  1. Eh..that is tough to say. While I hope you are right, not sure if they were getting more than 35,000 for their HOME games last year. Might possibly travel better than Indiana though. Indians are not at home, not sure if the Air Show in Cleveland is enough of a draw. Plus, Syracuse fans might be more apt to take the trip the next week to Seattle to see Syracuse @ Washington.I expect upwards of 500-1000 Cuse fans. Really hard to tell how many.
  2. Hey guys:Can you give me a primer on what to expect? I'm bringing maybe upwards of 30 folks to tailgate in Akron for Sept 4th.Any lessons learned from 2009 on tailgating. Is there a good spot we should try to get? Actually I hope to meet some of you guys...our group is a bunch of good guys/gals who enjoy the comraderie of football with other teams' fans. Can visiting fans park in the yellow credentialed lots or must we go to the blue lots? If we have to go Blue..do any of them have grassy spots to set up?What are the must do restaurants, bars in Akron?Any good motels to recommend?Any speciality foods? Is there a decent golf course nearby...one that is fairly affordable (maybe under $35 for a round)BTW, Akron did a nice job on your Gameday CentralThanks for your help...Mark
  3. Hopefully one of you guys have a contact inside the AD office...the national scheduling websites are not real timelyFat chance Texan. You're going to find that nobody who posts here with any regularity seems to have access to any worthwhile inside info on the program. Was afraid of that....well I'm hearing they may announce by the end of the month...I expect to get up for the game....will be bugging you guys about tailgates and where to set up. Enjoyed meeting your fans at the Dome. I'll keep you guys posted what I hear.

  5. Cuse fan here...I'm hearing we are now going to open up at your place on Sept 4th as opposed to Sept 18th. Can you guys confirm?
  6. He's an enigma. His weight could swing 40lbs over a given season. 245...then 205. He dropped a high percentage of balls tossed his way.I am surprised he still wants to play ball. We'll see if he sticks it out over summer camp. Our new coach Doug Marrone is very demanding..he shed alot of the weak sisters of the team. We basically had 55 scholarship kids by season's end after defections/injuries. He actually had a few JUCOs/transfers leave in tears after a few days of preseason practice.I'll be at the game in Infocision in September. I expect to set up a tailgate for 15-20 SU fans.
  7. Here is an article from his hometown paper. As a Cuse fan we are looking forward to him coming. Not sure if he'll be a starter but should be at least 2nd string. Hopefully you don't rag him too bad in September. Jose Cruz
  8. http://www.syracuse.com/slideshows/091026_AKRON.ssfWell hopefully you guys can get some of the youth valuable experience. I expect to check out your new stadium next fall. Good Luck Beat Can't.LOL I didn't realize Superman was really: Clark Can't
  9. Orangeyes does a listing of articles at the Syracuse Scout Board...enjoyhttp://forums.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=185&...6&t=4985462The scout board has several threads about Akron this week. The morning Cuse paper has a great printable guide for the gamehttp://blog.syracuse.com/orangefootball/20..._at_syracu.htmlClick on the PDF file.
  10. So how many of you Zips are venturing 5 hours northeast?I predict kickoff temp to be 72 degrees and dry.
  11. The game is on SNY a regional sports network...any decent sports bar will have the game. SNY should not black out the broadcast. I suggest finding a sports bar that has Directv.
  12. Cuse fan here...passing on the game will be on Upstate NY on Time Warner Cable. It is also going to be on SNY. It is able to be picked up at any good sports bar. If you have the regional sports package on Diretv or Dish you'll get the game.http://web.sny.tv/schedule/index.jsp?ymd=20091024SNY TV InfoLet me know if you need any Syracuse travel, gameday info.
  13. Cornell would never leave the Ivy League--this is crazy talkYou realize that would scuttle their whole image? As long as Syracuse is in the Big East they wouldn't want to share the Big East with UB
  14. Yes I'm a season ticket holder. The single game tickets most likely will be at least $35 a ticket. Akron will sit in Section 111.
  15. Hope this is okay to post...if not, moderator delete and accept my apology.Anyway I have two sets of tickets available for the Akron@Cuse game. Two are on the 40 yard line up high next to the Akron coaches' box and I have two others in the upper corner endzone near the Akron visiting section. The two on the 40 yard line are $50 for the pair mailed to you. The two in the upper corner endzone are $30 for the pair mailed to you.Sight lines are excellent in the Dome. Beer is served LOLif interested send me an email to: texanmarktailgate@gmail.comThese will be much cheaper than Cuse tickets offered through Akron AD.
  16. Cuse fan here...Your stadium situation is like ours. I bet you'll have to be a donor to get the rights to pay to park there. The AD won't pass up an opportunity to make some $$$BTW, I'll need a couple of you guys to work with me next summer to get my Akron Tailgate and Visitors guide done. If you want to volunteer to help send me via PM your email address. I need a few of you with the local insight. It makes sense to do one on Akron as you seem to play several Big East teams. My Blog with the other schools already done.
  17. That makes sense...we are rumored to host Northwestern on September 19th, 2009. I bet we meet September 26th.
  18. Just found out Syracuse is hosting Minnesota on September 5th, 2009. We are traveling to Penn State on September 12th. So we'll be playing you in late September. Do you have a future schedule for 2009--even a partial one?
  19. You guys have any firm dates yet for 2009 nonconference games. Syracuse fans are thinking you guys come up for a game with us on September 5th, 2009. Can you confirm?Good luck with the rest of your season--I see it looks like you might make a bowl game. Syracuse is playing much better ball now...however, too little too late for 2008. Likely we'll have a new coach in 2009.
  20. You can buy the video feed from Syracuse for $5.95.
  21. I'm your point man. Just keep in mind the whole UA tailgating topic is a big unknown right now (stadium and lot construction still has a ways to go). I've yet to see a good University map detailing 2009 parking/tailgating plans. It'll eventually become clear, but for now we're all in the dark. Thanks sounds great. In the meantime look at my other guides and start researching when able:Lodging, Fine Dining, Casual Dining (for dining avoid the national chains--give me the local or regional flavor), Sports Bars, Golf Courses ( a couple muni hacker courses and a couple very nice courses), touristy stuff within an hour or two and one or two trendy, hot shopping centers for the ladies. Also, let me know if Ohio sells beer, wine in convenience and grocery sotores. Is hard liquor in state run places or liquor stores.Be sure to attach any links (most important part)The parking, stadium info can be filled in in August 09. My goal would be to have it ready for your 1st game in the new stadium.Bottomline the guide is written first for the visiting fan but should also be a nice reference for hometown fans too. I really appreciate you stepping forward. TM
  22. Maybe just the Cleveland FSN Ohio feed is showing the game. ESPN360 is also an option now.
  23. Skytop is where I'm headed also. Hey, TexanMark, is Skytop one big parking lot where we'll be able to easily able to seek out friendly faces?Yup very easy...you can tailgate, throw a frisbee...you guys ought to have someone bring a flag and fly it for a marker. SU fans should be pretty cool.Only down side is you need to catch a shuttle...if you are able body you can walk but it is probably 2 miles--but tree lined sidewalks for the most part through a nice neighborhoodEmpire Brewing is very good...Dinosaur BBQ is world famous...Armory Square is the best party spot in town for Friday night. Anyone from 21 to 60 will find a place they would be comfortable at. Another option if you wanna drink craft beer and watch college FB on Friday night is Syracuse Suds also in Armory Square. Dinosaur is about 4 blocks north of Armory Square down Franklin. Awful Als is a cigar bar in Armory for those that like cigars. Blue Tusk is one of the best drinking joints in the US. Clarks is the best Roast Beef around...try one with a slight buzz at 10pm and you'll agree. See my guide for all the links. One piece of advice...print out a map and keep it with you...the roads in Syracuse are confusingOk which one of you guys is going to host us in 2010? Anyone want to help me on developing a guide for Akron for 2009 send me a note.
  24. Read this first..click on Syracuse on the right side.Hmmm...thought I was gonna get some personalized advice. I guess if anyone is looking for me and my crew, we'll be at "Manley North" unless a better opportunity reveals itself. Lookin to get there around 1 to do some socializing.Well consider that link my personalized advice since I wrote it. Ask me if you have any followup questions. BTW, Manley North is a permit lot. Do you have access to a permit? If not I suggest Skytop located near Manley North see the link. You can catch a shuttle to the Dome from Skytop or walk.haha. I couldn't find "skytop" lot on that map. Is it that little group of blue lots all the way on the left? Other Zip fans parking anywhere in particular or playing it by ear? Would that be the best place to find fellow visiting fans? Are there any large tailgates friendly towards visitors? If so, where? I'd like to see some friendly faces I can offer tailgating to a small contingent of Zips. My only request is you reciprocate at your brand new stadium in 2010. Send me a PM with how many in your party. I'm located 2 blocks west of the Carrier Dome in the Fine Lot. My group is probably 20-25 strong this Saturday. Mostly fans from their 20s to early 50s. Some wives and a few kids. Of course beer drinking is authorized and practiced to the highest order but we are not a group into getting totally blotto playing beer pong. We do play cornhole, ladderball, etc... If you arrive early by 1pm your parking options are better...I'll help you with that. I'll trade cell phone numbers to help the rendezvous. I need to get any of you coming firmed up by Wednesday at the latest. We'll talk about what you can bring food, beer or money. The menu will be famous Hoffmann and Zweigle coneys, etc...maybe even Salt Potatoes. If you are short tickets--usually you can find them in the parking lot easily and for less than face value. I think I have one extra I'll let go for $10. TexanMark
