  1. I didn't thin Jacq was our problem in that game.I was more confident with him behind center than CJ.Jacq looked more poised to me.I love coach Moorehead, but I did not like the way he called that game.I saw no adjustment at half either. I was most dissapointed in the play calling.I was most impressed with the punting. Way to fix that blocked punt fiasco against Army.

  2. Zips 21      osu 20
As nobody got the score right, congrats to "love" for getting the OSU score right.Zipmeister was closest to the Akron score by guessing "4", but missed on the OSU score.I love looking back at others predictions. I wonder what Steve French would have predicted, or even JD.On to Indiana.
  3. Ouch!Even the most diehard fan knows the Browns' likeliest path to the Super Bowl this year goes through Ticketmaster. So, how do you turn another sub-.500 season into a good time?Easy. Take a cue from every college student who ever lived: Make watching the Browns a drinking game. And for each player -- and maybe each play -- there's a special shot. Here are a few suggestions. Feel free to add, change, subtract or make up your own. (But if they're good, share with the rest of us, OK?)Charlie FryeNot that all shots should relate to the guy's college, but it seems for the University of Akron's former QB, this one will work (even if its ingredients are a little girly). Gulp it whenever TV cuts to Brady on the sidelines after a Frye INT.
  4. OSU-35Akron-13of course we're gonna miss a PAT
4 out of 5 times that will be the score when we play them on their turf. But that 5th time, oh that's the time that every ball bounces our way.OSU plays sloppy, with many false starts forcing them in long 3rd down situations. We create turnovers and score on special teams. OSU tries a very basic offense, and we expect it.That's the game I will predict.Zips 23 (missed extra point)OSU 21Final play, OSU lines up for a 35 yard winning FG...all the Zip fans are thinking finally we have a chance of knocking off a big boy and we blow an extra point attempt...the ball flies over the top of the FG post.It is ruled no good. 100,000 fans think it is good and tell all the Zip fans they got robbed. Zips win, but itis soured by all the instant replays we must watch on ESPN. Zipsnation is filled with so many angry Columbusfans that it crashes Monday at 10:15 am.
  5. Good question. I would pick beating OSU. Hands down.I doubt many people outside of the core Zip fan remember winning the MAC around the area.I bet a LOT of people in this area, and nationally will remember the Zips if we beat OSU.Great recruiting tool also.

  6. You answered your question right there why they don't print more articles. People aren't clamoring for it and they don't show the interest. 60 responses for the Browns and 80 for the Buckeyes, yet 1 for Akron. These threads pop up time and time again and it is always the same thing over and over again.I hate sounding negative all the time, but what don't you guys get about it? You can't have zero demand for a product and expect the abj to spend the resources on covering it. It is just simple business 101.
Oh now I get it, thanks
  7. Does anyone remember this off-color "chant" from the old days?  It was taught to me by my RA in old Torrey Hall in 1979.  I've cleaned it up a little for the board's sake.Drink beer!  Drink beer!  Drink beer G.D., drink beer!I won’t drink beer with any man, who won’t drink beer with an AKRON man.AKRON once.  AKRON twice.  Holy jumpin’ J.C.G.D., S.O.B, Gooooooooooo ZIPS!!!!
That's GREAT.I have a friend that told me this, but he could only remember half of it.Thanks for the rest. :thumb:
  8. I would just like to learn something about the team that I root for if I read an article on my team.I have never learned anything reading a DLM article on the Zips.Other side of the coin. Razor. I learn many things about the Zips that I didn't know when I read his stuff. Because he is a fan and finds out information that Zips fans want to know. When you are not a fan of the team and don't really care, you write a bunch of dribble and pretend like you did your job. Or maybe he is just really bad at his job. People on this board find out much more info than DLM and don't have access to the team the way he does.

  9. The first ever "Patriot Bowl" will take place as Akron hosts Army at Cleveland Browns Stadium (capacity: 73,079) on Saturday. Unfortunately, reports are that ticket sales are seriously lagging for this one and the Patriot Bowl may wind up being one of the more poorly attended games this weekend in the MAC. :wall:

  10. where's alex allen?
from Razor's blog: Running back — Dennis Kennedy, then Bryan Williams. No love for Alex Allen or Andre Walker? Walker previously was the second-stringer. I figured Allen would be No. 2 after camp. He was very impressive. I have to think that Alex is going to get some carries this year.
