Akron is playing in the MAC tournament for the first time, hosting the Miami Redhawks on Sunday at 2:00.Akron beat Miami 1-0 earlier this season at Lee Jackson Field. If we beat them again, we'll play the winner of the EMU/Can't game in Mount Pleasant.

Is it any different than giving them your social security number? A set of numbers that is completely unique that can be used to identify you. The thing is that it's much more difficult to spoof your DNA than your SSN.Did anybody see District 9? They had technology that is keyed to a specific DNA sequence, so only the owner can use it. That is something that will be in use for computer security in the next few decades, replacing thumb-print scanners that you see on laptops now.

Have we ever had more TV games than we've had this year?

Was that the game where they stopped play a minute after we scored and took away the Akron goal with no explanation? Or was that Ball State?

The entire country is talking about the University of Akron. Soon hordes of protesters will descend upon the city and campus, filling hotels and buying things. If it gets big enough, the local news will send TV crews and possibly pass it on to the national opinion outlets like CNN and Fox. All for something that's not even happening and probably will never will happen (DNA databasing will soon be illegal, making all of this pointless anyway). Think about that before you call it a bad move.

The ACC Tournament will determine the Akron's seed more than anything they do themselves.

The MAC is looking to move the Women's basketball tournament out of the Q in two years. Can it get done in that time frame, so we can compete with the Lucas County Arena? Having the tourney in Akron makes sense from a media coverage standpoint, since it allows reporters to go to both tournaments easily. It's also far enough away that it can be considered its own event out of the shadow of the men's tourney.

I'm tired of being "cautiously optimistic" and of always waiting for some inevitable disappointment. That's what sad-sack Clevelanders do every freaking year, and I'm sick or hearing about it.We should have high expectations for the team, and we shouldn't try to wrap it in cautious optimism. I will be disappointed if this team does anything less than win the MAC, win at least one NCAA tournament game, and have at least 24 wins. There's no reason not to do any of those things. This team should be drastically improved. They have experience playing in the tournament, they are no longer relying on a bunch of freshmen to come through in the clutch. Humpty, Nikola, and McClanahan won't make freshman mistakes. Only Zeke will make them, and they won't be as numerous coming from an All-American player as they were coming from those guys.Our greatest weakness last season was inexperience. We have eliminated that while keeping all of our greatest strengths except the heart shown by Linhart, and I think he made his mark on the underclassmen so that they will play with the same heart.

I understand that the field will be turned 90 degrees, running north to south which solves the problem of looking into the sun in the one goal.

Can't worry about stuff like that. There's too much to do this season.

Great win for the Lady Zips!!! Just a couple of things from someone who goes to the games. Senior day was October 18th against Ball State and Petrole put the ball in the net off the cornerkick. Wise never touched it. Give credit where credit is do. Just giving facts not looking to cause any problems. GoZIPS!!!Sorry. I always assumed that Senior Night was the last regular season home game, for all sports.

It's time we stopped associating Zips athletics with the usual Cleveland disappointments. Only the football team belongs in that category at this time.

Akron takes a 6-game win streak with them to the MAC tournament.Today's attendance was terrible, though. Only 162 people showed up for Senior Night for a winning team with a tournament home game at stake. And half of those were belligerent Ohio fans (they really hated the Rowdies).Luckily, the Miami fans hate the Rowdies even more. Let's show them how to support a winning team. The game is at 2:00PM

It's difficult to find info on soccer recruiting. It's just not developed into an industry like football/basketball has with Scout and Rivals.This is what I have found out so far. A lot depends on the outcome of the EMU-CMU game now.A great win by the Zips, and the dozen or so Rowdies that showed up made plenty of noise.

The MAC has released the TV schedule for basketball season already. Color me impressed. The women's soccer team takes on Ohio today at 3:00 PM. This game is for the right to host an opening round MAC tournament game. It's senior night, as well.This game is the biggest in the program's history. The Zips are on a 6-game winning streak, and a win today means that they will get to play the first round of the MAC tournament at Lee Jackson Field. This is the first year that they have made the tournament, and to get home field advantage for even one game would be tremendous.If you are able, get to this game. Especially students.

Zeke is playing with a team that is already complete. The rest of the team has the chemistry, the experience, and the coaching already. He's the only one without any of those. It would be different if we lost three seniors instead of one, and then he could work along with an actual freshman class that is dealing with the same issues as he is. But he's not. That puts more pressure on him. I think he can handle it. He just has to grit hit teeth and keep going.
