  1. It was 2 years ago that we lost Tank Arrington. Wouldn't he have enjoyed yesterday's victory? Wish he was still with us.
  2. I don't know if you saw the pregame show but Trevor Matich called the Zips unis "the best in all of college football".
  3. After being maligned for years, I loved seeing Pratt step up big in his last game.
  4. As soon as the game was over, my phone started blowing up with texts from non-fan friends.
  5. Wow. I didn't realize it would be this emotional.
  6. Damn, that fight song sounds good!
  7. Stuff 'em.
  8. Well, shit.
  9. Officiating has sucked today.
  10. Bring in Cody and win this game!
  11. C'mon, Zips. You can do it.
  12. That was huge.
  13. Best predictor of future performance is past performance. Same old song and dance.
  14. Jatavis Brown. Best Zip ever.
  15. Clear out your cookies and you're good to go.
  16. I sure did, but I didn't judge the entire religion because of a violent fringe element.
  17. I'm not too worried about that. Mormons are usually pretty quiet and reserved.
  18. I am all for piling on the ABJ when they publish garbage about UA, but I thought Marla's last piece was fair. With Akron's football history, you can't expect gushing lovefest reporting for a 7-5 season.
  19. If that was the determining factor, I think there would probably only be about 30 schools still playing football.
  20. It is sad that the players don't feel the love in Akron. I would be interested to know who they feel more jilted by, the fans or their fellow students? I think the fans show the players a lot of love. They don't get the love that the coaching staff gets, but they also don't take the scrutiny that the coaching staff takes, either. I know your son is a freshman and he doesn't have a frame of reference, but I wonder if we asked a senior if things improved on the love meter during his time in Akron. I know a former player that decided to transfer out for his senior year was partially due to the complete lack of respect shown to him from the student body which went as far as actually being openly mocked in the student union. Hopefully that kind of sentiment isn't around anymore.
  21. FABJ.
  22. CK, are you sure these teams are mediocre?
  23. How effin anticlimactic. God love all you soccer fans. I have no idea how you do it.
  24. Even non-soccer fans like me enjoy reading a story like that. Kudos to Marla on a nice article.
  25. Henry Grantland Rice was an early 20th-century American sportswriter known for his elegant prose. Craig Webb likes tweeting about roller coasters. I don't like reading negativity about the accomplishment the Zips made this year. As depressing as our D-1A history has been, this bowl game is a cause for rejoicing no matter the circumstances. I don't know Mr. Webb, but I doubt if he knows the heartache that long time fans of this program have endured. Ya know what? That might be a story that could be written for the Beacon. . . interview some long suffering fans of the program and get their take on bowl eligibility. Here's an idea! Contact some of the players and coaches that are just a few city blocks away for some interviews. A newspaper in freaking Idaho can get that done, but not the BJ. Naw, let's regurgitate some nonsense from some internet blowbags that actually feel the need to rank the watchability of the goddamn bowl games. Now, there have been a lot of opinions floated on this very forum that have been critical of the Zips, even critical of the University itself, but those viewpoints come from the sometimes hurting hearts that want the best for our beloved institution. I believe Charlie Daniels said it best:
