The sequences leading up to both goals were amazing...D is a very special player. I love how he placed the ball perfectly between the defenders and just inside the post on the first goal. The placement on the 2nd was probably even more impressive...just high enough to get over everyone and the GK's hands, under the bar and inside the far post. SWEET! What a let down for the Timbers to give up those 2 late goals. Oh well, D just needs to keep his confidence up. Those could easily have been the game winners in most matches.

If someone offers thoughtful opinions on BigSoccer, even if I disagree, I don't have a problem reading it. But that stuff is just venting. Anyway, thanks Yaznasty and Crew8 for your discussions. I agree with you that as long as USSoccer is interested in playing this system, Caleb will have opportunities to be part of it, and deservedly so.

Thanks Bisbee. It is nice to remember Akron of 2010 when it stormed through the playoffs and captured a national title, but the Zips did not immediately find success. When Porter took the job in 2006, the Zips went 14-6-1, which included a 5-0 loss to UCSB in Porter’s first game as a head coach. If implementing a 4-3-3 to perfection were easy, every team would do it. But that’s not reality. It is a meticulous, time-consuming practice, which requires more than just throwing a ball on the field. Porter brought some former Zips with him to Olympic Qualifying, perhaps as a way to overcome the difficulty of establishing a new system, but he did not bring the most important piece: Anthony Ampaipitakwong. The brilliant mastermind of all of Akron’s success was six months too old for this team, and Porter did not find a player who could pull the strings like Ampaipitakwong at the international level.

I didn't open the link yet, but it's probably been 1.5 - 2 months ago now that I noticed on David's twitter account that he was visiting Cincinnati...indicating that he was looking to transfer. I wish him the best. edit: And now that I have opened the link...you confirmed he is going to UC. 2nd edit: I did read on Murrow's twitter account, before Robbie Derschang's transfer to Akron was announced, that David was visiting UC. So, I'm not sure that Derschang's transfer had anything to do with David's decision.

Steve Zakuani ‏ @stevezakuani11 If that El Salvador player shoots wide, no one is blaming Coach Porter, they'd be congratulating him on the comeback. It's a funny old game. 11:29 PM - 26 Mar 12 via web Steve Zakuani ‏ @stevezakuani11 If there is one coach who can inspire his players to turn it around, it's Caleb Porter. Should be an entertaining second half! 10:09 PM - 26 Mar 12 via web http://twitter.com/#!/stevezakuani11

WVU has a nice, soccer-only stadium with beautiful surroundings near the WVU Coliseum. This will be a good road trip when the Zips are at WVU. If the MAC is smart, they'll schedule Akron-WVU on weekends to maximize attendance and build the rivalry.

It's official. MAC-sports.com

It's also on universalsports.com without registering, but it's not HD and the games seem to run 45 sec delayed.

Here's one. This was my favorite.

Ampai is on Quakes team roster, but hasn't shown up on a gameday roster going back to last season. He is not on the MLS injury report as of Friday, March 23, 2012

Backs against the wall now. US pretty much has to win Monday to advance. I doubt that Cuba draws or defeats Canada. Edit: Canada 2, USA 0 I guess Agudelo tore meniscus in his knee against Cuba. He's done and headed back to NY tomorrow (according to ESPN). Bunbury looked lost and cost US a goal being offside (lined up that way) on a corner kick.

I would agree with you. However, if RootforRoo44 is going to include Romeo, Dru, and Jeremiah Wood on the list for not quite living up to expectations, then Ken Lolla should also be on the list for the same reason, in my opinion.

This will probably be controversial with some, but I would suggest adding Coach it can't be done at Akron Ken Lolla to the list, especially given that he has been proven wrong.

Former Zip Ben Speas (Columbus Crew) is also out, having had sports hernia surgery according the MLS injury report. Enjoy the game anyway.

I don't either. I'd prefer UA make better decisions on its own and not hire someone with this kind of "baggage".

That's great to hear that Shaka is among those coaches who recognize the grass isn't necessarily greener elsewhere.

Yeah, glad to see Chris (spelled it right this time) in there; wish DC was playing better. Besides Kitchen and Hamid being in Nashville with the U23's, they have the following injuries: D.C. UNITED -- OUT: MF Kurt Morsink (L foot neurectomy); DF Ethan White (R knee inflammation)

Thanks Bobbyake for finding the Youtube version of the highlights. With 4 of our pro Zips being with the U23s in Nashville and Zakuani still rehabbing, playing time is down for our former players. I'm sure Zarek would have been in the game with the Impact if he was there. Zemanski came in during the 2nd half for Chivas, but the goats don't look good again this season...not scoring goals. No Blair Gavin and Mattocks didn't get in for the Whitecaps. I'll be interested to see if Kris Korb gets on the field with DC today (I hope).

Several mentions on Steve's twitter.

Nagbe scores 3rd pro goal! equalizer at about 50:30 in Dallas off a bad defensive play by Dallas. 1-1 final Timbers, FC Dallas Edit: Darlington's goal at about 3:50. D didn't play 1st half but started 2nd half.

Go Rams!

The other positive is that for every game OU advances the MAC picks up an additional $1M+, spread over 6 years, I believe.
