  1. I loved Woody, him and Rome brought it every single night... liked the guard rotation much better with Dru, Dials and Ced. If Ced makes a free throw or two in Cleve. who knows what they could have done......... I thought that they were more consistent and a good defensive team as well. Nate could lock down guys. You are right, not a lot of depth though. Conyers was just getting started but he turned into a hell of a baller.
  2. "Dambrot also maintains that his 2006-07 Akron team that missed the NCAAs and went 26-7 was his best. Said this team can pass that but isn't there yet" I agree that that was probably the best all around team that I have seen in the JAR over the years. Maybe not quite the size and depth but they were tough.
  3. All good points CK, McCrea is a baller, no doubt, but no way should he have his way inside with the talent we have inside. it was pretty obvious early that we were spent from the OU game. My wife and I had a discussion about the game and I really think the loss may be a good thing to keep us grounded and to remind us that if we don't bring it every night we can be had. I really do worry about our guard play and also have deep concerns about Nick Harney. The guy just has not moved forward from last season. At the gym with my golf partner who sees very little of Akron BB, he made the comment that he couldn't understand why Harney was on the floor for so many minutes. I tried to think of a good reason to defend Harney but I couldn't. We have so many guys that can play the 2-3 spots so when a guy doesn't have it why not go with somebody else. I was in K E N T for the comeback and it wouldn't have been possible without a great performance from Chauncy. Lately, if sees the floor at all, he gets yanked as soon as he misses his first shot and I don't like it. This is the guy who has been on the floor at crucial points in the past and at times he's delivered the goods. I get the point that Jake and Reggie will be great players for us and God bless Kretzer for his great performance in Athens but if he's off on a given night, lets go with with somebody else. I know I'm on a mini rant here and our success leaves little room for dispute but the way keith handles Chauncy reminds me a lot of how he handled Darrell Peterson a few years back. He got in Keith's doghouse for whatever reason and despite being better than the guys we had on the floor, he sat and his minutes were limited. I don't get it, I just don't get it at all. Where were we... oh yeah, Miami. I remember that down there we didn't crack 20 points in the first half and I was about to toss a shoe through the TV. They are pesky but one of their better big guys, McGee , who scored 10 pts with 6 boards against us in Oxford just tore his ACL in practice so he's gone. Miami still has some size withh Legarza but he's a toad. They outboarded us in Oxford but with the absence of McGee we should really have our way inside. I never liked their guard play with Rollins and Roberts, who are both turnover machines, but Roberts can score at times and both do defend fairly well. Their assist/TO ratio is beyond horrible. Miami now needs points from guys like Felder and Johnson to compete. I think you are right Miami will pressure the ball and try to create some transition hoops off of our TO's but I think we can can do the same to them and wear them down with our depth. They should be really soft inside so tree and Zeke should have a good time out there. Miami has lost a bunch in a row and K E N T crushed them at their place Saturday with Holt and Evans getting off so they'll be hungry but they are simply short on talent, just outgunned. This is a game I'd really worry about under most circumstances but wrapping up the reg season title should be more than enough motivation to come out and pound the Redhawks into submission. I hope D I G is correct
  4. Just maybe we should stop wondering what some national schmuk thinks about us and concentrate on the task at hand. It's all settled on the floor, nowhere else.
  5. At times, the perception of class suffers at the cost of accuracy.
  6. I'm afraid to say that I have to agree. As a homer, he's way,way over the top. He just needs to be a touch more objective.
  7. The pressure is all on them. We held serve so now we'll see how they play in Athens. Not the end of our world should we lose but their psyche would be really damaged by a regular season sweep by the Zips.
  8. Also, good job students. probably the most I've seen there in a long, long time.
  9. I just wanted to add that I thought Carmelo Bentancourt had perhaps his best game tonight. I don't know how it translated to the TV but I think that those on hand would agree. Slowly the mistakes are vanishing from his game and he did a very good job of running the offense tonight.
  10. Props to Mr. Withers, great article !!
  11. Elton Who ?? I prefer to get my Zip news from a talented writer named George.
  12. can't let this one go... DJ Cooper
  13. Waiting to play for Walsh
  14. Like these reports and find it not too cumbersome to click on the link. Western has played very well since getting spanked here. I can't find much to dispute.
  15. Know it won't happen but would love to get another shot at the Titans. That loss hure real, real bad.
  16. That's a valid point and the only defense for those who won't root for Can't to take 'em down a notch. I really don't think they have the talent to beat OU as the Flashes are very soft inside. I hope I'm wrong.
  17. Love his footwork for a guy his size and it should do nothing but get better. The cupboards are full at UA and I'm lovin' it.
  18. messed up the title as I have had a drink or 4 tonight
  19. Its all good. he's gone so get over it please. He helps the Zips in many ways and that is what is important. I'm down with the bobbleheads, especially when it helps to sell out the JAR
  20. How about hanging a big L on the Bobkittens this weekend. I'll send flowers if you can rise to the occasion.
  21. More importantly, congrats to Chauncy for spreading the word of his love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I found that on twitter and so proud of him that he spoke his mind in an era where it is considered not too cool to do so on that topic. CG is a real man.
  22. I recall those Marquette jerseys you speak of. They were badass for sure. Those were the fun days when freedom ruled and people had fun. That is my editorial for the month.
  23. Thanks for bringing up the name Faulkner, we were trying to come up with that at K E N T on saturday. All we could remember is that kid who was an aprox 6'7" widebody who stayed away from the paint like it was the plague. He did have a nice stroke though. Correct me if I am wrong but were not both him and McFadden lefties ??
