  1. Here's a stat - Ohio has 5 players averaging 5+ points per game, Akron has 7 players averaging 5+ points per game. Depth = Production. If they are not producing when they are on the court, they are just bodies taking up minutes.
  2. Article on Pat Forsythe...
  3. Here's another stat. Zeke is ranked #15 in the country in value added to the team. He ranked higher than the kids from Kentucky (Noel) and Kansas (Whithey). - Value Added Basketball Also agree. We NEED CHAUNCEY on the FLOOR!!
  4. He's actually averaging 12 points a game (was 13.3 at one point in the season). To answer your question yes. He was never a great offense player in high school so for him to develop to the 12 ppg level is great. Looking at the system that KD runs, J Woods was the most prolific scorer at 14.1 points per game in the KD era. 12 points per game puts Zeke up there in the top 3 - 4. With the balanced scoring of the KD teams, 12 ppg is the most anyone has averaged in the past few years. If you told me that Zeke would lead the team in scoring his last 2 years. I would be excited. That he has done. The problem is that some people look at 'only' points per game etc as the standard. I look at how a player can effect the game. When Zeke does get the ball, he's shooting 67% from the floor. Name the last Zip who put up that kind of shooting percentage. He's in the top 5 shotblockers in the country which changes the game. If you told me that Zeke would be ranked in NATIONAL Top 10 categories in his career, I would be excited. That he has done. Name the last Zip or MAC player to have that standard. Consistently scoring and blocking shots - those are my expectations which he has accomplished. 6.6 rebounds a game is not bad for some who plays only 24 minutes a game. Yes that is an area for improvement but not below my expectations. If you told me he would be the most prolific shot blocker in MAC history. I would be excited. That he has done. If you told me he would be a 1000 point scorer. I would be excited. That he has done. If you told me that a team he played on would win the first Regular season championship for Akron. I would be excited. My expectations are not lowered, there realistic based on more that just points per game. They are realistic compared to what other Zip players have done. Don't get me wrong. He has areas for much improvement, but I am giving him credit for his hard work over his career. No matter what he does, someone is not going to be pleased.
  5. +10 - I strongly agree. But, if you look at Zeke's accomplishments over the past 4 years, he may not be the most significant in league history but how many other players in recent memories can claim the following: Akron single season block shot records (freshmen, sophmore, junior, and probably senior), most blocks in a MAC tournament game 9, Most block shots in the JAR 7, MAC Conference Block Shot record (5 away), MAC Single Season Block Shot record, lead team in scoring (junior and now senior), set Puerto Rico Touranament block record 13, he's had a 14 rebound game (Las Vegas tournanment), MAC Tournament MVP, 1st MAC Regular Season Championship ring, MAC Tournament Ring, Finished top 10 shot blockers in the country (junior season), top 5 now - season season, top 10 in field goal percentage (senior season), MAC Defensive Player of the Year, will surpass Nate Linhart/Dru Joyce in points scored during career, 1000 point scorer. Shooting 67% from the floor - top 10 in the country. For his career he should have 1150+ points 325 + blocks 650+ rebounds. (while avg. at the most 26 minutes per game - junior year) I probably missed a few. I cannot think of an Akron player in recent history that can match these accomplishments. Dominant, no, successful, yes.
  6. When our guards find their 3-point stroke and hit some outside shots and we get refs that will let him play, we'll see him return to form.
  7. Zeke is also a 1000 point scorer, lead the team in scoring last year, is leading the team in scoring this year, shoots over 66% from the floor. Very hard to do in the balanced scoring system KD has directed. I consider this a great offensive threat.
  8. I agree - bad timing. The Zips are deep and this hopefully will give Harney more time on the floor with the starters and get Kretzer and McAdams more minutes.
  9. And another MAC player of the week Award - avg. 19 points / 6 rebounds / 3 blocks / 2 assist - Zeke MAC East Player of the Week
  10. Zeke is now 12 blocks from the MAC conference record and 20 points away from joining the 1000 point club!
  11. If you remember the play, Coles was 5 steps ahead of Zeke on a break and he tried to run him down and was a step late. I don't really see that as 'getting dunked on'. How can an NBA guard allow a 7-footer to run him down in the open court? That's the memory....
  12. I can't speak for all the players, but Zeke averaged 5.1 points / 3.9 rebounds / 1.7 blocks a game as a Freshmen. He lead the team in scoring his Junior year and is also leading the team in scoring this year. He now averages 11.4 points / 6.9 rebounds / 4.3 blocks. I agree, it may not be the big numbers that we all would like to see but it does show improvement over the course of his career.
  13. I agree. The issue is not a lack of a go-to-scorer. It is the inability of this team to recognize who has the hot hand and get them the ball. On Sunday, Zeke was 5/6 at one point, 2 back-to-back baskets. Continue to feed him. On another might be Kretzer, Tree, Harney, Chauncey, or anyone. When need better recognition as a team to feed the player that on. We'll be ok the rest of the way.....
  14. According to @ZipsDallas (Dallas Moyer) on Twitter, the media has named Zeke Marshall to the All-Tournament team.
  15. I only saw audio on the Coastal Carolina site for the Akron game. Is there a Video feed for this game?
  16. ESPN Top 10 Scariest Defenders in the Country - Zeke Marshall #8
  17. The MAC Conference just posted the Men's & Women's Conference schedule for the 2012-2013 season. 2012-2013 Conference Schedule
  18. Associated Press confirmed that Murphy turned down the job with the Magic. Yahoo Sports - Murphy rejects offer
  19. I believe that Kyle Peterson was a walk-on. Hunter would replace him (along with CJ Oldham) as the team's walk-ons.
  20. +5 - I totally agreed. Zeke is on pace to score 1200 points (has now has 840 and if he duplicates this year - 1200 +), Block 300 + shots, grab 650 + rebounds, shoot over 50% for his career from the field, and moved from a 46% free throw shooter as a freshman to 70% as junior. There are very few zips that have accomplished these numbers. We need to appreciate who we have. I for one am glad that he chose Akron and love what he has accomplished both on and off the court.
  21. Yes...Keep feeding the Big Man and run when we can!!
  22. Zeke is fine. 15 points 7 rebounds with 12:00 to play. Zeke needs touches. When his teammates get him the ball, he can be dominant. He cannot dominate without the ball.
  23. How can you not have at least '1' player from the #1 Team in the MAC Conference on the All-MAC First Team. 2 guys from BUFFALO make it. Are you serious!! I can see Watt, but McCrea - NOT. Ok guys, let's get that MAC Championship (the big prize) and shut everybody up!! All MAC Teams
