  1. I'm not expecting anything. I go to the games to support my team and school no matter if they win or lose. Yeah, it sucked losing again Saturday night but honestly, I had a ball. It was awesome. Far more fans in the stands than I expected and the night game atmosphere blew my mind. In the beginning of the year I was reading all of these things about the team and their talent and thought we were going to be a powerhouse of a team and honestly surprise Penn State. Now we're 1 and 4 and it sucked for a little while but who cares, it's not like if they lose every game I'm going to stop being a Zips fan. That's what it's all about...Win or lose this is your team. I understand the disgust from boosters and financial supporters and what not but the team is out there to playing for us, sacrificing so they can play football. I think their confidence has taken a BIG hit but they haven't given up, and neither should any of the fans. That's why we're THE ZIPS NATION.
  2. HERE WE GO BABY ITS GAME TIME!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO GO ZIPS GO ZIPS GO ZIPS BEAT THE BOB KITTENS ITS GO TIME GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Well, I believe the score is 4 to 0 Zips at 58:21

  5. We were pretty damn rowdy...The first half was a little quiet since we were on our side but after the half, when their goalie was right in front of us, all hell broke loose. It's great when on corner kicks, we're so loud that the goalie and defenders that are screaming to each other, cupping their ears trying to hear the commands, get pissed at their own team HAHA
  6. We may not intimidate a Big Ten School with our stadium, but I think it certainly gives our players an advantage being in their own home with zips fans surrounding them. I'm not sure how much of a difference all of that actually makes but it has to have some effect. IDK.
  7. That looks pretty sweet...
  8. I have. Not much has been said, yet.I haven't found much either. Most of what I found is them talking about how pathetic their football team is and how tired they were of sub par performance. Some of their fans think Akron will win, others don't. They were pissed that they just barely got by their first games playing teams from..."The Mac"
  9. Well, just bought 3 more reserved tickets for the football game and three more for the soccer game.
  10. Ok, I need HELP!! I just picked up a GA ticket for Indiana football for my Girlfriend and my student ticket. I asked the ticket lady and she said it wasn't looking like another sell out?? GET YOUR FAMILIES TO GO, I WANT HER TO SEE IT PACKED. Anyway, at the same time I bought two soccer tickets, one for her and one for her friend. I also plan on my mom, dad, and little brother to come because they want to see the soccer team. Hopefully my dad can get off work to bring them all to the football too game but who knows. I'm a Rowdie so I didn't buy a ticket for myself. Is there a possibility that I won't be able to get in and they will?? I was planning on getting everyone there super early because I knew it would be a huge game but DAMN, that's way early. I'm assuming I should just have everyone ready to go at friggin 4:30 or 5.
  11. I think a night game will be awesome and may change your mind about the atmosphere.
  12. HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! The fireworks last night, which I saw close up off my balcony at Fir Hill were awesome. I know now that they were planned but at the time my roommate and I didn't. That was a great touch. Walking around campus this morning with everything going on was spectacular. All frats and parking lots were boomin' and I wasn't even there for the full swing of tailgating. Walked around and saw the b-ball team tent with the players around in front of the rec. While standing there, waiting for friends, the football team walked into the field house while the crowd applauded them. They all had smiles on their faces like it was something new to them. Got a picture with Zippy in between the field house and the stadium. Past a guy in front of the stadium holding a sign saying "Akron U exploits Black Athletes"??. Got in line early (around 12:10) to get in and went through smoothly and quickly. We all sat in the student section on the east side and sat in the part lower to the field. I was a little nervous in the beginning seeing the stands less than full but all that changed when it got closer to kick off. The introductory ceremony was nothing short of amazing. All the speeches by Dr.P and company were awesome. The Goodyear blimp was flyin' overhead and then there were the drop troopers or whatever that friggin landed on the turf with streamers and a gigantic American flag. Fireworks and cutting the opening ribbon ensued. The crowd was ecstatic for the whole endeavor and it was absolutely overwhelming. By that time the stands were full, and LOUD. We picked up our streamers and shook them to death. I was a little embarrassed to cheer loud at first, but when I could no longer hear myself think, I lost it. Kids began rushing the grass area and tons of people were just standing around, I assume in admiration. Couldn't have asked for better weather imo. The game was crazy, a little worrying in the first few minutes, but crazy. We were awesome, Bowser was unstoppable, Allen makin plays (except for the whole up the gut thing) and the QB's consistent and accurate. But those are just a few starters, the entire team was great and more importantly, having a ball. Some time, when the lead got out of hand, they showed the team on the scoreboard, which was awesome in and of itself, dancing to the music and smilin'. The band was superb, not that my opinion counts for anything but I think they did an amazing job and looked flawless. Fast forward to the end of the game and I'm exhausted from standing and screaming the entire time. The team runs up in a group and just stands there, right in from of my section, staring at us with their helmets in the air cheering and dancing back at us. Upon leaving, an older fan stopped me while I was with my friends and said "You guys did a great job cheering. We were on the other side and it was great to watch you guys". Speaking of us cheering, from someone who was at the North end, how loud were we? Could you hear our chants, and how did you like the corresponding cheers from side to side? Walking away I was stunned...41-0, 27,000 plus fans, a stellar ceremony, I think it's safe to say this day was a HUGE success and was perfect. A new day in Zips Football tradition. The only downside of today; severe dehydration during the game and half of my body is sun burnt red.
  13. It was student appreciation day all over campus today and they gave us free tee shirts after we participated in a couple of games and stuff. They also gave us posters and calendars of the new stadium and stuff. The shirts are awesome and say " New Stadium, New Rules" and things to that effect. A TON of students were out participating so that's awesome. On the front of the shirt it says "ROO ZOO" and "ROOS REFUSE TO LOSE" I would imagine the students are going to wear these shirts and our student section will be "THE ZOO" It's awesome but it would be cool to do something like that in the city for the surrounding community.
  14. Play by play, game by game. We need to learn from this game and look at our strengths and weaknesses. I was upset too but there were somethings that were great in this game. Looking forward, the first game of this season was the toughest and our next game is against a D-1AA team. I think this might play to our advantage if we can do things we didn't in Happy Valley in our first game against the Bears. It might prove to be a very valuable experience for the team. Don't underestimate Morgan State and play every down like we're fighting for our lives, for ever team after. GO ZIPS!!
  15. I got my wristband the first day they started offering them and I also bought a GA ticket for my girlfriend who is coming from MSU to waatch the game. Is there any way I could sneak her into the student section? I know no one has any idea what the security is going to be like but I really want her to be able to cheer with us and the ROWDIES.
  16. GO ZIPS BABY WOOOOOO!!!!!!! IT'S GO TIME!!!!
  17. I think we should have a new comers forum where people could introduce themselves if they wanted. They could get advice on things from grads or other students as well as learn the site and members. Just a suggestion.
  18. You're going to have to wait a little longer. We don't get them until 2011.Damn, my mistake
  19. HAHA, god. Whoever wrote this sounds like such a little b@!#h. What the heck set him off???? Sounds insecure to me
  20. depends on the arm. wouldn't want my love life to sufferhaha Well played, well played
  21. I'm not that much into the B-11 but my top 2 teams would be 1. Michigan State and 2. Penn State. Didn't know the two were rivals, only knew of the MSU U of M rivalry. The only reason I like MSU is because my girlfriend goes there and the only reason I like PSU is because... the fans that posted on here and I like PSU better than the other teams for whatever reason. Joe Pa is cool to me. I was, like so many others under the stronghold that..the school that must not be named.. has over Ohio. I've never been to that school but I rooted for them during their games and my cousins (huge Columbus State fans but have reasons to be) gave me a Columbus State shirt to wear. Last year, when my gf got me a ticket to see the MSU-Columbus State game I wore the shirt...at MSU. About half way through the first quarter I had an epiphany. I don't go to this school, I'm a Zip. I don't and have never really cared about Columbus State so why the EFF AM I WEARING THIS TEE SHIRT!?!? EFF COLUMBUS STATE GO ZIPS. I haven't worn the shirt since and have been aching to go to Columbus for the first time when the ZIPS play them next season. I can happily say that this change has happened with all of my friends that attend UA with me and we are all now die hard ZIPS fans.P.S. I'm also aching for an MSU UofA game to shut the mouths of some of her friends up there and rub it in a little. I read on here somewhere that someone didn't know if MSU played non BCS teams but I'm pretty sure I remember hearing her friend talk about an EMU or WMU game.
