I agree well done.
The article points out the two issues that left a lasting impression on me.
The Zips need to work hard to fix the punting game, and the running game. One should be easy, the other is not so easy.
Go Zips!
Keep in mind, the third question is combined rushing and receiving total. Kato rushes for 82 yards. Brandon Lee rushes for 40, and has another 50 receiving, Brandon wins with 90 yards total.
My apologies if anyone was confused. I should have made it clearer.
I'll guess, GT asked coach Arth about the players not making the trip after the the presser. Coach Arth responded by saying he thinks they will play, but it's out of his hands. PS I have no inside info, I'm just guessing by reading the above.
Trevor was asked about, nobody questioned Alvin or Jest.
Suspensions and injuries sometimes show up on Don Best, but Akron isn't even listed. College football coaches are not required to list injuries.
Sep 2nd Teleconference with coach Arth
I would assume today's presser eventually shows up here. Hopefully we get the answer to the availability of the players that "didn't make the trip."
Blazers favored by 9.5
"The UAB Blazers will look to build on a season-opening 24-19 win over Alabama State in their season opener last time out. Tyler Johnston III threw for 114 yards on 8 of 19 passing with a touchdown while also rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown. Spencer Brown led UAB’s ground attack with 23 carries for 77 yards while Jonathan Haden had 41 rushing yards. Austin Watkins led the Blazers’ receiving corps with a pair of catches for 51 yards while Myron Mitchell added a 98-yard kick return for a touchdown. Defensively, the Blazers combined for 3 sacks and Will Boler added an interception while Garrett Marino led UAB with 9 tackles in the winning effort."
Akron gets 1,100,000. Forecast calls for mostly cloudy, mid 70's, 8 mph winds out of the east, with a prime chance for an upset. ?
My Fearless Forecast™ ... Akron runs the Philly Special.
I like these two things mentioned in the Hustlebelt article.
• The GPA for the first full semester under coach Arth improved dramatically when compared with the Fall 2018: ‘as a team, the spring roster combined for a 2.954 gpa, up from 2.466 from Fall 2018.’
• Akron’s offensive line is poised for significant improvement after the trial-by-fire that was the 2018 season. Redshirt freshman Hunter Corne and Shawn Muldowney played in 24 games last year while first-year Zip Bryce Petersen started 12 games. Given that the biggest jump in performance occurs in the second-year, I would expect to see significant progress.
Hooks and Alvin starting at CB should surprise some. Jacobs and Featherstone playing behind them makes a lot of sense to me. Makes the secondary a little more experienced.
UGIII got in the game in the first quarter against KC, and got to play with a few starters. Didn't miss a beat. He had four solo tackles and was very active around the ball. Split out wide once in coverage. I only got to see the first half, they switched the game to the Dallas game at half. I'll have to catch a replay this week.
