  1. Sean Fobbs has committed to Akron. Congrats guys.By the way, I know that Kangaroo had this posted already but it is just public now.
  2. Bates is also considering an offer from Toledo.
  3. Doesn't he have to sit out a year if he transfers? Sit out a Year in Akron.Play this upcoming season in Youngstown. He hasn't started a down in Miami, what do you think he will want to do? Sit out another year, or have the ability to play in 07. Yep. That's why many kids that transfer later in their careers go to a I-AA school. They don't have to sit out a year. And I-AA kids still have a chance to make it in the NFL. There's lots of I-AA kids in the NFL.
  4. WR Tim Cortazzo committed to Toledo. He says he had offers from Toledo, Temple, Akron, and New Hampshire. I guess he actually committed to Toledo a few weeks back while on a visit for the UT/BG game. He is rated 3 stars by Scout.com.This is actually one of the few recruits that both UT and Akron have been going against for and UT won the battle. So far this year you guys have been beating us for all the recruits.......Joe Rash, Matt Rodgers, and DaVon Moore are the three that come to mind right off the bat.I guess one of us will be getting a commit from Aaron Williams too, but I have no clue where he is on that decision.
  5. That MACbbs is definitely the best sport for message boards for the MAC. UT and NIU have pretty busy individual message board there too.UT fan site.........there's a few:toledorockets.comtoledorocketfans.comletsgorockets.com (blog)www.toledorockets.netThe last one, ToledoRockets.Net, is actually the site I own and run. It has it's own message boards (one of four different sites that has active UT message boards) that has a lot of good recruiting information on it. I have full media credentials with UT and myself and my photographer our both members of the MAC News Media Association.
  6. Rivals.com does a better job of covering the state of Ohio, and is more accurate for MAC schools because of that....IMO.
  7. Morgan Williams has offers from Akron and Indiana, and should have a written offer from Toledo very, very soon. He is also considering Louisville and Wisconsin, and now Florida State is calling him and he thinks he might get an offer from FSU. It would be absolutely awesome for the MAC if Akron or Toledo got him. Obviously you guys hope you get him and I hope UT gets him. We did get a commit from a Steubenville running back though and have a couple of good ones coming back, but you can never have too many good running backs.
  8. Actually that is wrong. When they agreed to originally move to the West they had it in the contract that they would be the first team given the opportunity to move to the East if a shift ever occurred again. They like the East better as it puts them in the division with another rival, Miami, who they wouldn't necessarily play every year if they were in the West. Since the UT/BG rivalry is so big they know they will be playing us every year no matter what division they are in and they like the idea of a possible UT/BG MACC Game someday. With Temple joining I fully expect the East to have 7 team and the West to have 6 teams. Remember, Temple gives us an odd number of teams. If we expand again, then that expansion school could be put in the West, or maybe at that time they will ask BG to move to the West again if they bring in a school like UMASS or something. UMass?Where did you pull that one from? It was just basically giving an example. However, there have been rumors that UMASS is looking into the possibility of moving up to I-A for football.
  9. Yeah. We offered Gino when he was a sophomore at Seton-LaSalle. At one point he narrowed his choices to WVU, Pitt, and UT. Then he narrowed to WVU and Pitt, and then picked WVU. Since Rodriquez is staying, he won't be changing his mind.

  11. Starting this year the MAC gets 3 guaranteed bowl bids and we are a backup for a 4th now.As for the hatrid thing, I haven't heard UT fans saying they hate or dislike Akron.
  12. Make no mistake that you are getting these kids because of the future facility plans. Most kids that have committed have mentioned the $100 Million Plus facility plans they were shown.
  13. Da'Von Moore is a great pickup for you guys.Aaron Williams and Joe Rash our visiting UT this coming weekend and should make their decisions soon. I think whoever gets them between us will end up getting them both. It probably helps UT that Barry Church (Former Penn Hills player) was named a 2nd Team Freshman All-American today, but I don't feel very confident about getting them right now. You guys are pretty much kicking everyone else's butt in the MAC in recruiting this year so far. Miami and Toledo have some nice commits too, but you guys are doing great.Northern Illinois is not. They have 15 verbals and probably won't have more than a couple more because of the class size, and really only one or two of their commits had any BCS offers. Not sure what is going on there, but they just don't seem to be trying to step up their recruiting like many of the other MAC schools have. I think they are gonna be on the way down the next few years.
  14. Aaron Williams has offers from Akron, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh, plus interest from Marshall. Pittsburgh was showing interest, but backed away. He has narrowed it down to Akron and Toledo and will decide between the two. He visited Akron this weekend, and has an official visit setup with Toledo for next weekend, even though Scout.com doesn't list it. Rivals has shown him with high interest in Akron and Toledo for quite sometime, and I believe they show visits to Akron and Toledo as well. I heard he will decide between Akron and Toledo shortly after his visit to Toledo next weekend. Rocket true freshman strong safety Barry Church is one of three former Penn Hills players starting on defense at UT (true freshman Archie Donald and junior Tyrrell Herbert are the other two), and Church has been urging Williams to come to UT. We lost to outside linebackers to graduation this year, All-MAC Mike Alston and backup Michael Chamberlain. He will have a good opportunity to play right away next season at UT.If Akron lands him, your staff deserves props and you will have truly out-recruited Toledo for this one. I will be the first to give you guys congrats. That said, I know you have ties to Penn Hills too so I would not be surprised to see you land him.
  15. Aaron Williams is a big time difference maker. We have our share of Penn Hills ties with David Harvey and PH grad Coach Moorhead. I hope we win this one. We need a back like him in the worst way. Are you guys recruiting him as a running back or linebacker?UT already has a commit from a very good RB from Steubenville, runs a 4.4 forty and has rushed for over 1,600 yards with the state championship game this weekend, and we have an offer out to a 3-star running back from Cleveland and we are in his top three. Therefore, I am guessing UT is sticking with the linebacker position on Aaron. I know earlier we were just talking linebacker and Marshall came in and started talking to him about running back and he said he really rather play running back than linebacker. Might make a difference in his recruitment.
  16. Kyle Jefferson committed to Pittsburgh.Lots of players on that list that both Toledo and Akron are recruiting. Aaron Williams is torn between UT and Akron right now. Three former Penn Hills teammates start on UT's defense and Rocket SS Barry Church is trying to urge him to come to UT.Rocco Pentello is hoping for an offer from OSU when he visits this weekend. If not, Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Toledo are the three schools he is looking at.BJ Cunningham may look to Michigan State now that Dantonio is there. Otherwise he was seriously considering Cincy, Miami, Akron, and Toledo.Frank Edmonds is really looking hard at Toledo, BG, Ohio, and Akron.Rontez Miles has an official visit setup with Toledo for this weekend and is expected to commit on the visit with his brother Vondre Grifin.John Hughes just committed to Michigan State.Pete Rolf is expected to choose between Toledo and Oregon.Ben Burkett looks like he will head to Northwestern.Da'Von Moore really likes Akron. He has an offer from UT and is visiting in December, but I think he is gonna pick Akron.
  17. I think I speak for most when I say thanks for the heads up on the new recruit. However I also speak for most when I say that we could do without the commentary on Toledo's QB situation. It isn't really relevant to our program and comes off as another snide attempt to put Toledo (or Miami, OU, BG, Can't, etc, etc) on a pedestal above us. Its why you see very few Zip fans on MACbbs. We get tired of getting ridiculed and talked down to by fans from other schools even when we are making the simplest points about our program.Thankyou for the info again though. I think you are wrong about trying to put UT on a pedestal higher than you guys. Did you read what I said?I said that you got a commit from this guy and he had an offer from Toledo. I said that now I don't see Toledo signing a QB this year......now that two others signed with BCS schools and this one signed with Akron. If you think I was trying to put UT above Akron than you are mistaken. If that was the case, I wouldn't have said that UT offered him and I wouldn't have said that unfortunately it now looks like UT won't sign a QB. You got a guy we offered. What is so hard to understand about that?I think you guys are so used to being picked on because Akron's program wasn't great, that now you are being too damn defensive. Your program is one of the better ones in the MAC and you are the defending MAC Champions. Don't think that everything someone else posts is to put their school on a pedestal higher than Akron's. You guys are the defending MAC Champions, not Toledo nor Miami.
  18. Boy you guys are great. I even give you a compliment that you are on top of the MAC right now because you are MAC Champions. No, thanks for the kind words or anything.What......a little success go to your heads that quickly boyz......now you are going to act all arrogant.See you kangaroos in October at the Glass Bowl.....we got a present waiting for you.....down under.
  19. I have no idea what that means but I assume you didn't like my post. I'll try again. Is this the most appropriate place for these types of posts? I wouldn't complain about my post.First, I told you about a committment that Akron received. Second, no one here had posted about it yet so you guys probably didn't know about it.Third, if you want to be a dick I can be one too and not post news about Akron recruiting in the future.Fourth, you should want to know information about your conference mates. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. People that only worry about themselves and don't keep up on others will not stay on top very long. You are MAC Champions so you are on top right now.
  20. Rivals.com is reporting that QB Matt Rodgers has committed to Akron. He is from Pittsburgh Seton-LaSalle high school......the same high school that Bruce Gradkowski played at.He had offers from Toledo and Bowling Green that I know of.....might have been a couple others too.Unfortunately I don't think Toledo will sign a QB now this year. We have a junior, a sophomore, and 2 freshman QB's on the roster and it doesn't seem like anyone wants to come to Toledo with that kind of competition. The other QB's we were after committed to BCS schools already.Rodgers is a good get for Akron though.
  21. Toledo plays three BCS teams this year. @ Iowa State, @ Pittsburgh, and vs Kansas.I think we beat Kansas and might beat Pittsburgh. I hope we beat Iowa State, but I am scared of their offense and have a bad feeling about that one.
  22. To compare Syracuse to another MAC school, Toledo......................our standard season ticket prices are $182 per seat, which is $2 per seat more than Syracuse's.
  23. It looks like some UT fans and the "Rocket Jambulance" will be getting tickets from the Akron ticket office and heading out to Penn State to cheer you guys on September 2nd.Be on the lookout for the Jambulance. Here's a photo:
  24. Wow, they must be good at predicting the future since it is just 2006.
