  1. But how much is a huge improvement? We could have three wins (Brookhart's worst season), would it count as a huge improvement? There should be a bigger leap going from year 1 to year 2 than there is going from year 2 to year 3. In that light, if we can expect to get to a bowl in year 3 (not an unrealistic expectation for a new coach brought in to turn around a sinking program), we need to have 4 or 5 wins in year 2.If Ianello gets to 5 wins this season, I'll temporarily shut up about him. How's that for incentive, coach?Temporarily?? How temporarily?? 1 hour?? 1 Day?? 1 Month?? 1 Season?? 1 Year?? Please be more specific...I am planning on keeping this post.Until he screws up big-time again. Something on the order of kicking twenty palyers off the team, or pulling a kids scholarship offer the day after he gives us a verbal commitment, or botching the coin-toss. I'm not really worried about it because five wins under Ianello won't ever happen.
  2. Because it's not very interesting and doesn't affect the Zips chances against their upcoming opponent, unlike much of the other news posted in this thread.
  3. Looking at the roster, we should have around 75 scholarship players at the start of the season.
  4. We run a balanced, conservative pro-style offense with slightly more emphasis on the run than the pass.I hope this kid likes a challenge. At Akron, he'll have to work to gain success.

  6. http://twitter.com/#!/highmajorscoop/s...627322807857152"Latenight scoop from the freezer: 6-foot-7/2012/SF/Jake Kretzer of Waverly, Ohio pops for the University of Akron."Chas Wolfe (aka HighMajorScoop) usually knows his stuff, but I'm hearing conflicting reports on this one.
  7. From the video game LA Noire:You'll run across a bus ticket from LA to Akron sitting on a suspect's dresser. I did a double-take when I saw it.
  8. New offer: DE Mikhail Dubose
  9. Zach. Thanks for the laugh, man. Really. I gotta give credit where its due. That is one of the funniest things I have heard in quite some time. Are you laughing at your own lack of reading comprehension? Striving. We may not compete at the top of the football world, but at least the athletics department is trying. To willingly allow ourselves to be pushed down a step on the ladder so that others can benefit is to give up.
  10. I won't support a program that isn't striving to compete at the top level. It would be economic suicide to drop to a lower level. Without the money that can be brought in from being in the division we're in, it would be better for the athletic department's bottom line to simply drop the football program.
  11. We're finally doing some things that make sense. This is a great idea. The military gets in free. It's something that should be made permanent, I think. It could also increase ticket sales if they decide to bring their family members or friends with them.
  12. Rasor's update on our recruiting (or lack thereof).
  13. How am I incorrect on anything? Nick in Cleveland posted his previews on the mac board yesterday with outdated information that is totally irrelevant to any real fan. I guess he was too busy to update his previews. How is it that I am ignorant? You posted a picture that said that I'm full of crap regarding the fact that I pointed out that the write-up was meant for Athlon and was using months-old information. How weren't you incorrect?
  14. You shouldn't dismiss what I have say without checking to see if you're correct first. It makes you look ignorant.
  15. Rob's failure, so he/she thinks he/she can be right.PS Nice list Zipgrad01.The Zips winning is the most important thing. Of course, that won't actually happen until Ianello fails his way out of a job and we get a competent replacement.
  16. That preview was an attempt at being funny from a source that probably care less about the MAC whatsoever. This one comes from MAC "specialists". Read this gem. http://www.vandelaysports.com/football/mac...2011/akron.htmlThat's pretty ugly.I couldnt care less about these predictions. These guys know nothing about the MAC or the Zips. The talent level of the freshman and sophomores is vastly improved over what we have seen in quite a few years. I just can't see us being a 1-11 team with Chisolm, Williams, , etc... being introduced to the offense.Vandelay is supposedly a MAC expert service. You gave a better preview of the Zips in a couple of sentences. A service like Vandelay putting out garbage like this is a joke. First of all, they should pick up a roster. "Gray" Pride hasn't been here for months and Richard Hall is a more recent disappearance. Secondly, at least know who performed well in the spring. No mention of Chisholm. I can accept someone from Rivals making a smart-ass prediction for entertainment's sake. He wasn't trying to peddle real analysis. This joker from Vandelay was.Vandelay writes up their MAC predictions in March/April for Athlon. They can't publish them on their own site for months. Nick (the guy who writes this stuff) knows the MAC as a whole better than most.
  17. Who says that he hasnt done a hell of a job as a recruiter? Look at some of the youth that has been added to this team and the promise that they have shown already...1. Jawon Chisholm - looks like he has all-mac talent2. Anthony Holmes - Going to be a very solid db...all mac potential3. Tyler Williams - Is going to be the most explosive player the zips have had in over a decade.4. Antoine Russell - Showed flashes as a true freshman and I think he will be much improved this year.5. Nick Rossi - a top 10 ILB recruit in the nation.6. Keith Sconiers - Another highly touted receiver that looks like the real deal.7. Zack D'Orazio - Another solid athlete that looked damn good in the spring for being a freshman.8. Nico Caponi - Solid D line player as a freshman and played well this spring.9. John Griggs - His video looks like he is a long, lean and explosive pass rusher unlike we have seen at UA in a while.10. Andrew Bohan - Solid and well rated OL that played well in both of the post season all star games against very high talent.11. Clayton Moore - SEC talent that is very intriguing and adds much needed depth to the position.12. Kyle Pohl - Another highly touted young QB that looked the part in the All Star game. While we aren't sure how all of these guys will end up, I have a lot of hope compared to many of the other classes. I see this young talent infusion helping us win a few games this year. Once recruits see the program going in the right direction the sky is the limits. I am excited.8 of those guys haven't played a single down in a college game. According to your list, only four players that Ianello has recruited to the Zips have contributed in a meaningful way despite the team being supposedly so devoid of talent when he took over that you would think that every single incoming freshman would have earned a starting spot.
  18. At least I didn't decide that he's a one-dimensional player who's only good for his rebounding. Or that he's too short/skinny to play PF.Sorry for being excited to see this kid commit here.
  19. I said i will never give iCoach a chance. But the reality is that I adamantly believe that he will never give me a chance to believe in his abilities. I can't see him ever leading the team to more than a single win per season at best. How can I give him a chance when he won't win?
  20. You're severely underestimating NIU if you think OSU has 5x the talent of that team. This game will be closer than expected. Akron-OSU games have always been close. There's never been a real blowout in the history of the series. We always play them better than they think we will. I'm pretty sure that they've never been able to hang more than 28 on us, and they've never beaten us by more than 18 points.
  21. LSU loses two scholarships, gets put on probation.OSU will be punished more than having to "give up" some games that were already played.
  22. The game will be aired on ESPN. Urban Meyer will make his broadcast debut. ESPN College Gameday might even show up. The media circus surrounding this game is off the charts. If you have any superstitions or supernatural methods to help the Zips, now would be a good time to start planning them. Maybe contact Jo Bu or something.
  23. Quote frm OT Dalton Chapman on being recruited by the Zips:“I'm still learning about them but I know the coaching staff is really good. The head coach used to work with Notre Dame which is impressive.”
  24. Changed his mind? He was behind YSU all the way as I reported from my source the other day. Ian Folmar was accepted to Akron according to my source who gave me this: http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?stor...100000020696099Bottom line, the days of YSU losing recruits to the MAC's of the world are coming to an end. We lost out on 3 locally, Trent Toothman to Ball State, AJ Fox to Akron, and Landon Smith to Ohio. The first two were never offered by YSU and the third one de-committed from YSU after some issues with the staff.Ian Folmar II commits to Akron as a preferred walk-on.Here is a very in-depth scout report on him. Let's hope that OL coach Mitch Browning can bring out this kid's potential.
  25. The USWNT actually knows how to execute plays and play possession. That puts them ahead of about 85% of college soccer teams by default. They would probably be ranked around #20 to #15 in the polls. That said, the Zips would win handily.
