I'm thinking if Swiech was playing the Zips might have scored more and the games that the Zips lost might have been a closer contest.I will say this Swiech is there to cheer on the time. he is there to give encouragement, Have you seen him on the sidelines?He want to be there to see the team do well. When Swiech played agains't Urbana the team was pumped. If KD would get off his A&s and play Swiech it would at least be a moral boost for the team! As you all know I'm discussed with the the whole situation. My only concern is that if Swiech isn't playing now, then he will never play when the immortal Zeke comes to town! We all know that KD will not Redshirt Zeke because he it will ruin any chances of him ever recruiting a player of his caliber again. By the way Happy New year and a Joyous 2009!!!!!!!!! GO ZIPS!!!

In the 4 minutes Swiech played He was 1 out of 4 on FG as well as 1 OF and 1 DEF rebounds totaling two rebounds.Not bad for 4 minutes I must say.

I understood how you felt right away, nbs95. It's no biggie to me. I've said/written plenty in the heat of the moment that, in retrospect, was short-sighted. I was very disappointed last night after the pitt game. to the point that I almost don't want to be a fan anymore.I thought Bardo play terribly the man can get a rebound to save his live. He is never under the board like he should be.I lost a lot of respect for KD as well. And after reading the post here I can truelly saythat I am done with UA basketball.

But is they can keep it 10 or under It will look good for next years schedule. and might even get them some votes on the AP pool. Pitt has been know to loose big on game such as these. Remember Dayton Last year.

I had a corporate box line up with 9 of my coworkers to whatch the zips but I can't go do to the fact I severely dislocated my knee. So I will be watch it on TV while the family and friends go. I am sooooooooo Bummed out.

I was looking forward to possibly seeing him go up against that big 320# guy from Canisius.Not sure if my source is reliable () but I heard from one of the players that Steve is a little bit slow for JD's current speedy lineup. He is a beast on one end of the court but still needs to come into his own. My source says, and I quote, "He just needs to realize what a beast he can be."Looking forward to French's call on the game tonight. I have some other stuff to take care of that will prohibit my attendance.So, from your post it doesn't look good for tonight??So why did KD recruite him if he is not going to play him??A waste of talent if you ask me.

Thank you it's about time!! some remembers Swiech. I remember how thrilled to have Swiech sign with the zips. Then zeke comes along and Swiech who??Taking to the coachs Swiech is not the same player thet came to Akron last year. He is not the player you saw the last 1 min of last year preseason game. he is stronger fast ant more of a threat. Swiech has worked very hard over the last year I don't think you will be disapointed.

I'm thinking Sullivan, McClanahan & the big guy from Dayton will be red shirted next year. That would make Sullivan, McClanahan, the big guy from Dayton & ZEKE MARSHALL all freshmen at the same time! KD doesn't rebuild, he reloads! Actually I see Zeke Red shirting as well. Bear in mind Swiech red shirted only to give Bardo the playing time that KD promised him after he red shirted last year. So it will most likely happen next year. When will he catchup?? Like I said before Zeke will need time to improve.No matter how good the team my look they need to win those Big non-conference games that the Zips seem to loose.The need to work on rebounds and Free throws.It will be very interesting to see what happens next year. Well I know one thing is that the zips are awful on the free throw line and they don't seem to get the rebounds.Swiech is solid on the line and is good at getting the rebounds.

Steve is a solid player and I think that the hype around him was dash when KD red shirt him. When that happen I felt that he lost any chance to make it to the NBA. The kid has talent and more importantly drive to excel. I even question his decision to come to Akron. No one was more disappointed in what happen, then his fan back home. Now I sit here and look positively and say, look at McNees he red shirt and now has been voted top freshmen in the MAC and 14th in the country.So thier is hope.

You make that sound like a bad thing. McNees is a heck of a three point shooter when he is on. In 2006 he was lead the WPIAL in points. So no I'm not surprise at all that he received such an honor. Congratulation Steve way to go!!!!

Hmm, I'm very disappointed that you all seem to feel that Swiech is not as good as you think.Don't you have faith???I ran in to Coach Boals and he tells me that Swiech is not the player you saw play against Walsh University nor the high score that played in high school. In fact to quote coach Boals "You won't even recognize him".Swiech Stands 6'9.5" 255 pounds He is at the gym training every morning at 7:00 AM In his own free time he is on the court when ever he can. The boy knows and understands what all of you expect of him. Steve is dedicated and committed to the program and wants to strive for excellence, so please don't under estimate him. Sure he will be a little rough in the beginning, but what freshmen isn't?Some of you already have replaced him with Zeke and Zeke still is in high school. I saw Zeke play and no offense to the young man, but he couldn't score in all the first half of the game I wasn't really all that impressed Sure he has talent height but needs a Lot of work. Steve was 60 points shy of breaking 2000 points in high school, all of those points came from shooting 1's & 2's no 3's just 1's & 2's that is hard to do. Akron lost games because of the lack of not making their free shots. Swiech has a nice touch when shooting free throws. I heard that he is a better center, then Bardo, Swiech only red shirted because he would not get playing minutes. By Swiech red shirting, he will get more playing time next season. Who know he might even start.Partial I maybe but, at least lets wait to next year to see how he plays before you right him off.
