They have construction starting on March 3rd next year.

Just to let everybody know, student tickets are going to be on sale starting Tuesday at the JAR. If you don't already have yours, you had better get them fast.

I think they took it back down. They put up last week's poll again.

I have noticed a trend the past couple of years where teams that have signed with Nike have had their uniforms re-designed in horrific ways. Oregon's football uni's are an example, as are the re-designed OSU uniforms that make them look just like all the other red-wearing teams. When these changes took place they were not popular at all. And now, to top it all off, they want to change how basketball uniforms look too. I am very afraid that if we sign with Nike, they would make our uniforms look like Can't's. Nike seems to only use solid primary and secondary colors, so gold would become yellow and the blue would be brighter. Here is what they are planning to do to OSU, Syracuse, and Florida starting, I believe, next year. http://men.style.com/news/style/030507

http://midmajortop25.com/Right here. They usually don't update it until 8:30 PM or later.

They mention the "silly" UALR loss and I tend to agree. That loss still bothers me and it was our season opener. The main reason it hurt us is because it forced us to play #268 Gardner Webb instead of #40 Texas Tech. Just think of what that would done for our RPI, win or lose. I guess it really doesn't matter. Just win the MAC tournament. That's all we need to worry about right now.

Liang Kennedy(sp?) was standing next to the Can't State student section when the fingers started flying and when they started doing the F*** Akron chant. I don't know if he yelled at them or simply ignored them, although considering his position I would expect him to have told the students to stop. I know that if the AK-Rowdies did that in the JAR, we would be banished to the rafters.

It's not who, but when? When is the announcement? I hope it is coming soon. Maybe it will coincide with the stadium announcement, since that is the next big scheduled football-related press conference.

Great move by Can't State trapping Dials often. Worked on him several times. Good coaching.Thank goodness Dials made them pay at the end with a great pass. He needs to elevate his offensive game at the Q. Speaking of Dials, does anyone remember when there were about 18 seconds on the clockin OT and Dials was bringing the ball out. Can't State tried to foul him but the refs would not call a damn thing, so we had to use our final timeout to avoid the 5 second violation. I really don't know what those refs were thinking. Can't State did that all night to Dials and there were no calls, and we were complaining about it, so its kind of ironic that the final no-call benefitted us by allowing us to set up the game winning shot.

You are correct. I don't believe this. You would think that at least the few people who had us ranked would have given us votes again. Its not like we lost at all, infact, we won 3 road games in a row since the last poll. Does anybody know where you can find out who gave us votes last week? I would love to send them a e-mail, and I'm sure a few of you guys wouldn't mind joining me as well.

With all this excitement, I almost forgot that the new AP, Coaches, and Mid-Major Top 25 polls come out today. We've won 3 road games in a row since the last polls, so that can only help us. We had 3 votes in the last AP poll, 7 votes in the last Coaches poll, and we were #9 in the last Mid-Major Top 25. A lot of teams ahead of us have lost at least one game this past week, but I don't expect us to gain much ground in the AP. I think we will do much better in the Coaches poll, and we should jump at least two spots in the MM Top 25.I think our only shot at an at-large lies in the hands of the voters in these polls. The selection committee has to look long and hard at any team that does well in these polls. I know a lot of things need to fall our way to get in, and the polls are a major part of it. Alternatively we could just win the MAC tournament to get in, but that would make too much sense, and sense is not something I am willing to think about right now.

I missed it. What play was it?
-
Bowling Green beats Miami 68-64. That is a huge upset that could allow Ohio to get a first round bye.
-
OMG its a hippie zombie dictator! EVERYBODY PANIC!
-
The Zips are underdogs because the oddsmakers are assuming that Can't State will have full home court advantage. We all know that's not the case.
-
Here's a picture of Can't State's seating chart for those who've never been there before.Looking at that, where is the best place for extremely loud and crazy Zips fans to sit?I wonder if UA got general admission tickets for its students, or if they have got a visitor's section behind the Zips' bench like in the JAR.

sgm405, youve pretty much said everything I wanted to say, so I'll give the cliff's notes version. :PThis game would be our best road win of the season. It is always huge when we play Can't State, but this is for the MAC East title, all of the momentum going into the tourney, and if we win we have the confidence to know that there is no way Can't State can beat us on a neutral court. Also, did anyone else know that Tomorrow is Quade Milum's birthday? We'll have to cheer extra for him or something.

I'll be pre-gaming at UA waiting for the bus to leave.

Akron makes front page of Yahoo sports

I didn't catch the thing on WKYC. Actually, I'm talking about WEWS. The other stations do a pretty good job covering the Zips, when they can get footage. -

It seems like our media interest is peaking at the right time. We're getting votes in both polls, our local newspaper is running articles almost daily that take up large chuncks of real-estate, and national news outlets are starting to pick up on the hype as well. Now, if only the local TV news would catch on, too. -
The Rowdies really are making a name for themselves. They have gone to almost every away game within driving distance and out-cheered thousands of people. It obviously helps if the Zips are winning. I'm hoping that the Rowdies will grow as an organization next year and hopefully our administration will start to respect us as much as the other schools do.

That concept if self fulfilling, though. This isn't knock on the Beacon, but an observation on the Media in general. If they only report Ohio State stories, or only Can't State stories, then that is all the public wil be interested in because it is the only thing they know they should be interested in. Then the media will point to the publics interest (that the media created) and say that is what the people want to hear, so they report it even more. The Beacon does a pretty good job of covering Zips basketball. I have more of a problem with the TV news stations. I wonder if we will get anything more than a passing comment on Sunday night after the game. If we do get a mention, it usually comes off as an "Aww... isn't that cute, they think they're big-time" comment. We will probably get lumped in with the high school playoffs while OSU gets a bigger segment when they beat up on dissapointing Big Ten team #5 or something.
-
I hope it is a night game. A lot more students will go to the games later at night because they should be done with class by then.
-
I'd like to think so, but Frenchy just said they only hit 63 percent from the line. Weird. It sounded like they made more than that. Maybe they only made the more important ones during the course of the game.
