  1. Zeke wins MAC Defensive Player of the Year & Quincy wins 6th Man Award.... Zips Win Post Season Awards
  2. A tree fell in the Forest and nooobody heard it....except for the Can't State IDIOT that was walking through the forest trying to avoid another DUI....because Can't State still SUCKS... - LET'S GET A WIN TONIGHT!!
  3. Zeke's rebound is fine and is a by-product of his shot blocking. If Zeke stayed in the lane and did not block or alter shots, he would easily get 4 - 6 more rebounds per game. I'll take the trade off any day. As in past years, he's worked on something each year. We said 'Give us more offense' and he leads the team in scoring. Today we are all saying 'Rebound more'. I am will to bet he WILL be the rebounder we are looking for next year. The Coaches will MAKE SURE this happens. This will be the difference in making good money after college or GREAT money. Also, we know the MAC refs. Just like last game, he reaches for a rebound clearly 3 feet away from the player and gets called for a foul. The MAC refs have taken away some of his rebounding because he doesn't want to get in foul trouble. I think we have to make a choice... A great rebounder or a great shot blocker. Give me the shot blocker...TREE and WALSH (who is a good rebounder at guard) can pick up the slack on the bounds..
  4. Zeke should graduate in december. He came to Akron to get a degree and win championships. I guarantee you...he's staying to accomplish those goals. He realizes that one more year will improve his draft position by becoming a better rebounder, etc.
  5. Just checked, the game stream is listed on mac-sports.
  6. I agree. I'm sorry for everyone that AA won't be playing. I don't think we're half as good without him on the floor. All I can say is Don't count Alex out...he might surprise us and play.....
  7. I believe they will. Believe it or not these are still young men/kids and still learning. Hopefully they will LEARN EARLY from these mistakes and GROW from them. If this doesn't give the team a sense of urgency and the need to mature quickly, I don't know what will. The time to produce is Now AND Today...
  8. +1 - Fully agree. Zeke needs to remain in the paint and stop picking up cheap fouls 18 feet from the basket. We also need to find a way to get Zeke the ball. He's shooting over 70% from the floor but only takes 5 shots in 19 minutes. Having Alex back will help.
  9. If you would like to see VCU before their 'beat-down' by the Zips, their playing online @ ESPN against Seton Hall.
  10. Morgantown, WV is about an hour from Pittsburgh so me, GameChanger44, and the Walsh's will be front and center!! I spoke to Mr. McClanahan and he said that Nitro, WV will be in the house to support Brett. The Akron crowd should be loud and ready to go for this one..... Go ZIPS!!!
  11. MAC Sports will be streaming the game on Saturday @ Akron vs Duquense Live Stream 11/19
  12. Friday's game against Valparaiso will be streamed @ Akron vs Valpo Stream 11/18
  13. +1
  14. The latest NBA Draft Express mock draft for 2013 has Zeke going #25 to Oklahoma City Thunder Zeke @ #25 in the First Round
  15. The "Turk" is 6'9" and will have problems with Zeke's length and speed. Renaldo Sidney was a little bigger. Challenging yes but the big guy can handle it. Zeke has to attack him because he is prone to foul. Can't does not seem to have a guy that can hit the 3 plus they do not rebound well. WVU lacks offense. A lot of their baskets come on put backs and offensive rebounding. Both team are BEATABLE!!.
  16. We talked to Zeke last night and he was fine. Just cramped from sitting on the plane.
  17. Mama Zeke wants her baby to get his education... and so does he.
  18. Here's a great review of the Akron/Miss St Bigs: 1-on-1: Renardo Sidney vs. Zeke Marshall. We all know who won....YES!! 1-on-1: Sidney vs Marshall
  19. The Vulcans are a team to follow early on. not just because of Sweich, but because they play two of our opponents in the pre-season. It will be interesting to compare this game to how they do against VCU.Another fun fact. Cal U's leading scorer Quentin Harding hails from none other than McKeesport, Pa. and went to McKeesport just like Zips front-liner Zeke Marshall. It stands to reason that they must have been teammates in high school.A couple of Akron connections on this squad! As a matter of fact DB...Quentin Harding and Zeke did play on the same squad when Zeke was a Freshman. Quentin also played on Zekes AAU team in the 17 up squad while Zeke was playing on the 16 under team..."small world"Actually, Zeke and Q were teammates in high school zeke's junior year and lost to Moon and Brian Walsh in the playoffs. Walsh dropped 30.
  20. FYI...If you go, make sure that you cover the ears of your young children. KD was is rare form last weekend using his Motivational Language...
  21. Another MAC Pre-Season Review that speaks positive of this year's Zips -- naming them MAC Champions.MAC Preview
  22. One of the interesting questions posed to Coach Dambrot last night on the Live Broadcast was 'who is going to back up Alex Abreu at point?'. His response was either Deji, Walsh, or Q. He also stated that unlike past years, we will be big at the guard position. So after Alex, we could have a 6"3' (Deji), 6'5" (Walsh), or 6'6" point guard in addition to McClan will move back to the shooting guard @ 6'5".
  23. Rivals.com picks Akron to win the MAC East in MAC Conference PreviewMAC Basketball Preview
  24. Speaking of weightlifting, I talked to Zeke on Saturday and he (and the coaches) told me that Zeke benched 185 pounds (which is the NBA combine weight) 15 times. In comparison, the top NBA player did 19 last year.
  25. Just got word that the Saturday morning practice is in the JAR @ 10:00 am.
