  1. How did Indiana "luck out" to win the NCAA last year? They beat the No. 1 seed on its home field, the No. 9 seed on its home field, the No. 12 seed and the No. 3 seed at the College Cup. That isn't called being lucky...it's called being good.
  2. That Michigan team finished 5th in the Big Ten.
  3. Last day of classes at Indiana was Friday=no students.
  4. Hahahah....Todd Yeagley is not leaving Indiana to go to Akron.
  5. I think I heard Frenchy say that Porter was the fastest to 100, and that only Sigi Schmid had also done it in only his seventh year.Jerry Yeagley at Indiana had 111 wins in his first seven seasons. And I am sure Coach Porter could tell you that
  6. Are there any substitution retrictions in college soccer?? I thought the rules were similar to international rules. Nope, unlimited substitutions. However, a player cannot re-enter a game in the same half that he left in. EDIT: No re-entry in the first half - One re-entry in the second half I wish I knew for sure -- I thought it was the opposite -- no re-entry for second half. Can someone find the actual rules on line? -- I've looked and can't find. If you start second half you can be subbed out and come back in. If you sub in in second half and then come out you are finished for the game. No. You are allowed one RE-ENTRY in the second half. You can come in at any point, exit, and re-enter. You don't have to start the second half. Anyone can then enter in the OT period, but you cannot re-enter either time.
  7. Caleb never won a national title as a player at IU.
  8. Hold on now -- is BigTen Net broadcasting this nationally? Inquiring minds, and hula hands...(not to mention Big Chuck). Here's the programming schedule for next Thursday. I would assume that it will be national. As long as you get the BTN. I just wish they were broadcasting it live. Edit: Looks like the link takes you to today's programming schedule. You're going to need to select next Thursday from the drop down box. It is a Student U production. It will be shown live on BigTenNetwork.com Wednesday night, and a rebroadcast will air on the linear network on Thursday. The students at PSU do a pretty good job in calling their games.
  9. The Big Ten will never have affiliate members. And there is no danger of any of the 7 schools dropping soccer. Keep looking...
  10. It seems the Cleveland Internationals are still playing a PDL schedule: http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2010/934451.html#SCHEDULE
  11. A lot of schools had them last year, including Indiana. Everyone saw them last summer when the US made its run in the Confederations Cup in South Africa and starting using them in the fall.
  12. We have a winner, yep the Huskies are the only team to beat the Zips in the MAC in the Caleb Porter era. Zips haven't lost a MAC game in over three years. It was NIU...but not the championship game. They did lose the championship game to the Huskies, but that game does not count in his MAC record...only regular season games. Lost to them 1-0 in the regular season too (Oct. 14 in DeKalb). I was there
  13. False, in basketball you must sit out a year, release or not. If a coach releases you, you are eligible for aid the year you are sitting out. If you do not get the release, you are stuck paying your own way.
  14. Not a good joke since Iowa announced its head coach 2 days ago!
  15. However, just to confuse everyone more, if the National Championship game ends in a tie and goes to PKs, the winner of the PKs will be credited with a win and the other team a loss. The way the NCAA does it, only the national championship game does not end in a tie. About 6-7 years ago they did credit all PK games as a win/loss but changed it for whatever reason.
  16. Games are 5/7:30 on the 11th on ESPN2/ESPNU. Championship game is the 13th at 1 on ESPN2/ESPN360.com
  17. Nanchoff has mono and is out for a couple of weeks.
  18. There is no broadcast for the Notre Dame match.
  19. What a back line!!!! Clean sheets for the year, anyone?P.S.: Look for Zakuani to get double figures in goals this year. Coach Porter's biggest problem will be trying to hold onto these guys for four years -- as has been shown in Hoosier Country, where Kofi Sarkodie's brother has fled the IUPen to become a professional footballer.Actually, Ofori is back in the fold at Indiana. A little sibling match-up at Armstrong Stadium on August 31.
  20. My sources tell me there are actually five future Zips on those lists.
  21. I highly doubt it. My guess is Caleb went to the video staff and asked them to put something together. I would love to see the day when the marketing department actually took the time to market soccer.
  22. This is a huge deal for Caleb and Akron. Kofi Sarkodie is one of the top players in the country and could have gone anywhere. This program continues to go nowhere but up.
  23. From what I understand, most of this class does not involve NLI signees but "preferred walk-ons" so to speak. For those who do not sign an NLI, you cannot announce them until they have received a letter of admittance from the school and have made some sort of monetary commitment to attend (i.e. tuition deposit, room and board deposit, etc.)UA has been notoriously slow on getting those things handled, and rather than announce one recruit here and one there most coaches prefer to save them all for one big announcement. Hence, the delay.
  24. That guy, Mike Seabolt, got fired prior to last season (I think it was last season) for some shady operations going down with the program. Marlon LeBlanc from Penn State took over and has done well.
