  1. Time Warner Cable will carry the game if you are in Upstate NY, Fox Sports Net Ohio will carry it in the Ohio area and nationwide via Directv and Dish Network (subject to black out). Additionally if you can not get FSN Ohio you can buy the video feed of the game from Syracuse University for $5.95. Just signup the day of the game. I've watched the feed before. The feed is usually good. You can go full screen and the quality is reasonable. If you don't have DSL, Broadband or faster I'm not sure if it'll work well.
  2. Read this first..click on Syracuse on the right side.
  3. *phew* I got mine for $4 from stubhub. Whole trip is gonna cost about $300 for two ($120 for hotel, 100 for gass, 10 for tix, 70 for miscellaneous). Not bad for a Zips mini vacation. Besides Lee and johnnyzip, anyone else goin?Shoot me any questions about where to stay, eat, park, tailgate in this thread.
  4. Matt the TV Guru sez FSN Ohio will pick up the game...and Cinci game too.Matt's TV website: Akron Thread at NCAAbbs
  5. No excuse to wait till 13 days before kickoff to post a time. Just got off the SU webpage and they still list it as TBA . Our website is amateur hour most of the time...I think they use lots of students. BTW, 3:30pm is the time as I mentioned in the first post.
  6. i ordered some tickets for this but have not gotten them yet...anybody else?BTW, if anyone needs 4 tickets a Cuse fan is selling 4 of them for $40 total. You'll be hard pressed to get them cheaper. He is a longtime poster.Stubhub.com I paid $4/ticket. They're sitting on my coffee table right now. Nice job--probably a Penn State fan who bought the $100 season ticket packages and are dumping all the other games. Is the printed cost $11?

  8. 3:30pm game will be on Time Warner Sports in Upstate NY. No excuse for some of youse guys not to drive the 5-6 hours over to Syracuse. PM me if you you want to be a judge at our tailgate...you'll have to eat some coneys/drink some beer and judge the best.Love mid afternoon kickoffs
  9. i'm about 72% sure it's 1pm. If no TV (and it appears likely) the game should either be at 1 pm or 1:30 pm
  10. Check my link and look under Sports Bar AlertLots of Cuse fans are cruising around Armory Square on Friday night (Try the Blue Tusk or Kitty Hoynes). Armory Square crowds run from the early 20s up to aging baby boomers. For a Brew Pub/sports bar in Armory Square try Syracuse Suds. A few blocks north of Armory Square is Dinosaur BBQ...it is always loaded with Cuse and Visiting Fans. You can checkout the bars on Friday on Marshall Street on the the SU campus--there is one sports bar on the campus--not sure what the Friday night crowds are (tend to think college aged). Out in the 'burbs try the Buffalo Wild Wings in Cicero or any of the Tully's Sports Bars usually have fans.Think I should shell out for an lower bowl seat or should my $5 upper bowl seat get me in with the fellow Zip fans?Just buy the cheapest possible ticket...walk down to section 111 or 112 (Akron Visiting Section), find an empty seat and sit with your buddies.Carrier Dome Seating Chart

  12. That is a good price......which Best Western was it if you don't mind?haha...airport best western. probably why it's so cheap. It is only 10 mins from the Dome and 5 mins from I-90. If you get in Friday--eat at the Clam Bar on South Bay Road. Very good seafood at a reasonable price. Writeup in the "Dining Away From the City Center" SectionClam Bar
  13. That is a good price......which Best Western was it if you don't mind?
  14. The game will no where be close to a sellout...expect 30,000-35,000 if we are 1-0 and 25,000 to 30,000 if we are 0-1. Plenty of cheap tickets can be had around the Dome...should be able to get a ticket for $10-15. BTW, don't worry about where the ticket is located. The ushers do not check your tickets with the crowds being so light. So you can always buy a ticket on the street and move over to the official Akron section. BTW, the Dome serves beer up to the beginning of the 2nd half. If the temperature for the game is predicted to be higher than 65-70 degrees--wear shorts and a t-shirt. The Dome gets very hot.
  15. I see it as a geography decision...if one the leagues can't fill those bowls the local organizers would like to have a team whose fans could drive to the bowl games. The Sun Belt is only the backup not the primary league. The Sunbelt teams are much closer to these bowls than MAC teams. With several more bowls than 2004 a 7-5 MAC should find a game.
  16. Awesome--Akron is the first group from the MAC! Hope to see more. goodthts sounds like you need to send some messages out to recruit a team...good on you.http://www.tailgatehaven.com/tgteams_global.cfm?Conf=Mid-American&/Football Tailgate Teams://http://www.tailgatehaven.com/tgteam... Tailgate TeamsThe tailgate group I'm part of is mostly board posters (Syracuse)...we range in age from the early 20s to early 60s. It was kinda weird meeting for the first time--"Are you "Touchdown Harry?" No, sorry... but after that it is neat having a tailgate group with fans of common interest.Tailgate Haven allows you to manage your tailgate with a template for every game. Your members check in with who is coming, you can post a menu, who is bringing what, you can post pictures and network with opponents. You can even creat your own webpage.BTW, the offer is still out to host some of you guys this September. I understand the lure of Camp Randall and Michie. My son was a West Point 2007 grad and going to a game at Michie is awesome. Regardless I plan to bring some of our group to your new stadium in 2010.If you want info on schools I've profiled go here...BTW, Army is under development so check back before Labor Day.Click on the right side for Teams
  17. So Akron doesn't tailgate at all? :(I demand an answer--I'm a "Junior Zippy" not some post 1-9 "Joey"
  18. So how is your tailgating scene?I suspect when your new stadium opens in '09 you'll get a boost. If you are interested in a site to manage your tailgate look into: TailgateHavenBTW, the tailgate group I'm part of in Syracuse is a friendly one--open to visiting fans. If a few of you are coming and need a host let me know. The Akron game we are having a Zweigle's vs Hoffman's coney challenge. We need some unbiased judges. Hopefully you guys can host our group in 2010 at your stadium. I need one spokesman for the group from Akron to relay numbers coming a few days out--we'll discuss whether you bring Food/Beer or cash to help out.
  19. Syracuse Suds is very good--they have a few large TVs to watch college football either before or after the game.Empire Brewing is excellent--food is better than Syracuse Suds IMHO but is more brew pub than sports bar. Both are in Armory Square.
  20. Not true--The Carrier Dome in Syracuse is on campus and I assure you can can drink all the overpriced beer you want until the end of halftime. So Kangaroo fans bring your $$$ to Syracuse this fall.BTW, Syracuse offers Bud products (Brewery in town) but if you go on the first level I heard you can find LaBatt's and SaranacClick on the Right Side For Syracuse Tailgate and Visitor Info
  21. FWIW, Syracuse will play in your new stadium on Sept 18th, 2010. I plan to be there. We have Akron playing in Syracuse in 2008 and 2009. Obviously, the 2009 game isn't happening on Sept 5, 2009 as originally planned with the recent announcement that Minnesota is playing @Syr on the same day.If anyone needs any info on Syracuse for this September's game just ask. (Tailgating, hotels, restaurants, etc....)
  22. Donavon McNabb isn't suiting up in 2009.Seriously, have you guys heard of a new date?
  23. My understanding was this game in 2009 was scheduled for Sept 5, 2009. Minnesota just announced they are coming to Syracuse to play us on the same date. Have you guys heard of a different date for 2009?Hoping to see some Zip fans in Syracuse this fall.
  24. My apologies--thought you were traveling to Cinci this season.BTW, as time gets closer the most sane Syracuse boards are Scout's or an independant Board RealCusefans. Stay away from the syracuse.com and Rivals forums. Is this the only Akron board or is there any others that are active?I saw pics of your new stadium and it looks like it'll be the best stadium in the MAC--congrats, it should help elevate your program to the top of the MAC.Anyone have any specific questions about the Cuse tailgate scene email me to my blog address.
  25. Hey ZipsI want to send you a link to help you with your travel to Syracuse and Cinci this Fall. Looking forward to playing you guys...first time ever meeting IIRC. Syracuse is about 5-6 hours away from NE Ohio so it should make for a nice weekend trip while the weather is still warm.My blog covers everthing a tailgate/visitor needs to know about their visit to any Big East School. Look on the right side for a link to Syracuse and Cinci. Enjoy...I'll check back to answer any follow on questions. I'll post more in the late August about the game proper.Looking forward to the return to Akron, I expect to be up there to enjoy your new stadium.TexanMark Tailgate/Visitors Guides
