So we just won the MAC Championship and I have to come on here and read this guys pointless rambling?
Go zips!
-
Any body havbe any news on how the crowd size might be for the game?
Dambrot said on Zips live that they expect a sell out or near sell out.
-
Being Gonzaga of the East isn't a likely reality unless we drop D1 football. I'd be for it, but given the recent investments in the Big Dialer, etc I highly doubt that happens by choice.
-
Buffalo wants this, especially McCrae. They won't keep shooting this well, but the battle in the paint might decide this one.
Buffalo is liable to turn it over more in the second half. If we capitalize on that and take care of the ball I like our chances. The bulls need hot shooting and McCrae for another 20 minutes. Fatigue may very well prevent both.

Speaking of WCC teams, Gonzaga's McCarthy center seats 6,000 and I think it's a good model for Akron:
It opened in 2004 with a cost of ~$30 mill(2013 dollars).
-
Combine Boise's design with a capacity closer to VCU's Siegel center and I'm happy. I agree that the angled seating looks better, but we will never be able to consistently fill a 10,000+ seat arena.
-
I still think 10,000+ is way too big. I don't want some cavernous monstrosity that we fill once in a blue moon(a la OhioU).
VCU's arena sits 7,600. It looked great on TV today.
-
They were talking about Akron for a few minutes during the VCU/Butler game on ESPN2.
The Shaka/Dambrot connection was mentioned. As well as Akron's win streak and how Akron deserves more national recognition.
-
and they would probably have more fans there than us...
You mean potential converts?
B)

The (admittedly premature) post of the year award goes to GoZips for use of the word "donnybrook".
-
Could have mentioned that they have now moved the Zips up to position #1
And ruin the surprise?

I wasn't sure where to post this, but less than 200 student tickets remain for the Can't State game. A JAR attendance record would not surprise me.
But first things first....beat UB(and Miami)!
-
I say "who cares?".......we have him and he looks to be having no second thoughts. That's the nature of recruiting.
+1
Their loss, our gain.
Kretzer is going to win a lot of games for us over the next few years.
-
"Kind of got the sense" is hardly a declaration.
Correct. I used the word "suggested".
It's silly to even suggest such a thing after listening to a short question and answer. It seemed like a stretch.
-
I did say they we'd lose, but admitted I was wrong after the game.
How many times have you had to say that this season?
-
Don't look now, but someone on the OU forums has already suggested that Kretzer would have "preferred" OU had they offered.
Good grief. I guess jealousy really is the sincerest form of flattery.
-
...at least this is what OhioU fans are saying now.
You mean that's what you are saying right now...

Have to give you guys a ton of credit. Looked like Ohio was going to run away with this one easily. You guys came back in the 2nd half on fire. Knew you guys were loaded, but I am really impressed with your freshman, minus Forsythe. For those who made the drive down, more credit to you. Hopefully, you were treated well and enjoyed the atmosphere as much as I did. Last night was BIG-time college basketball at its finest. Congrats on the win(s) and I hope it continues until we meet again in March!
See you in Cleveland!
If this is for real..then that is so cool.
-
FAR short of a sellout. By several thousand.
Give credit where credit is due. That was a great atmosphere. A lot of people wanted to see the top 25 Akron Zips!
And by the way, I stand by my previous statement that OU's arena is WAY too big for basketball. They can't even fill it in the most important game of the regular season vs a top 25 team during a season where they are returning from a sweet 16 run. That's the best shot they're going to have.
-
Bus to Coshocton, and then I think we took 4-wheelers and horses from there.
I literally laughed out loud at this.
-
I agree with his post except the looking forward to game 3. I can't take another one.
Frankly, I'm not too worried. We handled them at home and beat them in OT in front of 12,000 people who absolutely hate our guts.
I really, really, like our chances in a neutral court.
-
Fantastic game. Your team is so good. Congrats and enjoy.
JSF, you are an absolute class act. I don't sense any of the snark or insecurity that seems common amongst many OU fans. Great game, and I look forward to another match up in March.
