  1. End of first half, still tied 1-1. Akron is usually a second-half team, right? I don't want a tie, I want a win.
  2. So what about all the morons that wore OSU gear all week to classes at UA? They outnumbered people with Zips gear (Not Akron gear, Zips gear. There is a difference).I didn't ask them why they wore it, I already knew what they would say, which is the same response the Akron B(low) J(ob) would give: OSU is big-time, Akron is small stuff, this is just a scrimmage. You know, the same response that they would have given when UA was D-II. I blame it all on the BJ (you are located in AKRON, idiots) and UA marketing (I have yet to see a significant marketing campaign targeted at the community, i.e. not businesses paying for empty seats).
  3. Damn. Akron NEEDS to win. Otherwise, we fall in the polls and out of the respect of the NCAA once again.
  4. I've been waging a war on the Ohio.com comment's section for a little while, as have some others here. Lets see if they notice. So far, not a single author has responded to either praise or getting blasted.
  5. Foul on Wake. Man, I hope Akron takes this one BIG.
  6. Akron strikes first! UA 1, WK 0 in the 3rd minute!
  7. Apathy is the lack of emotion that occurs when a person really just doesn't care.
  8. The game starts at 7:30, right? So it starts at kickoff.
  9. The weather forcast for Columbus for 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 8th:Thunderstorms, 82°F, 70% chance of rain, 71°F Dew point 79% Humidity, Wind From S 6 mph
  10. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=269596Some select quotes: This one made me laugh. maybe they really overlooking us: I had no idea there was a guy named Dick Tressel. I'm using "Tressel, that Dick" from now on and when OSU fans complain I'll correct them about their own team's coach's name. How's that upcoming Washington game looking?
  11. Why don't we have a statue of John Heisman somewhere on campus (near the athletic facilities) or by the Rubber Bowl? The guy's a legend, and he was both the quarterback and head coach of our team. We have a giant picture of Huggins hanging in the JAR, and yet the only thing I know of that even acknowledges Heisman's legacy at UA is a log cabin in the woods behind the Rubber Bowl. That has to change. I bet that hardly anybody that doesn't follow the Zips as close as the most rabid fans (that would be us) knows that he had anything to do with the school.I think there should be a bronze statue of him like the ones of great players outside other stadiums. Put it in front of the new stadium's main gate, where everyone can see it, not like the cabin in the woods outside our current stadium.
  12. Some scissors, superglue, and a little creativity will allow for you to raise which ever finger you would like to.
  13. No official pep rallys or "skull sessions", or whatever you want to call them, will happen because it means that the University will actually have to do something that could get the fans involved. You know how much they hate those people that keep interfering with the nice quiet atmosphere of home games and make it difficult to sell gigantic empty blocks of seats to companies that don't send anybody to sit in them.
  14. I can now confirm that they are selling the foam fingers in the JAR. They have quite a few of them, so pick one up to take with you to Columbus.
  15. Wake Forest fans seem excited about it, too, based on their message boards. It would probably have been the biggest thing in sports for their fans if Nebraska wasn't playing them in football tomorrow.
  16. Honestly, I didn't care either way who won. For all I cared it could have been USC vs LSU, and it wouldnt have made a difference. Neither OSU nor Florida sparks any type of emotion in me, because neither of them have anything to do with me in any way whatsoever. I just didn't care, although it's always nice to see an underdog win like that because it makes all the media people look like the idiots that they are.
  17. Um... no. Make that most big ten teams, then.
  18. The guys at BuckeyePlanet have certainly done their homework. They have more info about Akron than I've ever seen the local rag have over the last 10 years combined. There is still a slight bias towards their own players when comparing positions head to head, (depth is the only real difference between MAC teams and Big 10 teams, not starting talent) but I'll let that slide.http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/news/60...me-preview.htmlAlso, they have broken down our past recruiting classes. They were very thorough. Oh, and the retention of our recruits are worse than I ever imagined.http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/news/60...nformation.htmlSome of their information is incorrect, but for the most part, this is hands down more in-depth than anything I have seen in the local media or any other opponents' previews, with the exception of Rasor's Blog.
  19. They were selling the foam finger at the Zips team shop booth set up inside Browns Stadium. I assume that means that they have them at the JAR, or at the team shop at the Rubber Bowl during games.
  20. Temple only joined in Football. They have no affiliation with MAC basketball or any other sport. Kind of the opposite of what would make sense, give Temple's recent football play.
  21. A win over OSU would dwarf winning the MACC, without a doubt. Akron would get far more TV time, mentions all over the news both nationally and locally. All those idiots that live within five minutes of campus that have their houses decked out in OSU crap and all of our students that are rooting for their own school to lose on saturday would be forced to shut up. If we can beat OSU , then we most certainly can beat Indiana and UConn. Then we only need to win 3 MAC games to get ourselves to a bowl. The Rubber Bowl would sell out for all four home games, and would likely collapse at the end of the season from all the use it's getting, forcing Akron to play at Browns stadium all next year.Best of all, the ABJ will have to finally acknowledge that there is, in fact, a D-IA football school located across the street from them.
  22. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/9580052.htmlRight in the middle of two blurbs about Akron players getting honors in Volleyball and Soccer, there lies this little tidbit:2 on womens basketball team suspended by Can't StateTwo Can't State basketball players, sophomore guard Jamilah Humes and junior guard Chytearra Kintchen, were suspended indefinitely, the university announced Tuesday. The suspensions followed their arraignment Friday on felony charges of receiving stolen property.Under school policy, they will remain in school and under scholarship, pending the outcome of legal proceedings. In related news, Can't State SUCKS! Buncha of felons over there in hippy country.
