  1. We were criticized in another thread for even bringing up the idea. It's too much of an OSU rip off.Rip off of OSU? Who do you think actually started it?........................Thats right, MICHIGAN at an OSU MI game. the band did it in the 90's so who cares? If we don't want it to be a rip off then we won't worry about dotting the "i" That is the real tradition for OSU. Tell me this isn't cool.
  2. They are playing with a few of them who are already enrolled and on campus like David Meves.
  3. Some good thoughts. I agree about the high step, your chairstep (thats what we called it at least in HS) fails to look good because lots of people get off and some people are only halfassing their step making it look sloppy (that happens with almost every band that does it). As much as I like the highstepping and dislike the glide step I say you should switch. The highstepping evidently can't be improved with only 3 days a week of practice. I also think you should double time in from multiple locations. This usually jacks up the crowd. Why don't you guys do the classical script Zips anymore? (we don't have to make a big deal about dotting the "I" like some schools). And I definitely think the drumline needs to learn a lot more cadences to mix it up. I hear the same one over and over in the stands.
  4. So far this spring we are (3-0-1)We have outscored our opponents 10-1.Our opponents have all been tough- Oakland, Michigan, Wake Forest (At WF where they have a 34 game win streak), North Carolina (NC)
  5. He is a teammate of Payne! They are only the same AAU!
  6. I think we might know more in 12 days.
  7. Soccer beat Wake Forest AT Wake Forest 3-0!!! No one has one there in over 3 years!
  8. I think some kid, or kids would have gotten killed if we played that game. It is one thing to schedule a 1-AA game. But these guys don't even meet the minimum requirements of 1-AA. They're essentially Division II. I do know Lee Owens would have pulled an on-side kick on these guys if he were coaching against them, but only if we were up by more than 30. And if we were up 58-0, he would re-insert his starting RB to punch in that final TD and make 100% certain he hit 65.I think thats what Michigan thought when they schelduled Appalachian State.
  9. I agree, but in football only (at the moment). Give KD a few more years and a few more Zeke-level recruits and a new arena and we'll be there.Don't forget soccer! And once we got there we would be able to get better recruits due to the conference.
  10. Did you read the message I posted from X's board? They think they are out of scholarships so that list should be down to 4. And I definately agree that Dayton is the heavy favorite, but he has not been on campus yet.
  11. So what does everybody know about him? I know we are competing with Dayton for this Payne too. How close are we to landing him?
  12. A couple of tidbits.I also think OSU is out because they already have signed 2 5 star forwards. Thats not too many minutes. Also Xavier already has JD Weatherspoon committed who was on Payne's AAU team and they are really close. He was also quoted as saying his dream is for his Grandma to see him graduate college and go to the NBA so whoever gets him will have him for a while. Also this was posted on Xaviers boards:"We have one more scholarship between the 2009 and 2010 class. CJ and BJ will graduate this year so that leave two scholarships, one for Parrom and the other one open (Kyryl). The following year Xavier will say goodbye to Jason Love and Derrick Brown. We currenlty have Columbus Northland product SF JD Weatherspoon, and Baltimore City College PF Jordan Latham taking those two spots.Unless Jordan Crawford goes pro after one year, Andrew Taylor gives up his scholarship again, or we have a transfer we are out of scholarships until 2011."So that might rule them out.Only time will tell...
  13. I also see Allen Payne on there who Akron is going at really hard (according to him) his top 2 schools right now are Michigan and Dayton.
  14. April 18th is the official visit via Rasor's blog. So he will be here 2 weekends in a row! Even better!
  15. hahaha we didn't have any bigs.if you think the 35th best player in the country isn't going to start in the MAC, you're out of your mind, im sorry.Well i agree, i dont believe he will start either. I think it would be foolish to start the season throwing him in like that. Dambrot is smart about things he will ease him in and get him prepared to be the dominant player he could be.I think there is a chance he'll start out of the gate. Didn't Humpty start this year?No Humpty out of the gate was a backup for Ronnie and only took over after he was injured.
  16. The security guard flat out said and I quote, "If it had been 2 years ago you could have!"
  17. That is Pacific time according to the Zags board.
  18. Hmmm.....It's only about a 36-37 hour road trip...
  19. I loved a few possessions before Nikola fouled out the Zips were on defense and a foul was called. While waiting for the shot, the Buffalo players circled up and Nik joined. They didn't notice for at least 15 seconds then one saw him and said something to him and he just shrugged his shoulders as if to say, "What did I do?" then he tried to rejoin again. Priceless.Another was that even though the security guards held the Rowdies back, they felt bad about it. One even went over and got a small piece of the net that was left behind and brought it over to Root4Roo. Very nice on his part.Once back at the JAR we waited a few hours for the team to come back. We made a line for the players for when they got off the bus. Nasty Nate was first off with the net around his neck and trophy in hand and went down and we all touched the trophy. Then every player came down through. KD gets off the bus and starts to go outside of the line and the players grab him and make him go through the fans. Then we all went into the JAR and KD turned on the lights in the arena and we all just kind of congregated around players, fans, family, and coaches.
  20. That explains the dance team uniforms then. Very subtle and clever. It was also our 23rd win of the year.
  21. Wow someone doesn't like Akron fans. I hope we get to sit right behind you again next game. "there’s an Akron fan behind us (maybe a player’s dad?) who’s yelled the phrase “Integrity of the game” about 35 times so far. The Zips faithful seem to have a major problem with the refs. Let me point out that there have been 2 fouls called on each team so far (apparently their major beef is about missed traveling calls… yeah, that’s what has Akron shooting 0-9 from the field to start off.)"That didn't have anything to do with the score. Once MAC refs get going the integrity of the game goes down like it did against Toledo. Its not about us being 0-9 in a slow start but about bad calls (or lack of calls).
  22. Humpty said he obviously won't be 100% but he is planning on playing. We will probably see a little more of McNeese tomorrow night.
  23. So today about 14-15 Rowdies went, at the request of Caleb to the field house to root against our new goalies. Positioned right behind the goal we waited for them to start. First up was David Meves. He didn't give up a goal but the orange team wasn't clicking and wern't shooting that well, but he is gonna be a stud. He just kept smiling when we yelled at him. 2nd up was Josh Pantazelos. This half the orange team was clicking and he gave up 6 goals. In his defense the 1st goal was absurd and there was no way he coulda got that. I think we got into his head a little bit and messed him up. He has a solid leg and hit the roof one time. At the end Caleb told his new players to go introduce themselves, which was very nice. Caleb is a very classy guy and came over and shook everyone's hands twice. This just pumped me up for next year even more.
  24. Well went to the game last night and it was awesome. The Rowdies thoroughly pissed EVERYONE off by being there and being loud to the point that when we went back to our bus, Buffalo students had already pissed on it. Yes you read that correctly. We also had a nice campus patrol member show us his badge and flick us off at the same time. A couple of Buffalo thugs felt the need to sit next to our section and say how they were gonna "F us up". Then got pissed when we started chanting "let us wear our flat brimmed hat!" and "let us stand 5 ft tall!" It made it even better then there 2 police officers (mounties) had to come down and stand btw us (the Rowdies did nothing antagonistic because we have class.) Then a few of their football players felt the need to stand next to us and talk about their MAC championship but they thought our cheers and comments back were funny and they turned out to be pretty fun. 3/4 of their band decided to flick us off at once. They have great fans there let me tell you.Anyways....to the game. Traveling calls were ridiculous. Bardo was dribbling and his feet were planted, they called him. Buffalo traveled and carried no call. But thats life in the MAC I guess. It was a really great atmosphere with the 2 student sections but the rest of the stadium cleared out with 13.7 seconds left-no faith in their team. 3 in a row in Buffalo
  25. I'm going to the game on the Rowdie bus with about 50 other students. I found Buffalo's event on Facebook and joined and started making comments then other Rowdies saw it and started making posts.
