It was incredibly close and I would die inside if it had happened to us, but it appears to be the correct call.
It did happen to Akron at Charlotte in 2011 when Matt Dagilis scored the tying goal. It was waived off for his being offside. To this day, I don’t think he was offside from any view.

Getting pumped about the trip down to Wake Forest tomorrow. Supposed to be sunny and mid 50’s. Should be some great soccer. Got my $5 over 55 tix in hand. Go Zips! Hopefully I’m not the only Zip fan there!
Safe travels. See you there. Go Zips!!!

4 minute and 40 second interview with Jared.
Chad Welker does a nice job with these interviews.
Jared is very nice to give a lot of credit to Brett Draper and Tim Campbell
Brett, Tim, and their assistants do a great job keeping the Zips healthy and well-conditioned.

...The Zips also feature Morgan Hackworth (4g, 4a), the son of former Deacon player and assistant coach John Hackworth, now head coach of Louisville City FC in the USL. ...

fknbuflobo, I certainly appreciate your point of view, which comes from a big-picture vantage point of the role of college soccer in US soccer, and of US soccer in world soccer. My perspective is different; I'm more of a general fan of second-tier (in terms of overall popularity) college sports, including hockey and lacrosse as well as soccer. So when soccer does something different than these other sports, that's what stands out to me.
One thing I really appreciate about college soccer is the more liberal substitution rules, which give more players time on the field. I'd hate to see that change.
The one thing I would like to see change about the NCAA sub rule is that once a player has been on the field and taken out, that player should not be allowed to return. Allow all the subs you want up to the number available on the bench, but not allow them to exit and re-enter. College baseball does this just like pro baseball. Why can’t collegiate soccer at least do that. More players can be allowed to play, but like in the pros, the teams/players with better fitness have the advantage that they should.

Whether anyone agrees or not, NCAA rule is that a game that goes to PKs is recorded as a tie unless it is the National Championship game.
TDS and others should reflect records per the NCAA rules for consistency.

Not sure how Embick feels about Wake but I'd love to play them every year. Our people need to get with their people and get it done. Loved the Wake/UNC swing we did a number of years ago.
2010, the year we won the National Championship.
9/3/10 Akron at UNC
9/5/10 Akron at WF
10/29/11 WF at Akron
10/15/13 WF at Akron
9/30/14 Akron at WF
9/22/15 WF at Akron
I do not believe that UNC was ever interested in playing at Akron. Much respect for WF being willing to do so. I would love to start up a home and home series with them again, too.

St Mary's had to move their game v Oregon St to Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, CA due to poor air quality from the fires in California. This has been a crazy year.
As the 8 seed, they host #9 Stanford next weekend.

Great win, congrats to the Zips!
Mid season, did anyone think the Sweet Sixteen was a realistic possibility? Getting here is a tribute to this team's inherent talent and resilience.

With 18 new players.....including 2 that had played 3 years for other programs, this had to be one of the most challenging years that Coach Embick has encountered.
The zips soccer program is in good hands with Coach Embick and his staff.

Very happy to read these comments from others. Our team has had its difficulties, but I know everyone has worked hard to continue our successful program. So happy to see that hard work paying off for our players, coaches, staff, and fans. So sweet!!!

The money that built that UofL stadium still hasn’t bought a championship.

since there is no live streaming, it would be very nice if the Akron soccer Sports Info person would tweet more often ...than just at halftime and at the end of the game....
However, we have learned to expect very little from the Akron soccer sports info person

@ZipsVoice not sure how you read that as someone faulting the UA Admin for no stream. Just asking for a few more updates from the match. It's a shame that there are fans out here who care enough to want to be informed.

By not offering a stream, it seems that Syracuse is trying to get their "faithful" to travel down the road to Colgate to support their team.

Rule 12.2.1 in the NCAA Soccer rule book gives an indirect free kick for “a goalkeeper taking longer than 6 seconds to release the ball.”
http://www.ncaapublications.com/p-4544-2018-and-2019-soccer-rules.aspx
Edit1: Must be the difference between the GK holding the ball too long vs putting it on the ground and taking too long to kick it.
Edit2: Given that the Rider player was harassing Ben and not giving him the required (by rules) space to put the ball back into play, the 6 second rule should not have been applied.
