the INVISIBLE DJ Cooper.
If you mean that in a figurative sense, then yes, we can only hope that DJ is invisible tonight.
-
100% Agreed. The Rowdies need to spread the word to rest of the zips fans in attendance. Our problem is that our students are loud, but the alumni aren't.
-
Not that your typical post deserves much of a reply, but does this phrasing strike anyone else as being particularly odd coming from a supposed fan of the Zips?
Nice catch.
He's joked that he's an OU fan before.

Are they still doing the "Buy one Get one" with the Lotto scratch off ticket. I can't really find any info about it
As far as I know that promo is for the championship game only. I'm not sure about the semi's.
I've used it the past 3 championships. It's a great deal, but every time we played OhioU I got stuck next to a hoard of their 30 year old alums who never outgrew the frat boy lifestyle. You get what you pay for, I guess.
For the record, we have never had any problems with the Ken+ fans.

P.S the student section sold out in 2 minutes.
Let's do this.
Seacrest out

What else is going on?
Unofficial blackout according to twitter posts. But given the demographics of twitter users I doubt many season ticket holders got the memo.

Uh, I would say this story is pretty big news. We have to expect it's going to be covered, and, perhaps, not to our liking.
Of course. I'm merely pointing out that our historic season is big news as well. I understand that negative stories probably sell more--I'm just voicing my opinion on the matter.
No point in obsessing about the coverage as it portratys AA. We should care more about how, guilty or not, the situation AA put himself in has affected his team and the university.I pointed out that the article seemed unprofessional. I would not consider that "obsessing".
The best way for this to go our way is if the team can rise above it and win the MAC Championship. Let's focus on supporting them as they try to achieve that goal.Agreed. Go zips!

Marla Ridenhour for the Akron Beacon Journal.
"Alex Abreu apparently chose selfish path"
I really don't care for that article.
"This wasn’t just the bad choice of putting a match to a blunt, as some Zips probably have done before."
Does that sound appropriate for a print newspaper?
Not to mention, isn't this article a tad premature? The tone of her article seems appropriate for message board banter, but not for a heavily circulated(yet dying) rag like the ABJ. She seems to be assuming a lot.
Whatever. Funny how the Northeast Ohio media stuffs us in the 11 PM time slot during a 19 game winning streak, yet somehow everyone from here to Erie(and beyond) knows about the Abreu incident. Dirt sells, I suppose.

@Captain Kangaroo, absolutely great positive post with a good example of how great teams adapt to bad situations. I'd just add that if we expect an insanely motivated Zips team to show up tonight, we really need to be an insanely motivated Zips fan base. I think some may be expecting the crowd to be subdued tonight due to the circumstances. I'm expecting the exact opposite. I'm planning to leave my voice at the JAR tonight and take several days to recover. Go Zips!
Same here Dave. The people sitting near me in GA have been getting tired of my sh!t all season. Just wait until tonight!!!

Chauncey stepping in to fill the void for Alex's perimeter scoring
Bentancourt will probably be an upgrade defensively. The big question mark is offensive production.
Chauncey will need to play well for us to have a chance. He's more than capable of making up for Abreu's absence on offense.

Possible. That is the thread of hope that I am holding on to. We should find out more today after he appears in court. Does anyone know what time that is happening?
9 AM. In 15 minutes.

Right there with you, ZW.

BTW...."Alex Abreu" is trending on twitter in the Cleveland area.
-
His roommate couldn't have just ordered it a month later? Ugh.
According to court records, Abreu lives downtown. I don't think that guy was his roommate.

In ten years I'll bump this thread and we'll all laugh that we once lost our starting PG for the season because he signed for a package that contained something that everyone can now buy at Wal-Mart (can you buy that crap at Wal-Mart in Colorado already?)... then hopefully we'll all cry because a couple of our own fans actually wished ill on him.
Thanks for managing to bring out the eternal optimist in me at a time when I thought there was no hope.
But seriously, WTF???

Let's not get into a philosophical debate about marijuana.
-
@PhilTrexler: Police: K9 detected large package of pot being shipped to UA guard Alex Abreu and undercover cops delivered. Abreu accepted, then arrested
Really? I have a hard time believing Alex could be that stupid. Either way, what a shame.

"I can't believe it," one MAC head coach said. "The MAC is back open again without him."
^This is why I love journalism.

I don't even know how to react.

11:29 remaining in 1st half
Akron 21
Buffalo 6
I wish the men could play like that in the first half.

Accessibility for a season ticket base that's 80% octogenarians.
I've learned to be patient with the lower reserve seating. Before every game I catch myself complaining about the number of no-shows down there, just to be pleasantly surprised as 50 or so elderly women fill up the lower bowl 5 minutes before tip.

5,189 in attendance on this wonderful Tuesday evening.
For comparison, here's the attendance around the MAC:
BG @ Can't: 2,853
OU @ Buffalo: 3,132
EMU @ CMU: 879
NIU @ Toledo: 3,603
Ball State @ WMU: 2,539

It wouldn't be that hard to organize. Just send a handful of rowdies to the Akron sections in the lower bowl to spread the word before the opening tip. I guarantee it would catch on.
