“Ohio is really good; Akron is deeper than they are,” Kowalczyk said. “They’re the deepest team in the league.”

Ready to lose to the Bobcats aka the 2012-2013
What are you, twelve years old?
-
I realize that a lot of people like the gold, but it can look a bit tacky if it's not done right.
(The all gold jerseys are terrible, IMO. Perhaps its a generational thing.)
-
i know i'm new to basketball, but how does one get more than one loss in the MAC tournament?
Ohio U math.
-
Excuse me. I am puzzled by your remark. What is wrong with a high school basketball tournament where the proceeds go to
fight a nasty disease. Could you please explain?
LOL....
-
I ain't come here to post on zipsnation.
-
She's HOT!!!
Hm...
I don't think that's the response he was looking for...
-
Oh, come on. Some of you sound like a bunch of Pittsburg Pirates fans. Keep that negative mindset away from the zips.
-
Refreshing to see in today's world. I, for one, hope KD spends the rest of his career in Akron.

Only Akron can stop Akron from getting into the big dance next season. I'm not sure what you guys are so worried about.
-
"And threw him 5 bucks to get busy with on the dollar menu..that's a full course wave"
^Yep, that's an Ohio grad alright.
-
See ya Groce!
Wouldn't mind seeing you take some of your players with you to whichever school you go to.
Nope. According to an Ohio poster on the MAC boards, Groce's salary will be tripled and he will be staying in Ohio indefinitely.
-
You know, when you get right down to it, all of the MAC schools and their fans are basically pretty similar, a little insecure, passionate about their teams, and play with a bit of a chip on their shoulders.
In my experience, OU fans take the cake. Every MAC school is looking up to someone else, but I get the feeling the bongcats take it more personally, probably due to the whole OSU/OU thing.
Then again, maybe I'm always sitting next to the wrong OU fans every time we play them(anything is possible...).
-
Skip-zip, you are the anti-Gozips.
Dave, thanks for the correction. He was probably dead on with that prediction.
-
Remember the sweet 16 prediction?
GoZips wasn't far off. If the ball bounced a different way, we would be in OU's position and threatening for a sweet 16 run.
I can't wait for next year.
Zips....please win some OOC games so that we don't have to pin our tournament hopes on a single game.
-
Tonight we had possession, down 3, with 16 seconds remaining and time outs in our pocket. Diggs inexplicably holds the ball and NW fouls him with 3.7 seconds remaining, eliminating our chance for a 3-pointer. How does that happen twice in a row??!! Why didn't a TO come from the bench?
I was thinking the same exact thing. Perhaps there's something I'm missing, but a time out seems like an obvious choice in that situation.
-
I have season tickets for Akron...and Ohio, though I see more Akron games for obvious reasons.
I'll take that as a "yes, I do love the zips."
-
I am a full-time professor at Akron. Been on faculty for 16 years. Does that qualify me?
Qualify you for what? Season tickets run at about $800.
Just giving you a hard time. But seriously, with as much time as you spend on here...you love the zips and you know it.
-
Um, OK, but it was the last time Ohio was in the Dance, and it was front page news nationally. And they didn't merely squeak by Georgetown, they thrashed them buzzer to buzzer.
Are you thinking about purchasing Akron basketball season tickets or something? You sure spend a lot of time on zipsnation for an Ohio U fan.
-
Its a symbiotic relationship. If either failed they would both fail, if either succeed they both succeed.
When it comes to an arena-- no. Do you think the city could afford to go all in on a downtown arena without the university?
There's a reason the University is deliberating on which route to take, while city hall is clamoring for a partnership. They need us, and we're merely deliberating as to which route would be the best.
-
The city needs UA more than UA needs the city.
-
Does anyone have info about tickets?
-
To add some perspective, the Ohio U fan sitting behind me mentioned "the entire city of Akron is here tonight". For those of us sitting above, it was pretty obvious that Akron fans outnumbered Ohio fans.
And of course the Ohio fans were louder. They had a bit more to cheer for...
-
but man are those OU fans whiners. Literally every call made against there team and you hear this tremendous whooping crowd-wide groan.
LOL...good god they were terrible. After this season I've decided to just spend the money to sit with other Akron fans. The same thing happened two years ago when we played Ohio in the championship. There's always inevitably some drunken Ohio fan making a dork of himself. The funniest part is that they're acting like a superfan, but sitting in the $1 scratch off seats.
I'm 21. I'm not sure what their excuse is.
Whenever I get frustrated that some of our fans say stupid things, I think about my experiences with Ohio fans. I've honestly had an easier time sitting next to Can't fans. Ohio fans seem to have filled the void that Marshall left behind.

Two things:
1. Not that any of you care, but our resident troll "jc" can be found here.
2. Ohio U is a public school in Appalachia. Please don't come here and pretend like there is some giant "prestige" gap between the two schools. Besides, it makes your school look bad when a journalism student is spending all of their free time posting rambling sentences with subpar English on an opposing schools forum.
