  1. ABJ: Skyway restaurant plan in holding patternSeveral months after a sign went up announcing a new Skyway Drive-In restaurant was planned for East Exchange and Spicer streets, in the shadow of a new University of Akron football stadium, no work has been done on the site. And it's not clear whether the plan will ever move forward. The sign announcing the restaurant is still there. But city of Akron Planning Director John Moore said no drawings or plans for the project have been filed with the city.Steve Large, owner of Skyway, said he does not know what is going on with the site.Read the article.
  2. Ahh, good eye Blue & Gold. We rarely or ever see a photo from that angle. And there's no sagebrush in that brown corner either!Apologies!
  3. If the photo is from today, then they ripped out all the sod in the south end zone during practice, and then put it all back in.Which begs the question, if the photo isn't from today and is older than the sod, was the team allowed to be practicing that early? I think not.Strange.
  4. Given that camp starts tomorrow, will the StadiumCams remain in operation so long as the team is not on the field?
  5. I think some of that concrete, at least on the FirstMerit Club level, will be covered with 522 premium seats, presumably along the lines of the stadium seats in Canal Park or Progressive Field.Above that, four chairs and a table are to be installed in each of the 38 loge boxes.http://www.gozips.com/fls/10800/PDF/U%20of...DB_OEM_ID=10800
  6. Is that an informal workout taking place at midfield?
  7. No kidding! That photo looks like a painting or artist's rendering! Nice job!Now THAT's what Zeke meant, when he said he wanted a downtown campus that didn't LOOK like downtown! Damn, that's gorgeous. Now all they need to do is put some face brick on the side of the Stile Center!
  8. I had heard that the Varsity A Association was going to have a tent there on game days.
  9. No kidding! That photo looks like a painting or artist's rendering! Nice job!
  10. Hate to say it, but many pieces of sod behind and to the right of the goal post already have turned brown.
  11. Yeah, too bad about the tacky light poles...especially since they are doing a nice job integrating the dorms and the stadium. The lights stick out like sore thumbs. But if that's the only blemish on the project, who's to complain I guess?
  12. Orrville football star Chase Hoobler, who recently made a verbal commitment to attend UA, sings the praises of Infocision Stadium in an article in the Wooster Daily Record."I've seen the new stadium twice and it's really sweet," Hoobler said. "Their facilities all-around are some of the best I've seen on any of my college visits."The article also says that Orrville conducted 7-on-7 passing drills at the Info. How could we Stadiumcam watchers possibly have missed that?!
  13. I can't make out the light pole(s) on the stadium cams. Are they at least tight up against the back of the east stands?
  14. Wow, sorry, I had no idea...nor that you could even ascertain how many cookies visiting a site dumps onto your computer!
  15. Do you think the Info will rate getting one of those cool Danbury Mint miniature stadium replicas? The University of Virginia one depicts the grassy hill that was mentioned (scroll to near bottom of list; list is alphabetical).
  16. Sounds like a giant waste of money and an even larger waste of water. If we want Rowdies in the end zone, just put in bleachers there and let them go wild. Putting thousands of fans on a grass berm, particularly in NEO Ohio with all sorts of weather conditions, is just plain silly.
  17. None of the above. What I would like to see most is every seat full on game day!
  18. It would be foolish to allow thousands of fans to trample 6-week-old grass. Also, the grass area is just a small part of the student seating, which also includes the last three sections on the south end on both sides.
  19. Can anybody identify the advertisers? Giant Eagle on the upper right is the only one clear to me on the cam.
  20. ThanksI get to update my wallpaper. They are actually updating this page  University Stadium SiteI like the way the back of the scoreboard will look. Advertise all sports.Wonder if that side will include a message board panel listing upcoming games for all sports?
  21. Here are the top 10 home attendance marks by per-game average, through 2007, according to the 2008 MAC Football Media Guide:1. 30,014, Toledo, 20012. 28,858, Toledo, 20073. 28,674, Marshall 19994. 27,789, Marshall, 20025. 26,578, Marshall, 20016. 26,401, Marshall, 19977. 25,567, Toledo, 19948. 25,136, Northern Illinois, 20079. 24,788, Marshall, 199810. 23,601, Northern Illinois, 2003I’m not sure how accurate these figures are; for example, the NCAA website shows Toledo averaged 32,012 per home game in 2001. Maybe it uses a different method of counting than the MAC.Whatever, this gives you an idea of where the bar has been set.
  22. Agree. Let it get established for a year.Maybe they could paint A K R O N on the grass in big white block letters, kind of in homage to the Rubber Bowl/Fulton Airport.http://www.flickr.com/photos/98131992@N00/3524581902/
  23. Nice! Think that back-lighted UA athletics logo is two-sided? Would be way cool to see it also facing Exchange Street, maybe at the very top of the entire scoreboard?
  24. You are correct. As I recall the athletic department, in an attempt to boost attendance that year, also started a rumor that a door had been installed on one of the men's room stalls.Acutally, back in 2006, some of the more thoughtful members of this very board offered some good marketing ideas to boost attendance and meet the requirement. Not sure any were implemented, but you can reminisce here [insert broken record sound track]:http://zipsnation.org/forums//index.php?showtopic=3316
