Behind the scenes video from the NCAA Second Round Trip posted on gozips.com Video..

I saw it too. It was sweet how he used the Zips offense to make a few of his points. There was also a clip of Darryl Roberts scoring against Can't State.

I like both Nik and Dakota. We need a TRUE big man to backup Zeke. Someone that is bigger than 6'8" to complete at a higher level. Hopefully we can get a JUCO that is 6'10" or 6'11" as a legit backup at center if either one of them leaves or transfers.

From a trusted ZN member that has seen some practices this year: "Walsh is going to be a player" Brian Walsh was the 2007-08 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year. Played against Zeke in High School and on the PA Storm AAU team that practiced with Zeke. He's been playing point guard with the Zips scout team and will backup Alex at point guard. Walsh is another Quincy Diggs with a better shooting touch.

A quote from macsportsonline says it all - "And can we lay off Zeke Marshall? He's not the second coming of Tim Duncan, but his numbers are much improved over last year (he sports a 101.4 offensive rating this season as opposed to 86.4 last year) and all indications are that he is going to be very, very good his last two years." MAC Tourney If Today (Post-02/05/11 games)

Some of the ownership is on Zeke. But why do we have a 7-footer outside of the 3 point line playing defense on 6-foot guards? The majority of the ownership is on the coaching staff notice this and make the adjustment. How many games will it take? -
Confidence in Zeke is not the problem. He is 3rd in the conference in field goal percentage: 3.MARSHALL, Zeke-UA........ SO .542 (54%). He shot 5-5, 3-4, 2-4, 3-6, 4-5 in the past 7 games. I'd take those stats any day. He shot 5-13 and 2-6 in those other 2 games during that stretch. Zeke has 13 turnovers in the past 7 games; less than 2 per game. Nik has 11. The numbers speak for themselves. This issue is that he teammates look at him for 5 dribbles then decides to give him the ball. By that point the defense has made the adjustment. Better guard play on entry passes, etc. is the answer....

Well I hope EVERYONE was at the Can't game

Nope...Zeke is wide open on the pick and rolls and on the blocks with good position. We're too busy shooting 29% and 33% from 3-point land to pass the ball inside to him. Zeke is not the problem. He scores when he gets it. How many times have we lobbed him the ball since Can't? 1 maybe 2 times. Here's the question: How come every 'other' team in the MAC go feed the ball inside except Akron? It was not until the team made an effort to get him involved in the BG game that things started to happen. How come we don't have set plays for our bigs? Can't, Buffalo, and Ohio do. This is the same player BEFORE the Can't game and AFTER the Can't game. As a team, we have to get him involved. We throw it in to him, him throws it back to the 3-point shooter. How many times do we then come back to him? Not many, we're too busy going 7-21 or worse from 3 point land. This not only applies to Zeke but also Mcknight. During the Can't game we fed him on the block. What happened to that? Both Mcknight (who had 19 at Can't) and Zeke are capable of more. Mcknight has not has a game over 12 points since then. We just played as a team against Can't and relied on our inside game. As far as the rebounding, he's had a 14-point rebounding game before Can't. My point is that Can't is not his defining game and we have to get him involved. Do I want to see that player at Can't, yes. But I also want to see the player I saw @ Stetson (14-points, 14-rebounds). But getting a player involved in the offense will produce other by-products such as rebounding. I fully agree that he needs to rebound better to get more shots. I'm just fed up with this team ignoring a 7-footer on the floor that is wide open. We can lob the ball to Nik with 2 people on him but not to Zeke with one. In the end good dialog....Thanks..Dave... -

Dave, i have to disagree. Zeke got 14 shots in the Can't State game and only averaged 4-5 shot per game since. It's not Zeke, its the fact that the team plays around him. When they DO go to him, e.g. BG game, he scores. Zeke was 4-5 against Buffalo and 2-4 against BG. You can't score when you don't get the ball. He has been on the floor 20+ minutes in every game since so foul trouble is not an excuse for his lack of shot. He played 31 against BG and only had 4 shots. Zeke is open. Our guards don't penetrate and dish. Nik goes 6-15 against Buffalo. A 7-footer should be getting AT LEAST 8 - 12 shots a game. Especially one that shots over 50% from the floor. -
This is what I don't get: Zeke goes 4-5 from the floor. We shoot 29% from 3-point land. Nick shoots 6-15. How come Zeke does not get more shots? If we aren't hitting 3's and missing easy layups, feed the guy who is shooting over 50% from the floor.

Does anyone have a video link for tonight's Miami game?
-
I agree. I know that Zeke has been in foul trouble the last 2 games, but he needs more shots. 10 shots in the last 2 game (3/5 OU and 2/5 Buffalo) vs 14 shots (8/14) against Can't. We need to establish a better inside game. Mcknight can help in this area. Maybe Egner can too...
-
I agree. Zeke shot 3-5 from the floor. I like Alex but how effective can Zeke be with a point guard that has 7 turnovers, refs that are the 6th and 7th players on the floor for Ohio, a team that could not hit the 'broad side of a barn' with a truck, and no defense from the guards. If there is any focus, it should be the lack of defense from the guards, horrid shooting, and the fact that our Big Man only took 5 shots last night vs 14 in the Can't State game. When he's in the game, if we can't hit a three, push the ball down to Zeke.
