Not wanting WKU and MTSU was a laughable notion. Someone else said it prior, but both programs would be in the top 3-5 athletic programs if they joined today.

WKU looked fantastic dismantling Apy State today. The addition of both them and MTSU to the MAC would surely boost the strength of the conference.

And did you see the size of that WKU crowd in the stands. I bet they lost less than $400,000 playing that game.

Zach Gibson has agreed to attend Georgia Tech per the Transfer Portal.  Just lost a very good player.

You are correct. There are approximately 65 former active MAC players on NFL rosters. If you are good enough, you will be found.

    Fixed it for you.

If they were actually active MAC players there may be some collegiate eligibility issues.

My guess is an OC & a DC will be hired, but are probably higher-profile names coaching for teams in bowl games at the moment. Every coach that has been announced is either unemployed, not in a bowl game, or a GA.

OC and DC may not have "officially" been hired, but it's a safe bet they have already agreed to join the staff and are significantly higher profile than the already announced assistants (who have relatively little experience and probably agreed to relatively low salaries which saves funds to sign the higher profile coordinators). Announcements of the Zip's new OC and DC should occur sometime during bowl season (the longer the wait, the better the news).

What went into Cam Wiley's decision to transfer?

Fleck: "Once they hit the portal, my philosophy is I don't really say much about them, but Cam Wiley is an awesome young man, and I'm sad to see him go. But there's some reasons why he wanted to go and get closer to home and his family and I wish him all the best and I support him 100%.

But like I said before. This is the offseason that is the second year of that portal being open and people able to know what it's like and all over the country, that's going to happen more and more. Especially whether they have depth charts, whether they get closer to home, whether they have family issues, whether they have these things that the portals designed for the young players to have opportunities that fit them really well. Whether they stay or whether they go. And everybody has a different personal situation. And I think that's what it was designed for to make sure that the student athlete has the ability to you know find the proper home or get closer to home, or whatever their circumstances are.

They have the ability without being punished to be able to make their life better. Their personal life better, and again, I support him 100%. Again, I'm going to miss him as he's a really good person and I had a wonderful talk with him. And we wish him all the best."

You're right about all of that. I was watching with a smile on my face. Finke is a redshirt Sophomore who sat out last year after transferring from Grand Canyon University. He is where he belongs at the mid-major level, but I bet he has a high ceiling.

As the stats below indicate, the redshirt junior, Finke, may have set multiple NCAA records for performance by a player sitting out the season last year.

2020-21: Appeared in 23 of 24 games with 23 starts, averaging 32.4 minutes per game, second-best on the roster… Just over half of his attempts came from behind the three-point line (104 of 191 baskets) … Had a total of 160 rebounds with an average of seven per contest… Tied his career-high this season with 16 points three times during the campaign, with the last coming at IUPUI on January 23… Tallied a career-best 12 rebounds against Milwaukee on February 13… Was named the Horizon League All-Defensive Team.

Appreciation post for the JAR. Thank goodness we don't watch our basketball games at the Nutter Center. That is not a flattering arena name. 😂

    I concur.

All those comfortable seats with backs and not a bad sight line in the house can get really irritating.

And it only cost Erwin 2 of the 40 mill construction cost to get his name on it.

Cool people refer to it as the Nut House.

You must understand when I see scholarship kids playing and playing bad over the yrs and the under recruited kids or non recruited kids from Akron playing very little until they finally get in the game and now are in the portal getting offers from P5 schools. The evaluators of talent did not exist and I know all about Moorehead .

The evaluators of talent must have existed; how else could they have made bad evaluations?

What do you know about Moorehead; is he related to our new head football coach Joe Moorhead?

The Zips head to Dayton Wednesday night to face 2-6 Wright State.  Wright State's only wins came against Lake Erie and Purdue Fort Wayne.   The Raiders (who oddly have a dog looking mascot) were predicted to finish second in the Horizon pre-season poll.  6-6 junior guard Tanner Holden leads scoring at 19.8 ppg.  6-9 redshirt junior forward Basile Grant scores 18.8 ppg while leading the team in rebounds at 9.1 rpg.  Basile was selected to the pre-season All-Horizon first team.  Last season, he was an All-Horizon League Second Team honoree, averaging 15.0 points on a League-best 61.7 percent shooting, grabbed over seven boards a game and led the HL with 1.63 blocks per contest.

The Raiders fell to Marshall by 8 early in the season.

The dog is supposed to be a wolf.

It replaced their old mascot, a bug-eyed Norseman character wearing a Vekso helmet, years ago.

Apparently WSU didn't want to offend any bug-eyed Scandinavians.

The team is capable of beating the Zips by 20 or losing by the same margin.

And yet we still sitting doing nothing . I  don’t care who da heck our coach is. We missing out and if a baller wants to play at UA who da hell he reaching out too. This is crazy !

What's crazy is your ongoing rant about something you assume  is not happening and in all likelihood are completely wrong about.

The new field should  have good  Aesthetics and playable for all sports that use the field.Planting grass should be considered also.

I don't think they actually need to plant more grass on the hill behind the south end zone. Fertilizer and aeration should be sufficient.

Football largely determines a college's success now; it is the premier moneymaker. The University should take big strides all around during Moorhead's tenure and beyond.

I have listed below all the MAC schools whose football programs made money.
