  1. Good stuff but can you be more specific...what street intersection would put you in the middle of the bar district?
  2. Was wondering if you guys could give some recommendations of what to do in Akron Looking for restaurants, sports bars near the stadium Any special foods to try? What are the campus bars for the 20 somethings? I know alot of our fans are going to the Pro FB HOF...any tips? any discounts available? Any other good things to see? As Always Links are appreciated to restaurants, bars, etc.... I'm going to link this thread over to our board.
  3. We have our #1 and #2 tailbacks...Averin Collier was the third string.
  4. Few will arrive to tailgate before 1pm. I'm sure you will have no problem finding a large space to set up. Since the conversion to digital TV, not all network stations can be easily viewed in Akron. I'm guessing one or two is the best you can hope. We'll be in Lot #9, directly behind the main scoreboard. If you want to stop in for a beer before you enter the gate, just let me know. Thanks I'm telling everyone we are tearing down NLT 5pm. I hope to be walking through Lot 9 by 5:30 pm...hopefully enough time to have a quick one. I'd like to be in my seat by kickoff. Man I'm getting excited...hmmmm maybe I'll start setup by Noon. Let's hope for no rain, light winds and 76-78 degrees (just warm enough for the coeds to wear shorts and tank tops). That sucks about the TV reception.
  5. I'm a big fan of lot 34. Plenty of space and not traffic. 1. We arrived really early last year and we just set up shop. No issues. 2. It doesn't matter if you get there early. Follow the Garmin. 3. Don't know about 43 but parking was $5 for 34 last year. 4. Did not see a shuttle but I got picked up by the campus and bar shuttles on exchange street and dropped off right by Spicer. The bus drivers are nice and will stop for you. If that doesn't work, you can drive your car to the area by the soccer field w/o leaving the parking lot pay controlled area. It is about 200-300 yards from that point to the Info. 5. There are many regulars in 34. Beer relays, music, and corn hole are the norm. Again, plenty of space for all. 6. You will be fine in lot 34 as long as you don't wear Can't State gear. I don't think you would have any issues at all. A few rowdy parties but many families as well. We will have a group of 15-20 ex Akron athletes, friends and family in our group. All that we can hope for is nice weather and Syracuse to come out flat... Thanks great stuff...expect I'll set up in one of the corners of the Lot. If we bring a small LCD TV and a set of kangaroo (rabbit) ears can we pick up ABC, NBC, CBS, etc??? from Akron? BTW, if I arrive by 1pm should the lot be pretty vacant so I could set up in one of the corners? I hope you come by and have one of our famous Hoffman White Coneys...from Syracuse.
  6. Okay it is Lot 34 for us... Couple questions 1. I assume the lots open at 2pm...can a few in the tailgate party get in earlier than 4 hours prior to set up canopies? Or are the lots chained? 2. What is the preferred ingress route for Lot 34 coming off the Interstate? Would it be Buchtel Ave, left on Hill St, right on University Ave, left on Wolf Ledges Pkwy? 3. Is Lot 43 acrss the street a cash lot too? are both lots $5 or $10 on gameday? 4. Is there a shuttle from Lot 34 to the Football Field for those with mobility issues? 5. Finally are there any tailgate groups normally set up in the same place every week in Lot 34? Or is it a free for all (first come, first serve)? 6. Which corner of Lot 34 would you recommend we set up at to cause the least amount of problems with Akron fans?
  7. I was told by an Akron Rep that 3-5k tix have been sold to Cuse fans so far. I'm assuming that includes the Cuse set aside in Section 105. Not sure if all those have been sold yet.
  8. So what time does Lot 34 open up for tailgating? With the kickoff around 6pm...is 1pm too early to set up? I know some places let you set up early and they just send someone around to check for passes or take money. Will Lot 34 be a cash lot in 2010? I still haven't received my tix/parking passes so I don't know which lot we'll be in yet...but want to find out about the lots in general and 34 specifically as that is one of the ones I heard we could be at.
  9. http://www.nunesmagician.com/2010/8/10/161...rns-sorry-akron I know this blogger...don't take offense to his Akron slam of an easy victory...he has been playfully raggin on all summer about Akron as both schools have been recruiting alot of the same kids. BTW, most Cuse fans feel this will a tough game they still remember 2008.
  10. It is called being a good host. College athletics is more collegial. I invited Akron fans wandering by my lot in 2008 and 2009 to join us. It is how it should be done. Akron fans will be always welcomed at my tailgate as long as they're respectful. If you bought 65 tickets to the Syracuse game they would set something up for you too. When Penn State visited Cuse in 2008 they had a huge alumni tent 75 yards from the Dome for 500+ fans. We had people grumble too but it is what it is. Akron getting tickets sold en masse also pre-selling parking passes is smart business. Much more efficient to send out one envelope and talk to one guy versus 20+. Also, you'll take 35 cars off the streets around the stadium wandering around lost on game day and get them to a set aside lot. BTW, we still don't have a lot yet...they are looking at different options. Trust me Akron fans are getting priority for parking...they are taking care of the season pass holders first. This is why I'm still waiting to get a lot. To the guy posting we have Lot 30 something or whatever nothing has been finalized. BTW, Joe has done a great job and I appreciate his willingness to work with my group. If any of you set up a large group at a future game you'll see how professional he is to work with.
  11. He isn't getting off easy...he was throw out of school in the spring...took courses at his own cost, lived off campus on his dime, and he still has civil damages to take care of and a pending misdemeanor. If he was a normal college student with no previous issues (like Delone) the regular student wouldn't be throw out of school. Syracuse isn't a football factory like a SEC school. This should help ticket sales for you guys...I would think. Maybe you get a bump of 500. It should be a great game. Story from the best Blog Out There
  12. Story just breaking...checkout the Cuse board for more info.
  13. I would take Akron also. The Orangemen was one of the worse teams in the country in 2008! Fixed it for you...Cuse is on track to win 5-6 games this year.
  14. I was thinking 6-7 pts...I don't bet on Cuse games but if I did I'd take Akron and the points.
  15. I'd love it if Cuse could hook up with Akron for another series. Is Akron doing strictly 1 for 1's now with middle of the road BCS teams? Or have there been any 2 for 1s or 3 for 2s?
  16. Hey guys...bottomline: Syracuse has a competent head coach and a better staff than under GRob in 2008. Football staffs usually make good strides between year one and two. I expect Cuse's coaching to elevate along with overall team play. While Cuse won't know everything Akron will be doing Cuse will have basic scouting info from the 2008 and 09 games of player personnel. Also, they should know what UA's basic football tendacies/packages will be. The coaching fraternity is fairly small and these guys do know each others tendacies. Expect Cuse to bring the defensive pressure on a first year UA coaching staff/team immediately. How do they react? IMHO, our defense will win this game. It is expected to be one of the better Big East defenses. I expect a 10-14 point victory but could see an Akron win if we turnover the ball more than once or twice and you score points off a couple of the TOs. Our special teams will be much improved as overall roster depth is improving. More 1st and 2nd teamers on ST kickoff squads than last year when quite a few walkons and True FR played. Our offense is loaded with question marks but on the positive side: we are having JUCO's and underclassmen beating out several starting players. I expect rather conservative play calling on Offense to cut down on TOs. Also, I don't think that Copley's Delone Carter will play. Also, our 3rd string TB could be out for the year (academics)..However, our 2nd string back (Bailey) gained 77 yards on 16 carries versus Rutgers late in the season. We will need to establish the pass..if not Akron's chance for winning goes waaaaay up. If we had Delone Carter I would feel better with a weak passing attack as Bailey is not a power runner. Also, I have 70 tickets sold going to my group's tailgate. I expect 20-40 more to showup who bought their tickets through SU. Hopefully some of you can swing by and say hi pregame. (BTW, Browning is a excellent coach for your team wish we had him still...Jackson had his detractors while at SU)
  17. I'm at 54 tickets in my group already...I expect to get to 65 or so. Add in about 30 more coming with tickets from other sources and this will be the largest tailgate I've ever planned on the road. Looking forward to a great time. Hope to see a few of you guys...walk ins with 12 packs of beer are very welcomed. Edit: Bought 7 more...up to 61 in our Section. I've decided to close it down to new people as it is starting to get too big.
  18. I am sure Zips fans will be joining you in Lot 9 since many of its fans who regularly attend games and support the University can no longer park there. We will probably be stuck in either Lot 14 or 73 thanks to U Tube Tom. Sorry, I'm unaware of the parking politics...I actually asked him to try to get us in a lot on the west side of campus somewhat near the cash lots.
  19. Thanks...we might have a few coming in via AirTran BTW, can you see the close sideline from about 10 rows up or do the players on the sidelines obstruct the view?
  20. Joe at group Sales is doing a great job helping me out with getting my Syracuse Tailgate group set up. We should be tailgating in a credential lot...hope to see some of you guys. We are an opposing team fan friendly tailgate. I expect 50 or so folks from Syracuse at my tailgate.
  21. There's at least a 'snowball's' chance. Nice one... We are wondering about that too...Coach Marrone is a strict disciplinarian...we'll see. Delone brought this on himself though. BTW, looks like we'll be setting up a bus from Syracuse to tailgate. Hope to see some of you guys there to say hi.
  22. Assuming no TV for the Syracuse game: do you expect an early afternoon kickoff or an evening kickoff?
  23. Thanks all for the great comments...btw, I'm expecting up to 30 at my tailgate but most will be going out and eating in small groups as we are coming from all over.
  24. So the credentialed lots are for season pass holders? No worries we'll park in a blue lot. I expect to set up 4 hours prior. Any favorite lot in the blue areas? BTW, we will be bringing over Hoffman Coneys (Offically called Snappys)...they are real tasty and we share. Also, will bring some NY micro beer and would love to exchange for some of that good stuff that comes out of Cleveland I heard about.I read that Lot 34 is happening...is it still that way? Would we be welcomed there or is there a better lot for visitors?
