  1. Miceli has been the offensive coordinator at Georgetown for the past four years. In those four seasons, the Hoyas have gone 5-27.
  2. I know that there were four seniors on the roster, and we have three verbals so far. Looks like we'll need a recruiting class of seven or so.I actually want to see lots of Zips in the MLS. I want to see Teal go as a top 5 pick. I want to see these players make an impact as rookies, like Zakuani did. Having a couple Zips playing in Columbus would be nice and would really help with getting the attention of the local media.
  3. You don't think the coach is the one telling them they should go for it, then? Because I think he is.
  4. Chicago Tribune: Bryant Young expected to be named Akron's DL coach.
  5. Their record and scheduling philosophy are very MAC-level.
  6. The MAC's TV contract gives ESPN "choices" when it comes to which weeknight game they air. That means that you get MAC games on weeknights that are not on TV. No other conference I have seen does that. If they're playing weeknights, they're on TV.
  7. You have never been so wrong. If you don't play the big boys how do you ever find out if you can beat the big boysWhat does it matter? The best thing we can ever hope for is a trip to Detroit in winter no matter who we beat. How does playing a game that you're almost 100% going to lose help at all?
  8. Would you rather be a winner or a loser? One of those scenarios tells the recruit that he will play for a loser, and the other for a winner. One of those schedules says that your program can't afford to pay for things, and the other says that you're above whoring your team out for money. What do BCS teams tell recruits? They tell them that they'll have three or four guaranteed wins where they can prove themselves on the field and not just in practice.
  9. I think the new field should be able to hold up better. Let's wait and see how it does for a full season before deciding that we need to spend money on a soccer dome instead of a basketball arena or baseball stands.
  10. I love watching the Zips blow out MAC-level teams. The game's at 2:00. The women's team also plays at 2:00 at Niagara. Today should be a win for both teams.
  11. You NEVER lower prices on something that has a variable demand. Keep them the way they are. If we lower them to start the season and then the team is suddenly great do we raise them again and piss off a bunch of GA ticket buyers, or do we lose lots of money that we could have made if the prices stayed the same?Lowering the ticket prices sends a message that we already know the team will suck.
  12. How awesome would it be to sell out the season before the first game is played?Hey Tom Wistrcill, here's an idea: make soccer season tickets count for both the mens and womens teams. Don't forget the womens team had their best season in program history, too. It could quadruple their average paid attendance.
  13. I would love to see Mitch Browning come here. Could Curt Mallory have been recommended by Vince Okruch?
  14. ESPN's Soccer recruiting tracker shows that Akron has received a verbal from midfielder Reinaldo Brenes of IMG Academy. He plays for the Costa Rican national youth team.I believe that means that we only have one more scholarship to give.
  15. The soccer stadium can be afforded becasue the football stadium came in under budget. It's part of the group of funds approved a few years ago.An arena would require a whole new fundraiser. That is why the soccer stadium is getting built first.
  16. http://www.metrojacksonville.com/article/2...-urbanism-akronApparently Akron is a "clean and polished" city, as far as downtown goes.
  17. A politically correct way of saying non-BCS.Did the yard gnome tell you that?It means that the individual did not initially meet the NCAA standard for eligibility.NCAA eligibility rulesAre you unaware of ESPN's blog on the "non-AQ" conferences? Graham Watson reports on the non-BCS conferences and she, along with the rest of ESPN, calls them the "non-AQ conferences" because the term non-BCS makes the BCS look exclusive (which it is).
  18. A politically correct way of saying non-BCS.OK what does AQ stand for?Automatic Qualifier. The BCS conference champions automatically qualify for a spot in the BCS bowl games. The non-AQ conferences do not.
  19. A politically correct way of saying non-BCS.
  20. http://footballcoachscoop.com/Scoop.htmlNot surprising. We're seemingly becoming Notre Dame minus Weis as far as our coaching staff goes. But I think I like this hire. Aside from football, every sport at ND is in the Big East. We now have a Big East level S&C coach.
