The Beacon has their priorities backwards. Not long from now (if it's not like that already), more people will go to the internet for their news than waiting for the paper to be delivered.
The MAC is actively (sort of) trying to keep our soccer team in this conference, since we're the only thing they have going for them in this sport. The best they could do was add Hartwick and a horrible FAU team. Any conference in the country would kill to have a program like this. We should shop around for the best deal.
Coach Dennison remembers the Rubber BowlI didn't know that the reason the endzone is closed is because of an underground spring. The area will likely collapse pretty soon, now that they have stopped pouring concrete.
Nostalgia is all this city has left, other than UA. Thursday's game combines the two.The BJ has been pushing the death of the Rubber Bowl all season although they rarely mention its main occupants, instead opting to focus on the sideshows like obscure concerts or crappy high school games. People will go to their first Zips games because they want to see the place one last time. I'm bringing my mother and sister to their first Zips game ever because they want to be able to say goodbye to a place where they watched their own high schools play games and saw a few concerts. This is a great opportunity to add to our small "casual fan" base.
Ohio State, Ohio State, you suck, you suck, you suck.Ohio State, Ohio State: no nuts, no nuts, no nuts.Nuts on your chest,The Gator Chop's the best!Ohio State, Ohio State, you suck, you suck, you suck!
I don't care whether there will be 20 fans or 20,000 fans there. I'm still going to cheer for the Zips to take control of their own destiny and I still plan on sending the old Rubber Bowl out with style.
He's running vertical, instead of going sideways. The line has a lot to do with it, as well, since DK sems to be on the same page as them it makes everything work much better.
I can't get a feel for this team at all. Nobody played for more than five minutes at a time before being subbed out, and everybody's shot was off. We had trouble defending the three, which was Walsh's primary weapon. Nate did some things that I saw showed his presence as a senior. This team has great potential, but we will go through lots of growing pains. As an observation, I don't think anybody for the Zips played at full speed. I saw bursts of speed from a few players, but they kept it toned down. A few guys didn't play that I wanted to see, but we might be hiding them from future opponents (I hope).
Navy has already accepted an invite to play in the Eaglebank bowl in D.C. If the ACC gets 9 teams eligible, that's one less bowl for the MAC (we had the back-up agreement).
Seems he was suspended for one game by Mack Rhoades for not attending class.Anyways, I don't think we can win next week unless the defense stops blowing leads.
The players are hungry. They have it set in their minds that this is their chance to win the East. They have worked on fundamentals that they were sketchy on in the first half of the season, and they have had 18 days to prepare for the Rockets. We will win tonight.
Pretty nice write-up. Obviously, I agree with your prediction. There's just so much more on the line for Akron than for Toledo. Akron is fighting to win the East, while Toledo has nothing to play for but pride and a coach who has abandoned them (If you read what the Toledo players have to say, they are devastated. They really liked Tom.).
That's pretty neat, actually. I didn't even make the connection until you pointed it out. Two people that are #44 who will change the face of the organization they are a part of. Cool!
If they lost to Xavier by 4 points each half, that's a major improvement over last year's scrimmage.I don't have any details because it was closed to the press and to fans. The only people who know about it are the refs, coaches, and players. I don't know how well I can trust a freshman's perspective on how well the scrimmage went, though, since they have nothing to really compare it to.
http://www.ohio.com/news/top_stories/33810169.htmlthis article is so full of inaccuracies and ignorance that I could barely finish it. I'm think that they have figured out that the more educated people live here, the more people will see this "newspaper" is utter crap.STUDENTS DO NOT PAY FOR THE STADIUM! STUDENTS DO NOT PAY FOR THE STADIUM! STUDENTS DO NOT PAY FOR THE STADIUM! STUDENTS DO NOT PAY FOR THE STADIUM! WAAARRRRGH! How many times does it need to be said?At orientation, there is a family-oriented one where parents don't have to pay to hover over their children. This guy didn't do his homework. Plus, the fee covers an extra part of the program where parents do their own separate thing. You gotta let your kid go, they're in college now.As for the credit-card fee thing at Can't, you are incredibly naive if you don't think that restaurants don't factor in those fees into their menu item prices.
It's the penultimate game at the Rubber Bowl. The entire season hangs on the line.On top of it all, we get an interesting rumor to spice things up: Tom Amstutz to step downWhat kind of psychological impact will that have on his team? Could this be to Akron's advantage?
