  1. Two new offers: DT Terrell Jackson CB Kevin Buford DE Adam Kranda commits to Indiana OT Jason Emerich commits to Syracuse FS Jeremy Clark commits to Michigan
  2. New offer: RB Akeel Lynch LB Kenʈ Kern commits to Miami-Ohio SS Mike Svetina commits to Miami-Ohio This is when we start losing kids to MAC schools because we spent too much time focusing on unobtainable BCS recruits and not enough time on getting kids that would make us at least competitive in our own conference. Baby steps are needed and this recruiting strategy is making it harder for the coaching staff to field a solid team than it should be.
  3. Didn't Hall play in the Spring game? I don't think it matters right now. This is the summer roster, not the fall. So maybe he's just not taking summer courses.
  4. The only guy missing is the NY QB that was so highly rated. The one from Ianello's HS. Maybe grades are an issue? We still have a couple months before the season. I bet we'll see some more names added over time.
  5. Check the roster again. It was updated to include the incoming players.
  6. I think some of you have missed my original point. Zeke isn't ready for the NBA at this point. But a year from now, he will be. He'll be better than those 19-year-old centers who are taken on pure potential but won't contribute for a few years while they play in the D-league but were first round selections. Zeke will average a double-double. He has seen the light, and it showed in the MAC tournament where he was named MVP. Trust me, next season the Zeke that showed himself in flashes last season will be the norm, and on occasion he'll take it to an even higher level that the MAC hasn't seen out of a player since maybe Wally Szczerbiak.
  7. Three new offers: WR Roger Lewis DB Sean Draper WR Justin Hardee SS John Turner verbals to Notre Dame.
  8. The Zips have offered BJ Gladden from Queens Grant HS in North Carolina. He also has offers from Xavier, Charlotte, ECU, UNC Greensboro, and Winthrop. He'll probably collect a few major offers before it's all said and done.
  9. New offer: WR Mike Means
  10. New offer: OG Kyle Knapp
  11. I'd say Zeke's skillset is already more developed than either of those two European ogres taken in the top 5 this year. They were drafted on potential alone, as projects.
  12. Moore was there and participated. However, Nicely was the one who set the match up and who assumed the leadership position. Nicely is also the one setting up future 7 on 7s. BTW, the score was 63-35. We lost to a D-III school by 4 TDs.
  13. Maybe if we ever happen to get a commitment. When I started this I wanted to have a way to compare who the coaches were trying to recruit against. So far, we're recruiting almost exclusively against the BCS, with nothing to show for it. I really do question the "great recruiter" tag that national outlets keep using to describe our coach because they can't think of any other positive coaching trait to describe him with.
  14. The best case that we can hope for is that the loss kind of shocked Nicely and the rest of the team into realizing that it's going to take a whole other level of dedication if they want to win. I hope their workouts are more intense and their mentality is improved from this. I am not trying to call our skill players hopeless losers, rather I wanted to call them out in the hopes of making them realize that whatever amount of work they put in last year through the summer just isn't enough. Last summer, we got spanked by Ashland in a similar scenario. I saw it as a major red flag but most Zips fans were quick to dismiss it. Then we went 1-11. I'm seeing a pattern emerge here.
  15. Four new offers: FS Jeremy Clark FS Benny Cunningham DT Darryl Goldsmith LB Daryan Martin LB Jamal Lyles commits to Michigan State TE Josiah Price commits to Michigan State TE Jack Schwaba commits to Northwestern OG Troy Watson commits to Ohio
  16. Two years from now... Exactly Not if this year's team lives up to their own expectations. Sweet 16 gets Zeke drafted, although depending on the dynamics he might get a better pick if he stays for four. Sweet 16 also gets Nik a very nice Euro contract.
  17. Nicely's Tweet I can't find the MU players tweets, they're too far back for the search function. They came to play and played to win, however.
  18. A year from right now will we all be talking about which NBA team will be drafting Zeke Marshall? Its amazing how teams are thinking about using top 5 draft picks on completely raw european kids based solely on height and a few decent workouts and one or two games.
  19. What in the world would bring Dennis Rodman to the Barley House? And who is dumb enough to get into it with him over LeBron?
  20. The coach should. The players also should. They should know that laziness becomes a habit that will carry over into the season.
  21. http://www.ohio.com/news/Can't-state-closes...campus-1.215718 But only on their main campus. Have they run out of dorms? Akron needs to get that new student housing built fast, both on campus and downtown. We should break the 30k enrollment barrier this fall.
  22. I don't post much, but this has to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read. Coaches are supposed to figure things out... just not a practice? How exactly do coaches figure things out if not a practice? Draw it on a white board and then have Ianello run post patterns in the hallway? Hey, coach caught that pass against a phantom defense in the parking lot... let's put that in on gameday. Is there a smiley icon for someone saying "good GOD!" and slamming their head off their desk? This may be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read. Coaches aren't allowed to coach at 7 on 7s. They aren't allowed to hand the players a playbook. They aren't allowed to sit in the stands and watch. They aren't allowed to help set them up with another school. They aren't even technically supposed to know that a 7 on 7 even happened. Thus, the players can only work on what they already know at a 7 on 7. How the hell do you expect our coaches to try new things with our players when they can't have anything to do with these events? Telepathy?
  23. Blue Ribbon picks are in. East: 1. Ohio 2. Miami 3. Temple 4. Bowling Green 5. Can't State 6. Buffalo 7. Akron West: 1. Northern Ill. 2. Western Mich. 3. Toledo 4. Central Mich. 5. Ball State 6. Eastern Mich.
  24. The information about the drill is coming from both the Mount and UA players. Our starting skill position players participated. Do you know the players, do you talk to them? Some are my classmates. Also, it's not up to the players to "try a bunch of stuff and see if it works". That's for the coaches to figure out. This is for the team to work on plays that they should already know.
