I don't understand how UNC is above the Zips in both polls. They lost to Va Tech who isn't even in the top 48 of TDS. Meanwhile, the Zips tied a couple of very tough teams. Makes no sense to me. All these polls are based on opinion only and I suppose only the final regular season NCSAA poll matters. Top 4 finish in this one gives you home field for playoffs. Still a long way to go before end of season and Zips will be there. New NSCAA poll is out and the top 4 remain the same so we are still at Number 4.

They only had like 2-3 weeks in preseason and most of the starters have never played together. Only way to gel is to be out on the pitch at the same time. Besides, it was only 2-0 in the 85th minute.I think Porter tries to play the game the way it is "supposed" to be played. Limited subs.

I wondered about Mayer as well. He was kicking ball around with other subs at half time of CSUN game and appeared to be OK.

Week 3 - Lowest Rankings in years... but maybe we are still over-rated...??? We have some things to prove... after proving to be dead even with some mediocre teams over the weekend. I haven't read this thread in it's entirerty, so I'm just jumping in here (forgive me if this has been discussed) but the team will be jelling without Holmes, so there's a danger of him being kept out of the loop for the entire year, no? He'd have to be awfully good to sit out the first six games, and then just jump into a starting/contributing role against Columbus, right? Based on his prior production as a scorer I think he will be just fine.

"So typical of MLS". Boy, does that say a mouthful! I've always thought, MLS is to world football as the MAC is to the USA. MLS tries to use physical style to make up for the lack of consistent skills -- but it isn't that simple, other nations/leagues appear to be trying to emulate our style -- did anyone see the awful takle by a Real Madrid player in Sunday's match with Barca? Criminal -- worse than what Mullan did to Zakuani, and he'll probably get no suspension. Plain and simple...the MLS plays terrible futbol
