  1. Is this you?
  2. Couldn't see the game. How'd he do?
  3. http://www.sfexaminer.com/nation/ap/48683567.htmlSad. When will they learn?
  4. Nice defensive rundown as well. I do believe that Ryan Bain will have a bigger impact than Henderson, should both see the field if only because he's been at Akron three years now (one year for the transfer and then last year) and should have spent tons of time learning the 3-3-5 while he was waiting.
  5. As far as Henderson goes, no news is good news. Same with Ryan Bain. Those guys will be key along with Almondo Sewell. I don't know whether Phil Tonga will be playing along the DL or at a hybrid position but he will also be a major factor.
  6. We don't need a bridge on Mill Street. What we need is a pedestrian bridge to link Quaker Square directly to the rest of campus. The whole area needs to become more pedestrian friendly. The downtown area sold its soul to accommodate the automobile to such a degree that it almost completely killed commerce. The university took major steps to remedying that, but there is still a ton of work to be done and a walkway bridge over the tracks from the south end of the hotel to the Polymer Engineering building is the perfect start.
  7. The biggest reasons to look for improvement in the passing game are the coaching hires at offensive coordinator and QB coach. Jacq showed great improvement after year one and the jump could be even bigger this time.
  8. The soccer field's probably still underwater from this morning's rain.
  9. Well, they just ran a piece on Fox 8 about the drinking situation at the stadium. I couldn't hear what was said, though. Perhaps somebody could find a link to it.
  10. Arena or not, I like the idea of knocking down the Mill Street bridge.
  11. The former Mr. Hero's on Market street is being turned into a university parking lot, I think.Aside from that, I think they are changing the policy where all residents are allowed a parking spot.
  12. Here's a question that I hope somebody has the answer to: How much is Penn State actually paying Akron to go there and ruin their season? Since this game was more recently scheduled, I would assume that we're getting the current going-rate for a single road game with no return, which is nearing $1,000,000. I would be suprised if it was that much, but I would also be very disappointed if it was anything less than $600,000 given what other schools are reporting for their deals. last year, Wisconsin payed Akron $650,000 and that was scheduled earlier than this game.
  13. City of Akron WiFi being turned onI remember thinking that UA's existing WiFi played into this somehow, but now it's looking like a separate thing. UA will need to replace their wireless infrastructure in the near future. They were way ahead of the curve a few years back, but now everybody else has caught up and UA's technology is dated compared to everyone who has installed a network after them.
  14. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/48584602.html I'm glad it payed off. Congratulations, Carrie!
  15. I suppose you think that they should stop serving drinks in the Tommy Evans lounge before basketball games, too.
  16. The top three floors were missing underneath the roof, about the width of one or two rooms. There are no floors built there and they were definitely tearing apart something concrete. That's the reason the glass isn't all the way across the press box.
  17. I'm still freaking out, big time. What I saw today has me concerned. The SE corner of the press box is getting torn apart. There's a pile of concrete rubble and chunks are getting torn out. There aren't even any floors or walls going in. It's just a big three-story hole that looks like it's being torn down instead of being built. No pictures? No camera. I know what I saw, though.

  19. I think it's a good thing that so many southern schools are moving up in the near future. First because the money will be split more ways within the C-USA and the Sun Belt, and second because the BCS majority is getting slimmer all the time. If they lose the majority they might force their conferences to go up to 12 teams all around in order to keep the numerical majority and maintain control.
  20. Here's an idea: promote the game to the point that it sells out for every seat except for 10000 season tix. The you can say the only way in in is to buy a season ticket, and people will start buying those. The prices are a steal for a stadium that nice.
  21. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bracketology?id=3232345We're a 12-seed going to Spokane to play UCLA. I like the 12-5 matchup, but constantly going to the pacific NW might get old.
  22. http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-blog/...extends_co.htmlYes! Thank you Mack Rhoades for still doing your job even when you're on the way out.
  23. It's time to start campaigning to get butts in seats for the grand opening. Where is the huge marketing push that should be starting right about now to get it to stick in peoples minds? Here's a start: Facebook Event - Add it and then invite all your friends. oh, and marketing department? get to work.
  24. If UH expects Mack to get people to come to games, they're gonna be severely disappointed. Attendance went down dramatically for both football and basketball under his watch at Akron. Mack is good at making connections with corporations, but it came at the expense of putting fan relations on the back-burner.
  25. The weather is pretty bad today. It's supposed to storm all week, too.At this point most of the construction should be happening indoors, though. Wiring, plumbing, etc.
