Zips scoring - first half vs. 2nd half
fknbuflobo replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Most in-game adjustments by Zips coaching staff in 2023 have been spot on with both personnel and tactics. Maybe they are improving at their craft. Good. -

I have no insider information on Henry. Just sharing what I witnessed. For all I know, he will play Saturday. -

Josef Paulus was not the only Zip accumulating scars last night. Malik Henry went down to what appeared to be a left ankle injury. By his reaction hobbling off the pitch, it appears significant. Heal fast, Malik. ZipsNation is behind you 100%. -

I sure hope Joey Paulus is OK. That play occurred right in front of me. Defender punted Joey right in the temple. The ball was long gone. It was dirty and intentionally injurious. It was Bullshit! I want to know the identity of the CSU player who perpetrated that hit job. It looked personal. Anyone have video on that? This needs to be reviewed for possible disciplinary action. I am still pissed off. It should have been a straight Red Card, a Penalty Kick, followed by an ambulance ride. We only got the ambulance ride. Hang Tough, Joey! ZipsNation loves you! -

Not sure of your age. Shook is on a barely believable scoring streak. I cannot recall anything like it. I am not going to jinx this streak by downgrading his abilities. I want him to keep doing what he is doing. Again. Again. -
2023 Women's Soccer

To be fair, it is difficult to think of this as Simonetti's 2nd season. More like 1.5 season, I guess. -

Zips need to continue the high-volume shooting. The more shots the better. Expect Akron to shoot at least 25 times against Cleveland State. -

It will be almost like a home match. I will be there. -
2023 Women's Soccer

Zips WSOC is currently abysmal. Cannot hide from that fact. But that does not mean regime change is justified. Give Simonetti at least another season. Coaching change will eventually become necessary unless there is dramatic improvement next year. But not yet. And the suggestion to drop WSOC altogether is absurd. I believe the notion to do so was in jest. -
Not sure at whose expense this will come, but it is tough to see Stefan Dobrijevic coming off the bench much longer. He is really pressing to be in the first 11.

Formation against DePaul was 4-2-3-1, a return to our normal system employed for the past decade. Why we went away from our “new” formation of 3-2-4-1 is anyone’s guess. Perhaps coaches saw something on film. Perhaps it was dictated by personnel. Perhaps it was situational according to our opponent. I did not notice anything special about DePaul. Rui Reis immediately changed the match upon entering. But he entered in “the hole” or the #10 position, or the central attacking midfielder. Not as an extra forward; we did not change formation. I believe this is where Reis is most effective, rather than subbing in for Shook at the #9 up top. Reis is a very offensive minded playmaker who is always looking for two passes and a shot (so to speak). Shook is Check. Reis is two moves before Check. Credit our coaches for shrewd in-game personnel decisions.

Jason Shokalook has now scored 10 times this season and counting. What was once a disappointing 2023 has really turned around. That is what tallying 3 consecutive braces will do for you. All the hustle and training is starting to pay dividends. Keep up the strong work, Shooky! It is your World; we are just watching from the sidelines!

Shook has 8 tallies on the season midway through (hopefully)? That none too shabby! En Fuego! -
I bet this was an entertaining derby.

Much love for Shook. But No. Hell No! Not by a long shot. At this point in his career, I would not put Shokalook in the top 10 Zips scorers of AllTime. Now, he could get there. He has scored 4 goals in 2 matches. How many is that on the season? Shook is on a hot streak right now. I would not relish marking him. -

Hardly a work of art by Zips. Not sure everyone on Akron wanted to play tonight. But it did not matter; Norsemen were overmatched and outgunned. NKU ultimately succumbed to an Akron offensive barrage in the 2nd half. We will take the two goals, the clean sheet, and all three points. Onward and upward. -

This is not even a contest. Zips need to put these guys down. Now. -
I suppose I will put this here. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/waking-me-up-september-has-ended.2127853/

Until Zips equalized in the 82nd minute, it certainly looked like Red Storm were going win the match and keep all three points. This was especially the case directly after Zips failed to convert the PK.

Shameful. Embarrassing.

Zips need to shoot at least 12 times in the 2nd half. Rain is coming down in sheets. Artificial turf. Up a man. Down a goal. LET IT RIP!!!! Shoot from distance. GKs make errors in this weather.
