Clayton Moore Transitions from JUCO to DI-A
akron football replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football
okay what about the pick 6's he just chucks it up just like he did in juco that wont get it done here -
I promise you when I listen to Ianello in his youtube pregame rant he says the same things, we need to get better start over blah blah blah. This guy is without a doubt the worst div. 1 head coach I've ever listened too.. Watching this team is painful..
-
Pad his numbers throw little outs
-
Woohoo TD against the third string, the first TD should have last week PN7 to price in the endzone but of course dropped
-
It's about time. If Ianello is a good recruiter, we should be playing all the freshmen until the rest of teh team can prove that they belong on the field. When your known quantities add up to Zero, you have to go with potential. If they keep Ianello someone is smoking crack
-
Moore has no business being the starting QB none

How many passes where dropped I lost count

For me, that should have sent PN to the bench a long time ago. So, I will hold Moore to the same standard.Remember...he hasn't had the luxury of throwing against EMU, Buffalo, Can't or a 1-AA team yet either, which better be enough to bring those numbers up significantly. I'll say this again, even though I do NOT want to be put in the same category of those making excuses for our QB for the last two years. But....most people think that our protection and dropped ball problems were worse than ever Saturday night. Losing all of our skill guys, and a few OLs HAD to be a big concern to all of us going into the season. Our backs are having problems even holding onto dump passes. And Carter and LaFrance suddenly must be looking like All-Americans to us, compared to what we saw last weekend. But again, in my opinion, I could see a QB using this as an excuse as to why his numbers should be better. But, regardless of the circumstances, I still believe that somewhere in the 50-60 range should be an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM for a college QB.. Lee Adams you my friend have hit the nail on the head. Ianello said he wants a leader in the huddle, how about excecuting the plays. The problem with this team was not the QB postion. I thought this was the year PN7 was going to break out, for all the kid has been through you'd think he deserved his shot at righting the ship. I don't know how long this experiment will continue with Moore. Please don't assume that games against those teams will prove to be any more productive. Frankly when Ianello decided to go with a QB who had never played in his system, and,as far as I know never threw a pass at the DI level and didn't actually show anything more in 'pre-season' than Nicely,it said to me that he was starting all over again. Ianello isn't in it to win much if anything this year. He knows he as at least 1 if not 2 more years before the AD actually expects any consistent winning.

What do you think the players of this team will tell there children about there experiences at the University of Akron?
-
Buckeyes intercepted, I'm sorry was that to ugly...
-
AJ Price drops the first TD of the year and another over the middle, team looks horrific! How many drops and how many sacks...foundation,process
-
why did Nicely actually show leadership in calling out the lackluster play of the o-line and hurt some feelings. Maybe Moore can tell them how good they are and dance and tell jokes.
-
When PN7 came in the o-line packed it in, they let him get sacked three times. But then again he's probably become used to getting sacked. Moore does not even know the offense well enough to keep him under center. they put him in the shotgun because he's more comfortable. Moore probably high fived Ianello's son and told some jokes to his teammates to make everything OK after the great performance. Just run around and chuck it up that's what we'll see all year . What a joke of a QB. But he can dance on the floor in the locker room. The O-line and the receivers are at best mediocre. The defense shows promise actually. Let's see against the play calling will be Chisolm up the middle and a couple boundary passes. Because that's all the plays he probably knows. Remember he came from that scary Mississippi junior college. Here we go Temple...

The 10 Ten Reasons Why UA Might Give OSU a Game

Clayton Moore article from Cbus Dispatch
akron football replied to xu9697's topic in Akron Zips Football
It's a popularity contest -
[']Again, this might be a huge understatement, but our current situation likely leaves us with nothing to lose. And as a few people mentioned, at the very least, it's defnitely done something to rejuvenate fan interest. I was getting phone calls almost immediately after that announcement was made. That would have never happened if we were simply going to "stay the course". I don't believe a QB change does anything to rejuvenate fan interest. Poll 100 people in Summit County and ask them "Who is Clayton Moore?" If one says - "The starting QB for the Zips" I'll wear a K.e.n.t State Basketball orange jumpsuit for a continuous week. I was, and continue to be in Nicely's corner. He was pressed into service as a true Freshman in the train wreck that was Brookhart's final season. And if anyone want to blame the 3-9 season on Nicely...just stop it. Seriously. Year #2 Nicely has to learn an entirely new offense, under a new coach, with a swiss cheese OL, and WR's that couldn't catch a ball or run a route to save their lives. Nicely was great in the Buffalo finale. He through some awesome passes into a tough wind, on a ridiculously cold day. And the WR's did a nice job of getting open and catching the ball. People questioned Nicely's leadership...I've seen the season-ending games between 2 horrible teams in year's past. "The Who Gives a Damn Bowls." Nicely lead his team to a "W" in a game where he easily could have tanked it. It showed his capabilities and moxie. I've never seen Moore throw a pass. Maybe he's great? I hope so. But Nicely was dealt an impossible set of circumstances in his initial 2 years @ UA. I would like to have seen what he could do now that the UA football "drama tornado" has seemingly stabilized. Hope he doesn't transfer. Thank you CK, I truly believe that the Coach wanted his guy. Patrick deserved the right to start, he says he needs a leader in the huddle not just call the plays. Patrick has always been a leader by example not a rah rah guy. If you watch CM on the sidelines he's high fiving the coach's sons running around yuking it up with all the players and Patrick is focused on the field . CM was roomed with the o-line in camp and Patrick was with a d-line. If it's Patrick's leadership abilities that the difference then why didn't they talk to him about. He's to good to deserve this raw deal.

What a tool....

Akron will have a much better chance with Moore back there. They will need someone that can move. Nicely will get killed back there. If Moore is as advertised he will at least keep the chains moving a little bit. OSU has all new linebackers back there along with some new faces on the d-line. Moore could make it interesting. What makes you think that Moore gives us a better chance? I don't care if your Mike Vick if your o-line does not pick up the rush he's going down. What exactly did you see that I missed in the spring. What the ten passes that he completed to sideline reciever. Patrick gives us a much better chance to win. He works harder , knows the offense better, has a better arm, has a better head on his shoulders and has class. I really would hope that zipnation would support him after all he's been through but I'm well aware of the what have you done for me lately mentality. I'm a supporter and can't wait till he proves it. Zips 21 Ohio Stae 35. Just to much depth!GO ZIPS!!
