In the middle of recruiting season, the last thing you want is for teams which are competing for the same recruits to have big wins on national TV. Hoping they get rolled is the best thing for Akron.

Retail stores already to charge this fee. You won't find a single place where you can purchase something with a credit card and not be charged the fee in some way. In most stores, it's figured into the actual price of the product, which means you pay the CC fee even when you pay in cash.With the tuition freeze, UA and other schools can't just silently put this cost into the tuition, and so they are forced to have it as a separate, visible fee.

The West drags down the whole conference. It's an automatic 6 extra cupcakes on your schedule, which can single-handedly kill your chance at an at-large (See Miami, whi plays a murderer's row schedule every year, only to have any benefits wiped out by playing their conference schedule). The west champ takes one of the top two seeds in the tournament, even when it's exceedingly clear that they aren't even one of the top four teams and deserving of a first round bye.

The trick isn't really to increase budgets to be able to pay coaches more. Of course, that would be nice and would help out with keeping good coaches, but the best coaches will leave no matter what we pay them. The least the MAC schools can do is to put an achievement-based buyout clause into the contract. A good coach would have a much higher buyout than a losing coach. That gives the school some extra money to offer a replacement. I don't understand why MAC schools don't do this when you know that as soon as any MAC coach has a decent to good season he will leave at the first chance he gets.

What's funny is that those kinds of salaries don't even compare to coordinator jobs at some other schools.

I'm actually changing my major to Computer Science after this semester, and so far my experience with the department has been pretty good. Some of the earlier classes might be a bit frustrating if you already have a background in programming, but stick with it because it just gets better the further you go.

So... back on topic. This Diamond guy looks like a good pick up at Corner.

Scout now has him as a "soft verbal" to Akron. Looks like we're out as soon as an offer from a "name" school comes along. I've never understood the preference of riding the pine for years just to say you played at a certain school, when being a top star in the MAC virtually guarantees that an NFL team will draft you, and if you're good enough draft you quite early.

The East side looks just about right. If you look at the renderings, it has the East stands being about 6 stories tall, the same as the proposed dorms.

Were recruiting tons of receivers this year. We only need one to step up in order to allow Jones to move back to defense.

If that's the case, we could always go after Michigan's DC, Scott Shafer, who resigned a few days ago. If I recall, defense wasn't exactly a glaring problem for Michigan this past season.

Turner Gill just announced that he's staying at Buffalo until 2013 (at least, that's when his contract ends). I'm amazed he wasn't picked up by a bigger school, but he will now have his hands full at UB without Willy and Starks there to lead the offense.

I really don't understand where people keep getting the idea that Dambrot will recruit a JUCo wingman for next season. Akron has one scholarship to give, and it's going to Zeke Marshall. I seriously doubt that KD can convince a JUCO player to come here as a walkon who would contribute immediately.

It's a cycle. The ABJ writes a story about something, and the masses eat it up thinking that since it was in the news then they should care about it. Then the ABJ points to their readers liking what they're told, and uses that as an excuse to print more articles about it.

I'm somewhat certain on steve leaving, though i guess i wont say any more on it than that. I wish it wasn't the case but having an MLS first pick come out of your school sure is going to look good for the program.And having a Premier League player looks even better.

Personally, I'm glad the Zips aren't a team with more arrests than rebounds. How can anyone honestly say that they prefer to cheer for a college team where more media coverage comes from the crime watch than the sports section?

Our schedule is infinitely better than it was in 2007.

I don't think Elton did his homework on this one.1. We can't recruit another player for 2009. Even if Conyers is denied another year, his scholarship will likely go to a deserving Darryl Roberts.2. We've done just fine without recruiting ANY at-risk kids or JUCOs for five years straight. Why mess with a formula that is proven to work by throwing instability into the mix?

I've retaken every calc class once. It's not so much the difficulty, it's just that I can't seem to dedicate myself the first time I take them. I always skip out on class.I get at least a B every time I retake them though.I'm devoting an entire semester to taking only Calc 2. If that doesn't get me a passing grade, nothing will.

Then it looks like I might be out $20!

So if Boise was offered to play a bowl game in Muncie for far less money than they could have gotten to play in one close to their fans, would you call them chicken as well?

So Zips Zone doesn't carry video of the home games anymore, or what? Didn't they have them all last year?
