You do realize it has been 20 years since a team has put up 48 or more points against Penn state? I just can't see Akron putting up that many points. My perdiction is a 34-17 Penn State win.

old dominion football season tix..1st season in decades
PSU_Nut replied to mivid12's topic in Akron Zips Football
UVA is only 2 hours away and U of Maryland is only 3 hours away. I think it more of an indication of how big football is in the area. The best high school football is played in that area. I imagine ODU will be very successful. Richmond had much success with many players coming from that area. -
Wow!! I am very impressed. Looks like a great design and the ability to expand in the future.

Sorry It's been a while but Where's Harvey???
PSU_Nut replied to Ziptastic's topic in Akron Zips Football
It not surprising that Harvey is done. The kid was an amazing talent with a ten cent head. His senior year he failed and did not graduate. I had hoped he turned the corner after going to night school and enrolling at UA. Unfortunately a free education and a shot at the NFL could get the kid to put any effort in school. -
Why should smokers have to pay for the stadium? Why not a county wide sales tax? It is not fair to put a burden on one part of the community. The best way would be a amusement tax on any event held in it. That way the people who use can pay for it.

Minnesota new one will be TFC Bank Stadium. Louisville has Papa Johns Stadium, UCF has Brighthouse Cable Stadium. It not a common thing mainly because very few schools have built new stadiums recently. The schools that have are selling the naming rights. It is very common in new college arenas.

I also like Pitt State (D-2) Stadium. Remove the track and have the double decks on both sides.

Princeton's new stadium is a great lay out. It has a big time feel but seats are on top of the field. It seats 27,800. It was built in '98 for $45 million.Standford's new stadium is great. It a little larger at 50,000 seats but could be scaled down by not adding the upper decks in the end zones.Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium is another nice smaller stadium. It seats 46,500.Navy also has a nice stadium. It seats 35,000.I think the key is to make it look big time. I prefer upper decks and seats all arounnd the stadium then 2 huge grandstands like most mac schools.

He had offers from all the big schools but failed out of high school. He did not even put fourth an effort to even graduate. The following year he enrolled in night school at a different high school (Thomas Jefferson) to graduate. He was set to go to Pitt in january but could not get accepted into school. He sat out the spring semester and enrolled at akron.

The Pep rally for the staduim was cancelled because of the rain. They could not move it indoors because they expected a crowd of 30,000+. The field has a tarp on it now and will remained tarped untill the rain stops or about 90 minutes before game time. The field has excellent drainage system so even with rain it will still be a good surface. They are very protective of the field in bad weather. If it is raining the band will not be allowed on the field.
-
They can easily be slective because there are certain "problem" areas that the large parties they are targeting are at. These are generally the non reserved spots that are farther from the staduim.

I think hunt will get more than 55 yards on 21 carries. The last time we played he had 137 yards on just 8 carries. For the entire season last year he averaged 6 yards per rush. I don't see akron limiting him to 2.6 yards a att.If Akron does win it will be because of turnovers.
-
The reason for some of the cockiness is that the talent returning this year is much better then any we had in those past seasons. This is compound by the fact that even in those seasons when we played akron we beat you 48-10. Unless we lose both games we will not fall out of the top 25 pool in week 3.

Does Joe Fear the Roo?? He does He does
PSU_Nut replied to Fear this America's topic in Akron Zips Football
You must not know Joe very well. He always talks up the competition and is always worried about if they will be able to win or not. He will be saying the same things about Youngstown. Vary rarely will he be very positive about things. He is not the typical cheerleader type coach who talks up the players. -
Things should be good for the game. Hopefully Ernesto will head east, some projections have it over state college on saturday.

Robinson was very lazy at Rutgers that is why he never made the depth chart there. He never came in condition and had a horrible attitude.
-
I am just shocked he is elgible to play considering he flunked out of high school his senior year and did not graduate. Hopefully he grew up and goes on to a great career. I am glad to see him turn it around because he has great potential.

Is the Zips band coming again? Visiting bands add to the excitment of college football. It allways great looking at the faces of visiting band members in awe who are not use to big staduims.

1. Buy an ad in every high school football game program within an hours drive of the staduim that includes schedule and ticket info2. Donate a set of tickets to all those schools to be raffled off at each high school game. All procedes would go to the program of choice.3. Allow youth sport leagues, non-profit oraganizations, scouts ect sell tickets door to door as a fund raiser. They can keep $2 dollars for every ticket sold. If the group sells an average of 10 tickets per member they all recieve free general admission tickets and honored at half time. Hopw many times have you bought things just because you did not want to say no. UA gets the money, it counts towards the attendance requirement and maybe just a few will show uip to the game.

An improved squad in 2004? That was our worst year ever under Paterno. This year team is more talented then last years team but less experienced. I think the 1st quarter will be close but PSU will win handily. Akron will move the ball between the 20s but have tough time produciing points in the red zone. I think it will be a 31-13 type of game.

If You Ordered Penn State Tickets...
PSU_Nut replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Its probally to late to get them through akron because Akron has already returned the tickets to Penn State. The only tickets that remain are the tickets Akron returned.Tickets can be purchased online here:PSU-Akron Tickets -
1. Students count towards the average if they are charged for tickets or if there is a student fee to support athletics.2. Bowl games and championship games do not count.3. Many schools have gone to neutral sites to improve attendance average. BG going to cleavland and Temple moving a game against clemson to North carolina.

The face value of the tickets are $55 for all tickets. I don't know if your athletic department ussually pays for part of of the student tickets.

Zip Recruits - Are we hurting ourselves?!
PSU_Nut replied to Ryno aka Menace's topic in Akron Zips Football
I would not worry. the coaches communicate with the guys they are recruiting on a regular basis. they know where they stand with guys alot better then any one outside the prgram. they know where they stand with them and will offer based on that. there are ways you can get guys in if a big time guy would want to commit. You have to be realistic but Akron is still akron and your not going to see an avalanche of talent after a 7-5 season.
