That's it I'm done, how do you call a TO on a FG and a 4th and 1 punt. I have given JD my support all along but now I'm done. The play calling is atroshich, is that a word? How don't you throw the ball downfield with Nicely's arm. The play calling is ridiculous. They don't have a clue what they have with Nicely,hopefully he does not want to transfer. That kid is the best thing this place has seen in years. The personal fouls out of bounds were terrible but that what i've been seeing from MAC officiating. I sent them a e-mail a couple weeks ago about evaluations on there officials and they never got back to me. This wil be my last post until we make some changes. GO ZIPS!!

Does anyone know what place has Dish Network? They show it being on Ch.438 and Direct Tv shows Ch.639 but it's not regional and I don't have a clue where to look for Time Warner New York.....Also I can't get ESPN Plus

I agree zippy, the Ohio game was within reach if not for the turnovers and special teams kicking us in the ass. The Buffalo game was another turnoverfest but could have been pulled out despite having some crucial referee calls that changed the game. I don't see the team giving up at all. They need to take it personally now. Go Zips!!

Well hello fellow zippers, I taped the game and just got done watching it slowly.First of all the special teams is a major problem that must need to be addressed first and foremost. The defense I thought played well. It sucks that we lose two good players,did Buffalo lose anybody? That might make me feel a little better,just kidding. The RB situation was a bright spot with Devoe except for him coughing it up in the red zone. I like the pitch to him in open space and let him create something. We totally got homered ,jobbed or whatever you want to call it. Those two nondefensive pass interference calls where ridiculous to say the least. Nicely played like a veteran. The pick in the endzone was due to bowser running the wrong route. JD made a comment before going into the locker room at halftime mentioning that the reciever did not help him. Also the pick at the end was thrown behind him a bit but the reciever could have made a two handed play on the ball and not played the tip drill to the defense. Hopefully the team takes there situation personally and comes out against Syracuse with a mean streak. It ain't over till it's over. Go Zips!!

The defense has been playing well, we need the special teams to show up and make some big plays. Hopefully the coaching staff has picked one kicker and he makes a difference, please punt the ball. The weather might be a factor, I think that Harris will go with high percentage throws for Nicely and keep it simple. We need a RB that can break one, Tuzze has been great between the tackles but I think we need to stretch the field. Zips pull out a close one 28 to 24.Go Zips!!

Just think if JD was SURE what his true freshmen knew how that might change our lineup...If you know how to determine for SURE how a true freshman will perform against D1 competition, as opposed to what he showed in high school or in practice, please don't waste your great knowledge posting it here. Share it directly with the Zips coaching staff.let me attend every practice and then cut me a check after my evaluation and I would surely access the talent..Go Zips!

This a qoute from JD on Nicely= "We obviously can't ask him to play beyond his years and he can't try to" and I say WHY NOT! Does that mean we have players that are not asked to play to there full potential because there 19 and not 20. I say let him loose, I understand they want to bring him along slowly but he looks like he wants to make a play every down. JD needs to pick a kicker and stick with him. The special teams are killing us. Go Zips!!

Very good post Captain I'm on the same page as you. Our #1 problem now is our special teams. We need to find a punter,kicker and someone to catch a football. The recievers need to go for the ball and run good routes. We can turn this thing around. Go Zips!!

I like Nicely's mechanics, but it's hard for me to put a raving endorsement on a guy who completed 9 of 23 passes, and an offense who scored once in the 2nd half on a very short drive after a turnover. A lot of over/under throws even on some simple routes. But, I will look forward to seeing if he can show some promise over the next few games. We really have no options now...it appears Matt is done with that injury. The guy who completed 9 of 23 had five passes dropped and two wrong routes run, that would make it 16 for 23 with maybe a different outcome. Go Zips!!

History can repeat itself, the Zips have been down before and rebounded to a winning season. Don't count JD and company out to coach the team up and make a run. This team is not going to give up and we need to be supportive. If the O-line can give Nicely the protection he needs he showed the poise to deliver the ball. The recievers need to focus on catching the ball and moving the chains. The special teams need to grab there boot straps up and focus on the job at hand. It's not going to be easy but at the end of the day THAT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME!! Go Zips!!

First let me say that Nicely should have started after the Indiana game. Sure he's as JD says a true pup freshman but last I checked so are many other D1 programs playing them. That's a lame excuse,it's a terrible that Matt suffered a season ending injury and I wish him nothing but the best in his recovery. Nicely was 9 for 23 just think if Braylon Bowser and a couple others would have caught a few more. The penalties and turnovers must be corrected or we are in for a world of hurt. The special teams and kicking game needs some serious adjustments. The defense and the O-line looked good, we need to focus one game at a time. Go Zips!!

How long do you wait for Rodgers to get acclimated? He's been here for what three years. If he throws a few ints. or can't move the ball by halftime? When do you make a change, maybe against Buffalo or NIU. We need to win yesterday, look around the country and see how many true freshmen are starting. You're either a QB or your not. We need to get the running game going in order to be successful. The defense needs to make some significant progress or we are in for a long season. Go Zips!!

Good article in the Plain Dealer today by Terry Pluto on previous Akron and current Head Coach Dennison at Walsh University, I think we could use some Positive Mental Attitude. He sounds like quite a special man. Go Zips!!

I myself have done some research and what the Coach did would not warrant anything but missing a week of recruiting in December. I personally feel that someone has a hidden agenda. I hope Coach can put this behind him and go forward with the attitude that I've witnessed as nothing but class. Let's all focus on the job at hand and that is getting better as a football team. [i will go on record as saying it will NOT turn into anything huge. Because it is not. Take that to the bank.If you want to sell papers or generate "hits" you create yourself a nice headline that infers a kid was given money, a hooker, etc. ZipsNation doesn't need to sell newspapers, and we get no income from the number of "hits" our site generates, so we have the ability to keep the hyperbole to a minimum...zero if we so choose. The violation of which Coach Ferri was accused is, based upon my research, considered a "secondary violation" by the NCAA. Penalties range from absolutely nothing, to loss of a car trip or two for recruiting this fall. That's it. And those allegations remain unproven/under investigation at this time.If Ferri stepped down, he did what he felt was best for himself and his family. It is as simple as that. He busted his ass for The University of Akron for 6 years. It bothers me tremendously that this is the way it closes for him. He deserved better.I agree with you Captain, the guy was a class act and did something that would not by NCAA rules have amounted to anything. Personally I think someone has a hidden agenda against this coaching staff.(AD maybe) I have not seen that uncomfortable video from JD and the soccer coach with the AD anymore. Go Zips!

My prediction depends on the personel changes,if we stay with the same offensive personel we lose by 10 if we change and the play calling gets more inventive who knows. Let's face it this season is basically a wash what with CJ blowing it up. If the team can man up and play to there potential we can possibly salvage a winning season.
