  1. KD isn't leaving, so I don't know why you guys are talking about his "legacy". The Zips will be even better next year, at least on paper. We will have one more player on the roster than we had this year, and everyone will be able to contribute. He has taken the Zips farther than they have ever been before, even under Bob Huggins. Wait until KD leaves Akron to discuss his legacy.
  2. They only pulled back the curtains on the side opposite the team benches. They weren't very full up in the 3rd tier nosebleeds, but it was a record crowd for the semis.
  3. Not only does it suck that we are seated so high, but we all pretty much had to move over into one section because if we went by our tickets we would have been spread around the whole dang arena. I brought 2 other rowdies to the game last night. My ticket was in section 118. One other ticket was section 116 and another was like section 101. You would think that if they are selling student tickets that they would at least make an attempt to put them all in one section. I noticed that. I am wondering why UA didn't just buy a large block of tickets concentrated in 4 or 5 sections so we could all be grouped together. I am also wondering why so many Can't State fans were in the sections surrounding the main group of Rowdies. It's a bad ticket policy.
  4. Well, that's about twice as many people than those who attended the regular season match-ups, so I can't really complain. And do you know what the best part is? at least 6,000 of them were Akron fans!
  5. Woah! Did I just break the filter?!
  6. To be honest, I wasn't that impressed with what I saw from Can't at last night's game. I left at halftime, but from what I saw they looked pretty tired and they just weren't playing well. The only reason they won is because Western Michigan was playing even worse than they were. I think that us blowing out CMU was huge. We kept our starters fresh, while Can't State was struggling to maintain a lead for most of tha game.Plus, Can't State went to sleep much later than the Zips (I would hope), given that their game ended near midnight, plus they had the press conference and all that before they could go back to the hotel and get some sleep.I'll see everyone at the game.
  7. I want to extend an invitation to everyone to sit next to the Rowdies tonight, depending on how leniant they are with th seating. We're wearing blue shirts to better distinguish ourselves from kents fans and their awful piss-yellow shirts. Everyone, not just the Rowdies, had better stand up and be loud. Oh, and I believe that if we can get the Can't State student section to chant the F*** Akron chant or at least give us the finger en masse, they could get kicked out. Those guys at the Q aren't joking around.
  8. Dials and Linhart are TOUGH! Dials seems to get whacked in the face every other game, and Linhart is still diving for loose balls and playing good defense even with a broken finger. I hope they rested really well last night. We'll need all the help we can get if we want to blow out Can't State instead of just beating them.
  9. I don't really mind LeBron saying "Akron U". He is not a media guy, or an official representative of the team. He's just another local fan from the area, and that is what the area knows UA as. Of course I wish that people would refer to us as UA, but "Akron U" is so engraved into people's minds that it will take a long time to change it.
  10. This is disconcerting...I hate having to track down Zips apparal in stores like a private detective. I don't want it to be as common as the cheap OSU crap you see even in Discount Drug Mart. But I would loveto just be able to walk into your typical sports store and buy some Roo gear. Having the mysteriousZips store in the JAR open sporadically is the dumbest marketing move ever.p.s. I don't mind the shirt having the dreaded Can't logo on it, I wouldn't wear it personally. Though I would buy it for someone if some money went toward Zips athletics. I just think it's cool to build up the rivalry and get as much mileage out of it as possible. Man you definately feel my pain...I have resorted to only shopping online for "quality zips gear" cause nothing burns my ass more than when I drive 2 hours north, go to the jar and the damn store isn't open, for no good reason. The closest store that I know of that sells nice Zips gear is Kohls on Arlington road near I-77. That's where I get most of my "unofficial" Zips stuff.
  11. I have just read from Vandelay on the MAC forums that due to this year's scheduling debacle, only division games will count for a team's conference record. Here is the discussion. If you read that, this decision could cause some pretty weird outcomes regarding who becomes division champions.
  12. Please let it be so. I would love nothing more than to see Can't's season ruined tonight. Forget playing them Friday. Western would be a better match-up because they would have played two games by the time we play them.
  13. Crap. Now I wish I were able to drink (legally).
  14. I'll see you all tomorrow at the game! Go Zips!
  15. Is that the final score?Central gave us a tough time at home. I think we won 77-71. I was really hoping for Buffalo to win this one. CMU won't be an easy win.
  16. I have determined that if BG wins, it will help our RPI more than if Ohio wins. A win by BG would be great because we beat them twice, but we only beat OU once. Plus, it's always nice when Ohio chokes like they tend to do.
  17. That's a bit closer than I expected.
  18. I would believe that if they didn't have 20 high school football games there every year. I just think it is because the University won't stand up for themselves. They backed off when Indiana complained about playing here, and look how that worked out.
  19. Looking at the drawing they showed on the newscast, it will be a highschool stadium aproximately half the size of the fieldhouse. I really hope that is just a concept drawing showing that they are planning to have more than just a stadium in that space.
  20. Oh man. If you didn't say that was a dream, I would say that has a very good possibility of happenning if we ever play OSU here. Good thing they don't have the cajones to play non-BCS teams on the road, instead of leaving the comfort of their own stadium.
  21. It sounds like a good idea at first, but our recruiting would decline because it it much harder to attract good players to play in bad conferences. Plus we would get less money.
  22. This is the 5th day in a row with a story on UA athletics dominating the sports page.http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/sports/16842803.htmI guess with all the excitement concerning the Basketball team, the fact that the baseball team is 4-1 has been lost in the shuffle. Congrats to te baseball team, and I can't wait untill you guys start playing back here in Akron. Keep up the good work!
  23. The win over Tiffin doesn't count in the eyes of the selection committee, because they are a non-Division I team.
  24. I objectively thought that the refs did an OK job on both sides, except for a few blatently obvious wrong calls that came at key points in the game for both teams. I like to call that "choking". The refs are fine when they don't have to be on their toes, but once the pressure is on...
