I will never forgive the Cavs for not drafting Enrique. He literally played in their backyard and they let Indiana take him.
Really strong performance in the preseason so far. Especially compared to Bronny James who's scored like 2 points in 3 games 😂.

Honestly I think they are a huge downgrade and desperately need some navy trim.
They look like those cheap Chinese knockoffs.

The Zips have no business winning this game. But two missed holding calls in the endzone on consecutive plays is inexcusable.
-
This will go from a 10-7 lead to a blowout.

Nightmare ending to this half.

This will never happen because : 1) It makes too much sense, and 2) no schools in the P4, especially Big Ten and SEC, will give up the huge money they enjoy, both now and in the future. Bring on a G5 championship and forget about them.
Yeah I totally agree. The conferences make too much money and won't throw it all away. Competitiveness in college football has never been their goal. It's always about money.
On top of that, the elite schools would want no part in strengthening their schedules. They enjoy playing 2-3 meaningful games all year because it gives them a better shot at the CFP. If they wanted tougher schedules they would play better teams to start the season.

I've always thought the easiest solution would be to create a football pyramid, similar to European soccer.
3 tiers of teams with the possibility of promotion/relegation.
Each team is ranked based on the previous season and they have the chance to move up/down halfway though the season. Teams play 12 games. First 6 include 4 evenly ranked teams and 2 games against teams in the tier above or below them. Then the next 6 are against teams in the same tier.
This would prevent teams like Ohio State from scheduling nothing but cupcakes for the first 4 weeks, make sure we get great matchups all season long and give fans a lot more variety. I'd love to see Akron play more teams in football outside of the same old directional MAC schools.

Oh I hadn’t seen that one as being a done deal yet but that would be interesting. Maybe the SBC would be looking to poach a C-USA team or two to fill the gap.
Let's just merge with them and create a super-conference. Is 26 teams too much? 😂

Sounds like he will be back in some type of advisory/fundraising role.
I'm surprised nothing has been said about this weeks later. Just one tweet from a random account saying he will be "assistant to the AD."

A slightly below average offense and the Zips win today. Unfortunately we have probably the worst offense in college football.

If the refs miss the penalty, isn't it missed? Why is there a review?
There needs to be indisputable evidence too. No views we saw showed an obvious forward pass. So unless the refs had a different angle, I'm not sure where that call came from.

The awareness by Finley is atrocious. 4th and 8 and he throws a 3 yard checkdown to a covered TE.

Absolutely horrible offensive performance. 3rd and 10 on every possession. Joe Mo needs to make a big change in the offense. Maybe he should not be calling plays.
Absolutely no run game and nothing but checkdowns for loss of yard plays. Then an 18 yard sack out of timeout. This is embarrassing.

Considering how bad the offense has been...Reghi isn't completely wrong. If Akron's defense was really playing poorly, it'd be 44-10. Tackling isn't great, but the defense really hasn't been that bad.
Yeah this has probably been one of the worst offensive performances I've ever seen by a Zips team. It's only a matter of time though until this game is blown open.
-
"Akron defense hanging in there tremendously well"
As they give up a big run and 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty.
I'm so done listening to Reghi.
-
-8 yards of total offense this half. Inexcusably awful.
-
This incomplete pass - incomplete pass - short check down pass for 1 yard offense ain't going to win this game. What the heck are they doing?!
So far this half we're 2/6 for 0 yards.

I would just like to see Akron play one game of decent football with no stupid mistakes or turnovers, decent pass protection, a decent run game and no questionable coaching decisions. If Ohio plays better than us, I can take the loss. But can we have one game where people on this board do not post, "what the heck (WTF)"?
I say the same thing every Saturday and Sunday.
Literally just hit open receivers, don't make dumb mistakes and tackle. It shouldn't be this difficult. But for some reason my teams just can't do the most basic stuff.
We went from 10-7 and now it will soon be 21-10 in a blink of an eye.

Aside from a fantastic punt that led to the nice TD and an okay scripted first drive, it's been a really inconsistent game. Zips can't run the ball or really do much on offense and the defense can't tackle.

Too many missed tackles on D
This is an embarrassing performance by the defense. Just giving them free first downs.

I'm a Morehead guy but his field presence and body language does not project anything positive for me.
Seems like whenever they show him he's just shaking his head and looks sort of confused. Maybe he's frustrated that the team has had so many missed opportunities this game to get back into it.
Is it too much to ask for the Zips to have a QB that can hit wide open receivers?

...Love the play call though.
Makes them respect it..... Opens up run game.... It all works together.
Agree completely. The nice runs set up the PA shot. Have to capitalize.

Damn Norton was open!
Wide open TD and Finley completely missed him. Can't happen in this game.

Have to be aggressive if you want to hang with an SEC appointment. Don't play scared. Try to throw the ball downfield. We have a QB and WRs who can make plays.
What's the worst that can happen? We lose? That's happening anyway. Take a chance at least.
This super conservative, control the clock stuff ain't working.

So for the first time ever I get to watch the Zips and Browns both lose on the same day. 😂
