  1. I played for about 3 hours last night. Definitely an enjoyable game and way more fun than Madden. Switched around the Zips 2024 schedule and I'm currently 2-0 heading into the matchup with Ohio State. The roster is pretty locked down. You can adjust ratings and equipment, but everything else like names, numbers, positions, etc can't be changed. So hypothetically if you wanted to make a historical Zips team, you can't.

My suspicions were correct and the stadium/campus are lacking a lot of detail. Hopefully it will get upgraded as the years go on. Right now you can see the Fieldhouse and Spicer Residence hall. Everything else looks like generic buildings. Back in 2014 you could actually see inside the pressbox and all the buildings along Exchange St were there.

Worst of all  no Zippy in the game 😠.

  2. Freeman just continues to exceed expectations and is getting a ton of love from Pacers fans. It's really surreal to see a Zips basketball player getting this much hype in the NBA, even if it's just Summer League. Really great for him and for our basketball program.

Can't wait to see the real gameplay footage. I believe there's some sort of color adjustment for these to make colors more harsh. The video this came from featured a home-field touchdown by every school in the game, and the other clips I've seen have very harsh colors. Indiana and UMASS have brutally vibrant reds in the clips, for example.

As for the center logo being wrong, Matthew Cherry seems confident that'll be hot fixed, hopefully before release.

I watched most of the clips from that streamer. My guess is it's more of a color issue on their end and not the game. Because every school with gold looked really yellow, navy looks closer to royal blue and even Texas's burnt orange looked like blinding highlighter orange.

The stadium definitely looks less detailed than it did in NCAA 14. I was afraid they'd just give us a genetic stadium, so at least it looks like ours.

Mr Negative strikes again. I’ve been to games at Toledo and the only thing different is that they have been winning for a long time which translates into better crowds…which translates into better atmosphere….which translates into better experience. Akron has a great stadium, if they start winning it will be a fun atmosphere.

The first home opener at InfoCision was one of the best football atmospheres I've ever been a part of. It felt like a big-time game and the crowd was electric (at least when the game was close for that first quarter lol). It was more fun than I've had at any Browns game or even when I went down to State College to watch the Zips play PSU.

We have one of the nicer stadiums in D1. Football is king in Northeast Ohio. If the Zips ever become relevant again, the fans will come.

Enrique's not guaranteed a spot on Indy's roster, correct?  He's been drafted and will now play on their summer league team to see if he makes the final regular-season 12-man roster, right?  If he doesn't will he be relegated to the G-League?  I'm not sure how this process works.

You are correct. At least that's what happened with Emoni Bates last season. He played in the Summer League and spent most of the regular season with the Charge.

This is great and much needed. I wonder what will happen with the sponsor cards that were on the old scoreboard. That was prime real estate and eyes were drawn there, do they program additional advertising to be displayed on the videoboard? Or do we they sell space on the fences or endzone padding like in baseball? Just trying to understand that sponsorship revenue stream.

I would assume it just opens up the opportunity to show different sponsors throughout the game. Not just be limited to the 10 permanently displayed. Similar to the boards at Progressive Field and Rocket Mortgage. Two of the biggest video displays in the country and 25% of them tends to be used for advertising.

Getsy also hasn't really been all too great of a coach

To be fair though. None of the Akron coaches have been either.

I'm always shocked at how many times NFL coordinators keep getting hired without seeing much success.

Having JD, Moorhead, and Ferri here has its benefits despite the W/L record not reflecting progress (yet).

It's probably a long shot. But if Moorhead doesn't work out I'd love to see if Getsy would be willing to coach the Zips.

  9. I would say the "field sponsor" rule is not new, just evolved. Technically we have had sponsorships on the field since InfoCision opened. It used to be that as long as the sponsor was involved in the naming of the stadium/field it could be shown. Now any brand is allowed. I don't think any school is switching out the main logo at midfield for a sponsor. It says it can be at the 50 yard line, but that most likely means below or above the current midfield logo.

I also would love a MAC/Sunbelt merge but that would depend on how they classify "dead weight" lol.

Yeah as long as a school has a beautiful football stadium, I think they should completely ignore the team on the field. That doesn't matter right?

    This isn't very hard.

    - Big media market

    - Respected academics

    - Top of the MAC basketball program with tradition

    - Living, breathing football program

Overall, UMass makes the MAC more competitive with a large market that can be sold to whichever media company gives the MAC their next TV deal. That's the bottom line.

It's beating a dead horse, but the "traditional MAC schools" (mainly directional Michigan's, Balls, NIU, etc.) don't move the needle for people outside of the MAC offices. Those are the pearls the MAC has been clutching and it's nice to see them loosen the grip to accept a more competitive but non-traditional school to the MAC.

We can't emphasize this enough. The schools you mentioned do nothing for the conference and fans don't care when they come to town.

My completely unrealistic pipe dream would be to merge the MAC and SunBelt while cutting some dead weight to make a new conference with a north and south division.

For those who are curious, a quote from the site-

Established in 2023, the Summit Circle recognizes those that make a financial investment of $25,000 or more, in addition to their ticket donations, to Akron Athletics. Investors in the Summit Circle make multi-year pledges that are crucial to the long-term financial success of our athletics program.

Kudos to the Groces for doing this.  This is something every coach who makes big money from the school should do.  I promise to be a Summit Circle member when the university pays me $650K.

For most of us it would be a donation. Fans and boosters really don't see any returns if they give money. Maybe a few perks and a social media post.

But for Groce it's more of an investment. Any money he puts into the program is going to make it better, the team will win and he will be paid accordingly. It's a great gesture and very smart of them to give back. Hopefully this means he's here to stay for a long time.

A lot of the die-hard dynasty players preferred playing as one of the cupcake teams and then building them into a national powerhouse. Several MAC schools fit that premise.

I used to always start out with a Sun Belt school, then move on to Akron, then take over a big school like ND or Michigan. Only to return back to Akron and keep that Dynasty going. It's unfortunate now that most Sun Belt schools are now considered superior to anything in the MAC.

I discovered over the weekend that I'm unable to participate as this game will not be released (at this moment) on PC. ZipsNation will have to carry the torch and lead Akron to the promised land.

Doesn't sound like PC is planned at all and they claimed that the market isn't there to justify the cost. Not sure I buy that.

Eventually you should be able to play using Xbox Game Pass using the cloud at some point. They tend to add a lot of EA games on there and most of the popular titles from other developers. Right now I play Madden constantly on my iMac through a browser and on my tablet using the Xbox app. As well as NHL24, EA PGA Tour, The Show, NBA 2K, etc.

This is going to be UNREAL. Helluva job by EA and their team on exceeding expectations with this trailer.

The developers made a point to pay attention to details of every team, or so they say. Surprisingly there are a lot of people on Reddit that are excited to play as MAC teams and seem convinced that the stadiums will all be included. I sure hope so! My favorite part of NCAA 14 playing at InfoCision and being able to see the surrounding campus. Even the buildings along Exchange St, including Taco Bell 😂.

I will buy Charge season tickets if that happens

Selfishly I wish the Erie Bayhawks still existed. They were the Cavs affiliate before the Charge existed and folded a few years back. After all their NBA teams decided to have their G-League teams closer. I'd love to see Enrique play in my own town.

I doubted Enrique would ever play meaningful minutes when he walked on even though, IIRC, @NWAkron thought he looked very good in some Akron-Canton summer rec league highlight video. 🤭  I was wrong. He was right.

Now I'm doubting Enrique in The League.  I'm just not confident his game will translate well to the modern NBA. If he could have played in the 80's-90's he'd fit right in.  Now... I don't know. Anymore at 6'7" he'd better be able to handle the ball better than most 90's guards & launch from further downtown than anything the 90's would've imagined as being a good shot.

    Idk. I hope I'm wrong again! 🤞🤞🤞

He's the best Zip I've ever seen.

The Cavs tried to build with bigs who can rebound and finish around the rim. It works fine in the regular season, but come playoffs they will never make it past the second round. When the other team is draining 3's, you can't compete.

the only change I'd make to the students is giving them more seats along the sideline. They can fill up an entire side most nights

I really miss the seats behind the baskets. I know that it was pointless to have 4 rows or whatever, but if they could find a way to pack the ends or an entire sideline that would really go a long way. Another bonus is that it could be converted to bleachers because students will be standing most of the game anyway. Then fill the rest of the arena with chairbacks.
