  1. The worst part of all of this was the false claim that Tree could somehow make it back if he did all of the right things. For anyone who believes that, it makes it seem like Tree screwed up several times as opposed to the one awful night and that's just not the case. Tree was never coming back. It sucks and it wasn't something anyone wanted to hear, but it was the difficult truth. It's time to move on from Tree as a Zip, and it has been for awhile. We have an exciting young team that has several players stepping into bigger roles. It's time to focus our attention on them. As for Tree, I think he's learned that one really bad night can change your life forever. Hopefully he remembers that when he gets his next opportunity. And he will - he's a good kid who made a really dumb decision that he has to live with, but it isn't the end for him. With his talent, he'll get a shot overseas. Making really good money playing professionally isn't too shabby for a kid who was close to being a high school dropout before turning his life around. I'll still remember him as one of my favorite Zips. He had a great three years here and has many more ahead of him. Best of luck to him moving forward.
  2. Just because something is hard to do doesn't mean criticism can't come with it. I don't think anyone is saying this. But the officiating was wildly inconsistent last night. The Zips shouldn't have put themselves in the position they did, but to say the officiating didn't impact the game - especially the flow of it - is just ignoring the obvious.
  3. Let's be honest, if Antino stays in and misses the shot there's just as many people questioning why our 2nd best three point shooter this season (and a guy who has hit clutch shots before) was on the bench.
  4. So many contradictions...
  5. Nobody said it lost them the game but it certainly impacted the game.
  6. This was a disappointing game but one that will pay off in the end. The Middle Tennessee State defense is top notch and really challenged Akron. While I won't get into a referee rant, they also had some frustration from them seemingly every time they started to make a run. Even so, they fought back and had several chances to win the game. As for Jake and Kwan taking those shots, I have absolutely no problem with it. I know they were having rough shooting nights but they were solid looks and both entered the contest shooting 40% from 3 point range on the season, good for 2nd and 3rd on the team respectively...they just didn't fall. This team is going to continue to grow as the season goes on. Five of the ten players KD played tonight are true freshmen or sophomores. We're going to have some growing pains along the way. I'm confident this will be an impressive squad by the time we get to Cleveland, one capable of getting us back to The Dance.
  7. Awful tonight...just awful.
  8. I'd say his most probable next step is playing professionally overseas.
  9. Man oh man...I thought if Tree met certain conditions he could and probably would rejoin the team?
  10. How much were the jerseys?
  11. It's incredibly sad that we need to do this. The options at the team shop and bookstore are embarrassing.
  12. Check your PM
  13. I guess I'll shut up, per your request, because I'm not here to engage in a source war. The end result of all of this will clear that up.
  14. I think someone gave you bad information. Move on folks.
  15. Tree was my favorite player to watch the last three years so it's tough for me to say this, but we need to move on. I hope the young man finishes his degree and gets a shot overseas.
  16. It doesn't look like they'll be a pushover. They had a 34-28 lead over UConn at UConn before eventually losing by 13.
  17. Pohl's ranks among the 14 MAC QBs listed on ESPN.com: QB Rating - 13th Completion PCT - 12th Yards Per Attempt - 14th Passing Yards - 8th The Zips were 5-5 with Pohl starting. He is the definition of average. I've seen enough of Kyle Pohl.
  18. Pathetic performance to this point
  19. No arrest doesn't = no wrongdoing.
  20. I was a bit surprised by the lack of discussion about Noah Robotham when the Zips landed him. Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year and coming from a very successful high school program, I expected a bit more excitement. His numbers through five games, which included four "Power Five" opponents: 13.2 PPG, 2,2 APG, 3.0 RPG, 1.0 SPG, 2.0 TPG, .447 FG%, .500 3PT%, .824 FT% The 3PT percentage will obviously drop (although that is over 20 attempts - impressive) but the rest of the stats are comparable to what Quincy Diggs provided Akron last season. Of course, Diggs was a 23 year old senior, while Robotham is a true freshman who just turned 18 in June. Robotham carries himself and leads the team like a veteran player. He plays calm, cool, and collected and usually makes the intelligent basketball decision. He is the best freshman player we've had since Zeke Marshall...the question is, how good is he now and how good can he be?
  21. Tree is done here folks...might as well accept it. It's time to move on.
  22. Sucks being a Zips fan amiright?
  23. This just became typical KD-hater - find something to complain about in a 20 point win
  24. No, he will not.
