  1. Since the Ashland game, Wayne State has won four in a row and is now 8-2 and ranked 25th in the nation in this week’s AFCA Division II poll. This is the first national ranking ever for Wayne State by the AFCA, and the first in any national poll for the program since 1976.Wayne State (7-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) closes the regular season at home on Saturday against No. 1-ranked Grand Valley State (9-0, 9-0), which has clinched the GLIAC title.Ashland stands at 7-3, 7-2 going into its finale against Findlay (2-8, 1-8) on Saturday.
  2. I know TV money rules, but it's a shame that the final UA game at the Rubber Bowl was not scheduled so that the MOST people -- including those who now live out of town, older folks who don't venture out so much at night, could attend, which would be on a Saturday afternoon.
  3. Maybe they'll fly over the stadium and take some new aerial photos!
  4. From the Akron News Now website:InfoCision Stadium Halfway CompleteAbout 100 people gathered at Union and Vine streets, on the University of Akron campus, to watch the hoisting of the highest steel beam on the new football stadium.Weighing just under one ton, the last white steel beam was lifted atop InfoCision Stadium and Summa Field. On one side of the beam, an American Flag blows in the wind; on the other side, a small tree sits, symbolizing growth.Tuesday's topping off ceremony represents the halfway point of the first ever on-campus stadium at The U of A, says Ted Curtis, Vice President of Capital Planning for the University.U of A President Dr. Luis Proenza says, "this complex around us, which is tremendous, is attracting student athletes and students of all walks of life."Work began on the stadium seven months ago and in 332 days, it will be time for opening kickoff. Curtis also noted the stadium is "on time and on budget."
  5. Re: Does anyone know how much of the construction they will even be able to get done before winter hits? The Beacon Journal carried a stadium update article last Saturday.http://www.ohio.com/news/30480444.htmlThey are trying to get as much of the exterior done before the snow flies. Also, I think once the temperature starts to go below freezing, it's not advisable to pour concrete outside. So, it's good they are getting going on pouring the concrete on the east stands this week. The lower west stands appear to be all poured. It would be great if UA updated the stadium web page once a week with a short report on what work was done the previous week and what is on tap for the next week. The stadium cams are great, but those of us obsessed with the project want more info!
