OK...I have not posted on here in ages.....I do however read the posts off and on....I have been going to Akron games longer than I would like to admit publicly....as it would only make me seem THAT much older....anyway....I watched the game on THE Can't SPORTS NETWORK....lol..what a joke...I have been a season ticket holder at AKRON for close to 20 yrs and have seen all types of basketball played by the ZIPS...and that game at Can't State was one poor performance by the mighty MIGHTY ZIPS....but to blame it on the refs is a sorry excuse....were the refs bad....no doubt about it....but from what I could make out through that fuzzy broadcast were your typical good AND bad calls by todays standard of refs...in ALL sports..at ALL levels.....most refs are BAD....but to sit there at your keyboards and fule the fires by saying waaaaaaaaaaaaa we lost becuase of the refs....the first thing that comes to me..is GROW UP ...The ZIPS lost because they were out played..out hustled...out smarted...and out coached.....plain and simple...but to banter back and forth with the Can't fans just shows the level we are falling to...accept the loss....accept the ZIPS were out played and move on...we TALK about class..show some now....there is A LOT of basketball to be played...at the begining of this season if I were told AKRON would be 14-4 and tied for 1st in the MAC I would have been thrilled. OK...thats all kids....Im off the soap box now...

As soon as I walked into the upper level of the JAR on Saturday night my eye quickly was caught by NEW BANNERS...well..so to speak....it is great to again see the gloried history of ZIPS basketball displayed....not only for new comers to ZIPS basketball but for visitors of opponetes as well as us old guys that have just forgotten some of the accomplishments.....and way the athletic department choose to display is PERFECT...much better than the old hanging clothe banners...I give them an A+

IT HAD to be mis-understood....a 6' 10 HIGH jumper ..means his feet cleared 6 ft 10 INCHES.....and THEN his body did...how far do you think HIS elbows would be OVER the rim when able to jum[ THAT high????AND....Quad is NOT the only leaper...or the ONLY blocker...OR the ONLY rebounder...HECK..he doesnt even start....he is either the 6th or 7th man depeneding on needs and fouls....Dru Joyce is a terriffic ball handler...dont quote me..but his steals to turnover ratio is something like 93 steals to something like 32 turnovers....PLEASE someone out there has that CORRECT stat....yet even with that Middleton is even quicker...when he decides he is going to the hoop...look out...lock up your babies and cover the ladies eyes because he WILL be streakin....and..he is also NOT even a starter....PEAY should worry about the CRUSH BROTHERS of WOODS and TRAVIS on the boards.....as for outside shotting there are aat least 5 steady 3 point shotters....Akron uses this to open up the inside game..and if PEAY doesnt comt out to gueard them...it will be raining 3's...if they DO come out...SLAM SLAM SLAM with the right hand...BUT...I know nothing about PEAY and would be pressed to make a prediction...I just find it hard to believe that Peay could beat us in AKRON...or ANYWHERE by simply knowing the conf. they play in. THAT would be my only guide.

And on that party school thing -- true, in the eyes of the local police department (ala Andy Griffith Show) and hack weekly newspaper, the action on Court Street in Athens is pretty eciting, leading to newspaper reports (most of which relate to activities of non-OE students, but rather their weekend guests from other schools). But if you've ever spent any time on/near the OSU campus, you'd know that it's not even a shadow of what happens in Columbus on a weekly basis.I wouldnt send ANY of MY kids to OU if it were the LAST Univ. in the state. I want my child to learn...NOT party.... Not only is OU ranked as the number one party school in OHIO...it is rated the number 2 party school in the USA...for those that are OU grads..that means the ENTIRE country... I dont think that comes from the Barney Fifes of Athens...or from OU students bringing in their buddies for weekend bar hops... EVERYONE knows that OU has MAJOR problems controlling thier students...they are rude and out of control ALL the time. ALL anyone has to do is watch ANY OU game on the tube to see how they react to ANY call that does not go their way....REF: NIU has a player foul out late in the 2nd half and it was "na na na na hey hey hey..YOU SUCK!!"OK at least they WERE together in their rudeness...Ive also heard echoing through the Convo BULL $##T BULL $##T when a call went against the "bobber". UA students and their parents may NOT be the most over privledged in the state, but they ARE taught more than 2+2. They are taught to also be GOOD CITIZENS, and won't be graduating with $80K in school debt to pay back. As for the felons comment...yes..some mistakes have been made but have also been corrected...file that in the STUFF happens file....if left in place...THEN there may be a problem...UA hasnt been the "high school on the hill" for decades...WAKE UP !! put down the beer and lay down the pipe and get yoru nose out of your rear.There will always be people that think they are better than you because either their MOMS AND DADS were willing to send you to a school that is SUPPOSE to be ELITE...because THEY worked hard to set you up there...or they were willing to help you take out student loans so you could ACT like you were bettter....just reminds me of something a friend of mine told me when he was at a local high school basketball game....his town is NOT the the lower end of income by any means....but the visitors were from another local town....where the kids have been brought up to think they are better than everyone else...they had a little cheer they did toward my buddies school..went something like this......." its alright its ok youre gonna work for US someday" now THATS class. THATS why I would NEVER send my child to a school like OU....mondy does NOT mean class...nor brains...BTW..NICE game against NIU What have they won FIVE games so far this season?

I loved reading the OU nonsense....just goes to show you that drinking too much DOES affect your mind...I mean who other than a WANNA BE would send their kid to OU to the biggest party school in the state...certainly not to get an education in anything other than how to drink and be stupid, so just take these comment from them for what they are, drunkin utterings...and enjoy them for the pre-game hype they need to justify their own existance. We all know there are PLENTY of hillbillies in the Akron area...hey..we all deal them them daily right...but..u go 3 mins off of campus at OU and thats ALL there is there..and they all know that down there, thats why they need to ACT like they are superior. Isnt THAT usually the way it goes for "billicans"? I am sure OU will make it a game..every team in the MAC can make it a game, but WIN on OUR court...PLEASE !!! The ONLY way that happens is if the refs call every little touch foul and get our superior line-up in BIG trouble early. I honestly havent even marked this game down as a big game. Winning at Toledo and then at CANT should be our highlights for the remainder of this season, before we travel to Cleveland for the 2nd rounders. OU probably wont even make it there. AKRON 74 OU 56

Can SOMEONE explain to me WHY the championship banners are now missing from the JAR??? They have been gone since the season started and have not been returned. THATS our history of great teams from the past and for some strange reason they are missing.UA LUM

I don't want people showing up to games if they aren't going to support one of the teams that are playing. If all they wanted was entertainment, the game was on TV. Please make room for real Zips fans, especially if the game is a sell-out. If they won't support one of the teams, they are just taking up space that could be filled by someone who actually intends to cheer. YOU DON'T want people showing UP???????? are you KIDDING me??? How many SELLOUTS have you seen at the JAR? Once a year...thats IT!! I would take REAL ZIPS fans..FAKE ZIPS fans or CANT fans that just live in the area if thats what it takes to fill the JAR. I had 2 empty seats right next to me in the reserved section and would be thrilled if someone in an OSU shirt an OU shirt or the shirt off my old dead grandma was sitting there. When we have lines of people standing out in the cold begging for tickets to every game, THEN complain that non traditional fans are showing up to games and TAKING UP SPACE.You dont want people showing up??????????
