  1. Let them ignore us. Let them try to badmouth a kid who's still in High School. Whatever. Pitt fans have the most inflated sense of self-importance in college athletics.I've got a good feeling about this game. KD has been holding some things back in the first few games. We saw Coblentz, Humpty, and Nikola make their debuts, but there's more to this team than what we have seen so far. KD said that he has lots of different ways he can play Pitt, from speeding the game up and using our depth at the guard positions, to completely slowing it down and using 34 seconds every possession. Not many teams are that flexible and it says a lot if KD thinks he can use any play style he sees fit.
  2. Is he not healthy, or has coach D just kept him on the bench so far? I was looking forward to possibly seeing him go up against that big 320# guy from Canisius. Not sure if my source is reliable () but I heard from one of the players that Steve is a little bit slow for JD's current speedy lineup. He is a beast on one end of the court but still needs to come into his own. My source says, and I quote, "He just needs to realize what a beast he can be."Looking forward to French's call on the game tonight. I have some other stuff to take care of that will prohibit my attendance. So, from your post it doesn't look good for tonight??So why did KD recruite him if he is not going to play him??A waste of talent if you ask me.The guy's a redshirt freshman. I bet we'll see him as the season wears on.
  3. http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/stories/...17/daily17.htmlI think it says more about the local economy than anything else. At least we aren't Stanford, where housing prices average $1.7 million!
  4. We're not the Akron team they played last year, either. This game is two unknown quantities playing against each other. It could come down to who has the most raw talent, and maybe a little home-court advantage.
  5. Winthrop and Akron are like mirror images of each other right now. Both teams are ridiculously young.
  6. Winthrop message board
  7. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_261_Women.htmlIt's not up on GoZips.com yet, but the new-look lady Zips played a heck of a game to beat Michigan at the JAR in the home and season opener. It's really, really early but this looks to be a great win and a confidence booster for the team.
  8. I hope there are enough fans to make an impact at both games.
  9. There is a National Championship at stake in Soccer. The best the football team can possibly hope for is a trip to Detroit in winter to play an Big Ten also-ran.Don't expect coverage on a national scale. I do expect it on a local scale, though, because this is hands-down the best sports team in this area, at any level.
  10. That's huge. We'll see if it had any impact tomorrow on the selection show. Also, Nice pics everyone!
  11. Akron pulled it out despite the weather. The tournament seeds will be announced on Monday, November 17th at 6:00PM on ESPNews. I think there is a watching party happening at the JAR for this, which is just an hour before the Women's Basketball team takes on Michigan at home.
  12. Akron is tied 0-0 at the half against NIU. It's quickly becoming a blizzard.
  13. http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/34506939.htmlHopefully we can put this thing to good use.
  14. The refs were twice as bad as the football refs yesterday. The MAC is desperate to get two teams in the NCAA tourney. Just wait until Sunday; it could be ten times worse.
  15. Day TWO of the Longest Weekend in Zips HistoryTM saw Akron again get the wrong end of the refs' calls, but this time we pulled it out to win in PK contest.Tomorrow continues the marathon Zips week as mens basketball takes on Canisius at the JAR at 7:00PM. Sunday has the Men's Soccer team playing NIU in the MAC finals at 2:00 at the Jack, and the Women's Basketball team playing Michigan in the JAR that night.
  16. I'm feeling better and better about this game as we get closer to kickoff. My prediction: Zips win!Buffalo has never been in a game that means something, before. They will fold.
  17. Just ignore them and focus on the game.
  18. That's some fine geography work there, Lou.
  19. It's the old baseball field on the other side of Exchange street.
  20. 11/4 ATTENDANCE: 16,058 (Competing with election night)Thanks for answering. Am I correct that it was the Bulls' first game on national TV? I heard that somewhere, but I don't know if it was true.
  21. Oh well. Still, if it gets the word out for students to come, it will be worth it.
  22. LOL, you sure got me 5,000 is a joke... but ATTENDANCE: 10,134 at your last game is nothing to really brag about is it?And just what is your home attendance average for mid-week games at 8PM in the middle of November?
  23. I was at one yesterday. They had a whole stack of vouchers left. Maybe each pharmacy had a limited supply, and once they're gone, they're gone. The guys in the ticket office didn't think it would sell out when I turned in the vouchers, but they did say to expect the biggest crowd of the season.
  24. I'm standing in the JAR right now, and lots of the people that work in the athletics department have huge smiles on their faces.
