  1. Not sure this is apparent to others as to why you posted this. Abdi Mohamed indicated on his twitter account (@_abdi_1) yesterday that he is transferring to Akron for the 2018 season.(thanks to TennZip for finding that).
  2. Thanks Steve1982. I was wondering the same as TennZip when this thread was first started. Zips Mens Soccer has been missing that one position since the Scar... I think Soccer Operations.
  3. I liked this above, but Like is not strong enough for this! LOVE this!!! ...Joao Moutinho has started all three games that LAFC have played this season, and has played 263 of a possible 270 minutes of game time. His defensive efforts have made him a standout rookie this season, earning the fullback honors as SBI MLS Rookie of the Month. ... The Akron product has made his mark on MLS so far, starting in defense for one of the most exciting teams in the league. Time will tell if Bob Bradley continues to put faith in the young fullback, but for now he seems bent on impressing this season. ...
  4. You might want to clear your cache. I'm with TennZip...I don't see a posting for Men's Soccer. There's only a Women's Soccer Assistant that shows up on the site for me.
  5. Looks like we have another 2019 commitment (verbal)...
  6. Awesome! I was there last night, too. So great to have all 3 former Zips start, and 2 go full time with Nagbe subbed out very late. It was well worth the 8 hour drive each way! 3rd time I saw Darlington play on that field. 2/3 were the right result!
  7. According to US Soccer, yes, on FS1... https://www.ussoccer.com/mens-national-team/schedule-tickets
  8. Nick Hinds scores his first goal as a pro...the winning goal in a 2-1 victory
  9. I'm a day late posting this...but belated Happy Birthday to a great UA and UA Zips Men's Soccer alum...
  10. Three. They currently have a daughter, Mila, and a son, Kingston, I believe.

  12. If you are referring to Home Grown rights, that has nothing to do with geographical location. HG refers to developing a player in the team's development system. However, I don't understand all of the intricacies of when and how long the player had to be in an MLS club's development system in order for that team to claim HG rights. Edit: My guess is the Crew will be able to claim HG rights to Colin Biros if they so choose even if they are in Texas if/when he decides to go pro.
  13. Congrats to Joao, who went all 90 minutes in his and LAFC's MLS debut. W 1-0.
  14. Long drive to Happy Valley today but should be fun (and cold). Go Zips!!!
  15. [Joao Moutinho] ... The Portuguese defender is far and away the best soccer player in the rookie class, the task then becomes being consistent enough to stick.
  16. I haven't asked, but I don't think they know any more than we do.
  17. Joao Moutinho poised for breakout rookie season with LAFC Soccer by Ives EDIT: ..."I knew that America was the land of opportunity and coming here was going to be good for me," Moutinho said. "I definitely wanted to go pro some day, but I know it's a risk. It's always better to have a plan B if a soccer career doesn't work out. I needed to make a change and Akron gave me that chance." The Lisbon native didn't know much about the American college soccer landscape, but it didn't take him long to figure out he had made a good decision. "After a few games I noticed that the teams didn't really try to play the ball on the ground," Moutinho said. "They would kick it up there and try to get it by strength. So I was really happy that I went to Akron, because that's not the way we play. We tried to pass it around, tried to get to the final third with combinations. I definitely went to the right school."...
