Akron gets Liberty after their 66-54 win.

Nice win today. I was a little worried when we were down by 2 with a minute to go, but they made plays in crunch time.

I arrived fairly early to the game with my 7 year old son. They asked him to take the game ball to the ref. As a result, my son and I got to watch the game from the front row, mid-court (As opposed to GA). Besides, the great vantage point, it was interesting listening to and watching Groce throughout the entire game. He was constantly talking to the players. Taking them into the plays, encouraging them, and even getting on them when he didn't like what he saw. I recall a timeout later in the second half where Tribble had a few turnovers and Groce called a time out. There are always teaching moments - even with a huge lead. From what I saw, I think this team has the ability to be special. They just need to continue to work.

According to the Sagarin rankings, Duquesne is ranked 57th, with a strength of schedule of 313. Akron is at 100, with a SOS of 344. Both teams have great records, but have not been tested. I don't think you'll know enough about either team until they play better competition - most likely conference play.

Some games aren't going to be pretty. Sometime you just have to gut out a win. That's seems to be what Akron did today. Take the win and get ready for Concord.

The Browns game on the 15th is at 4:05. Plenty of time to catch them after a Zips win.

I plan on taking my son to the game on the 15th, so that's 2......

Sounded like a well-played first half - up 45-30. A number of fouls went against us. Let's hope that doesn't impact us in the second half.

We finally get a 1st down and.... a 15 year holding penalty.

3 minutes left in the half and we have 27 yards of offense...

We recovered 2 fumbles and have 3 points to show for it. This offense is continuing to struggle.

Great effort tonight. The Zips started out well and struggled towards the end of the first half. It was nice to see them come out in the second half and give a solid effort. If they keep playing like this, this team could be a MAC contender.

A very good half of basketball. Come out and keep up the intensity in the second half.

Miami driving. Need to hold them to a FG attempt.
