  1. Right. Because the last Notre Dame coordinator to coach a MAC school (Miami) did so well. Are we actively going after people with no experience whatsoever? How will he adjust to having to work within limits instead of having hundreds of millions of dollars thrown his way whenever he needs something?
  2. I think Akron should try to land a MLS and a NHL team.
  3. I have to disagree with this. We do need a coach with strong recruiting ties to Ohio. Let me rephrase that.....he needs to have strong roots or has to develop strong roots in Ohio. Lets be honest, this isn't Florida or California. We dont have the girls, the weather or the name to consistently draw top talent from out of state. Plus, we are in a garbage conference. Even if we win on a consistent basis being in the MAC and relying on OOS recruits will make recruiting very cyclical. I am not saying ONLY recruit Ohio, but Ohio should always be our top priority. If you plotted a graph of opinions about UA versus distance to campus, you would end up with a bell curve. About 100 miles away from campus would have the highest opinion. The farther away you get from that the less people have even heard of the school. The closer you get the more you get into Ohio.com poster territory.
  4. The parking area ext to the facility is no bigger than the footprint that the JAR takes up right now. Of course, the JAR could have held much more than the 8,000 it originally held (when it was all bleachers) if it was designed properly.
  5. http://highschoolsports.cleveland.com/news...otball-insider/Of course, we all saw this coming. It's dumb not to try and get as many high-profile events as possible into the stadium.I love how they say that the "only adequate facility" in Summit County is the Info. It's obviously true, though.
  6. Story of how the McKeesport basketball team is adjusting to losing their best player ever.
  7. http://www.portfolio.com/interactive-featu...tadium-seating/If you click on the soccer logo, it shows the cities that the MLS would find the most attractive to expand into. Odd that Akron was mentioned but not Cleveland.Remember when there was talk of building a soccer palace somewhere in Stow at the same time the Info was announced?I think that Akron as a city needs to take advantage of the less well-known professional sports as much as possible. The Racers are a great success story, and Akron is quickly transforming into a soccer town. I'm all for an MLS team coming here. I think that more people from Akron would follow Zips soccer because the quality of our players getting drafted would suddenly become extremely visible.
  8. They better hurry up. They need to be out there recruiting and meeting with the existing players to keep them at Akron.Exactly! The longer we wait, the more I think we're going after a BCS coordinator who might be able to bring along some recruits. If we wait too long and hire a lower-level coach he won't have the time to build a recruiting class. That's why I'm getting impatient.
  9. The only reason they would do this would be to get those borderline BCS teams in the dance. Don't expect any more bids for the other conferences than what we get now.

  11. Do we have a timeline here? I heard somewhere a while back that we would have a new coach by the end of this week.
  12. You think the Tar Heels are bad, you should read what Wake has to say about us. I'm beginning to think that GP1's attitude towards Akron is actually a regional thing that he picked up on.
  13. Just hope they can ship them to you in time.
  14. I'll be there, with a little luck.
  15. It's a catch-22. If we don't offer, the coaches complain. If we do offer, they tell the players to ignore it and go somewhere else because we're not worthy of their wonderful recruit. The only way you change it is to win. You win by having lots of talent. But you won't get local talent. So the only way to change it is to win using talent from somewhere else.Therefor, we need a coach with strong recruiting ties to places other than NE Ohio. Having a coach come in with NE Ohio ties will accomplish nothing.
  16. Please nooooooooooooooooooI agree completely, but there is a possibility. I'm pretty sure that he has been contacted. He's never been more than a position coach, at any level. I think he's a candidate based almost completely on the fact that he's from Barberton.
  17. Couldn't get any tickets from the Akron office. StubHub is also sold out.Luckily there are some tickets up on eBay. Mine will arrive at my doorstep on Thursday. Overnight shipping is expensive.
  18. Youngstown State: The entire city of Youngstown is anxious to find out why Mark Stoops has yet to be named head coach at YSU. We wonder if a major BCS program is interested in Stoops as a DC. Jimbo? Some people believe if Arizona AD Jim Livengood in the next few days, Livengood would turn around and hire Stoops as the UNLV head coach.sourceFlorida State: FootballScoop has learned that Arizona defensive coordinator Mark Stoops interviewed yesterday with Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher.
  19. Don't forget that there will be a sending-off party for the Soccer team on Wednesday from 2:15 to 2:45 in the Field House.
  20. Keep an eye on Scot Loeffler, Florida's QB coach.
  21. I've been reading Kansas fan's reactions to the Warinner news, and it seems like they are complaining about all the same things that we complained about our offense under JD.Running a "no-huddle" but waiting until the very last second to snap the ball, extremely predictable play calling, players simply not making plays. Sound familiar?
  22. He greyshirted in 08.The only other school to offer him was Hawaii. Personally, if I had the option to live in Hawaii for practically free for four years I would take it in a heartbeat.
  23. Do we have any players that could end up going in the NFL draft?Andre Jones will likely go. Maybe Miguel Graham. I would like to see Joe Tuzze, Jeremy Bruce, and the OL guys go, but I don't think they'll make the cut.Bowser would have been a near-lock if he didn't get hurt. Alex Allen is too injury-prone.
  24. GOT A SCOOP!http://www2.kusports.com/news/2009/dec/07/...d-coaching-job/ Thoughts?
