Today was JUCO signing day. Akron has missed out on recruiting any JUCOs because of the coaching switch.

Every FBS conference is affiliated with the BCS. The MAC, WAC, MWC, CUSA, and SBC are all signed on the contract.That means that the MWC, WAC, and Sun Belt would also have to expand or be absorbed into another conference.

That is the "logical" Big 12 replacement, but you have to figure that the SEC and Big 12 would be willing to consider TCU as a possibility.If that happens, then the merry-go-round ends right there.The merry-go-round ends for us, but it gets really interesting in the west. If the Big XII takes any of the MWC teams, it creates a monster of a problem. The MWC is left with 8 teams, which is a problem for scheduling. So they add Boise State, and then the WAC has the same problem. No western schools have plans to move up. You could see the MWC take more teams from the WAC to get a championship game and kill off the WAC (their main competition) entirely. Nevada, Fresno State, and New Mexico State are the biggest candidates, plus one more. LA Tech would be forced into joining the Sun Belt, even though they are adamantly against it, if they want to survive.

It gets really interesting if Arkansas comes in to replace Mizzou. That could cause a major chain reaction in the east.

They were NOT the finest NCAA refs in the country. In fact, they weren't even NCAA refs. They were MLS refs, and they conveniently forgot that the rules on tackling and what constitutes a cardable offense are different in college from what they are in the pros.

Joining a conference means joining in all sports. If Akron wants to move to another conference, they would have to line up their sponsored sports with another conference's guidelines on top of what the MAC requires.Akron is already in line with what the Big East requires for full membership, but we may not sponsor enough of their optional sports.

Latina as our OC. Did you see Notre Dame's O-line this season? They were almost as bad as Akron's.

Big city with a statewide fanbase? How about Rutgers or Syracuse, then. Each of them thinks they own the biggest city of them all, NYC.

The Missouri fanbase is split about 50/50 on joining the Big Ten. Check their message boards.

Sagarin's ratings (and all computer ratings, for that matter) are pretty useless until the second half of the season. Sagarin admits this. They're useful once enough teams have played each other to make a comparison. Once conference play begins you'll see the ratings fall more in line with observations.

You don't have to be the best QB in your division, just the best one on your team and that's what Frye appears to be. It was a very close decision between him and Gradkowski for the backup spot behind the busted draft pick.Plus, I just want to see Cleveland get smoked by Frye so bad.
