Quite honestly, if you're willing to bet money on something like this, now I realize you're not worth my time. Wow, did you take your eyes off the big picture on this one. You really want to wager anything based on child molestation? Oh, and I can't believe I even have to say this. You don't think the criminal activity that went on would have just as much, if not more effect on game attendance than the NCAA ruling? You won't consider that Nittany Lions fans may no longer want to go to games simply because they now associate football with child molestation? Have a good one

Why would I bet my personal money on this?
-
Yeah, you're just going to get over it. Sorry, but I totally disagree with you on this. I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm not saying I am right. This is completely about personal beliefs, or otherwise we wouldn't be giving it any thought considering what we believe should happen completely does not matter. Unless you come out and declare you were a victim of Sandusky, you're just not going to convince me of anything, as I won't convince you of anything. Now to your point about the economy, Penn State is a monster of a school. It's fans will go to the games every week. Good team, bad team, they will sell out. To Penn State fans, going to the games is much more than sitting and watching a game. Also, they are in the Big 10. Even if people didn't go to watch Penn State, they would go to watch the opponents. As far as the small schools that come in to play, like Akron, the fans will go to those games as well just to see a victory. And maybe I should point this out again, I personally would approve if the stadium got burned down, and all sports were wiped off their campus. Sorry for the community who will lose livelihoods, but the ONLY people I will ever feel sorry for are the victims. Everyone else made their money and got their fame. Innocent or not, life isn't fair.
-
If they just want to play, they will stay at Penn State. Even at 2nd or 3rd string, they have a good shot at starting there considering the exodus of old players and the limited number of new players. If they can't start at that point, would it really be an improvement to the Akron roster?
-
Personally, I would have loved to see Penn State lose football. Sorry, i don't think i can ever think of that program without child molestation coming to mind. Some things just need to die. In fact, I would have like the school to have voluntarily cancelled their football program for two years. However, I think the ncaa dished out a fair punishment which won't destroy the local economy. As far as the comments regarding Akron getting their players, I don't know if you're all serious? The players leaving that program will be doing so for bowl and championship opportunities. Sorry, none of them are going to Akron. I wish we could get one or two, but it won't happen.
-
Damn that was funny!
-
Perhaps, but they let Sandusky keep his keys! Perhaps the only folk who are definitely the one's to decide are the victims?
-
Wow, the worst FBS team. Okay, true but damn that's harsh.
-
This goes so far beyond the NCAA. I am pleased, well not pleased, nothing that can happen will make up to what happened to these victims, but relieved most of the monsters will be spending time in prison. There they can be punished in the same fashion the victims were abused, ah yes, sweet justice. Still though, the NCAA has to get involved. This is the most horrific thing to come out of college sports ever. Yes, death penalty to football and ALL sport programs indefinitely! Vacate all wins and championships during Sandusky's entire tenure. This went on, on Penn State property. Make sure no institution ever lets this happen again, ever! Yes, it isn't fair to the student/athletes, but small price as to what this drastic, but just punishment can provide. The crime was a travesty and the cover-up was just as evil, if not worse! It goes way beyond punishment. The NCAA needs to ensure this could never happen again, anywhere. As far as Penn State goes, demolish that rediculous statue. Change the name of the library. Get rid of EVERYTHING that has anything to do with this scandal. At this point I can't believe Penn State hasn't taken these steps already.

I was breezing through ESPN and sportscenter top 10 plays of the day (week?) was on. Around #6 or so a play from Akron/Can't was on it. I think it may have been a block? Kinda caught it 3/4 of the way through. Anyone catch it? Anyone know the play? Thanks!

Why is Akron never considered for an at large bid?
acstorfer replied to Valpo Zip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Completely agree with OP. In fact I said the exact same thing on the Oral Roberts thread last week. Didn't know the Ohio game was national. It was a bad game, but I still wish I watched. Good or bad, I'm still an alumni and will always love the Zips! -
How many missed threes today? If they would have taken it to the paint and even scored on half those opportunities...
-
Akron would be dominating this game if they would just give up the freakin three shots!
-
Okay, again, the Zips be rolling. That almost tackle by Zeke was freakin' awesome!
-
I cringe every time any of the Zips go for a three shot!
-
And as soon as I say the above, Akron is starting to roll. Now we have some game!!!!! Well, except for the air ball on the three... Ouch!
-
Is it me, or does Akron have problems with shot consistency when they are nationally televised?
-
Because I don't want one and done again. I want the Zips going in with momentum. Also, if they do somehow get in without winning the MAC, wouldn't they be one of those teams that have to play an extra round?
-
Ha! Someone rated this thread, and a low rating at that.
-
Ha! I had a class with him a couple years ago when he told me how hard it was to go home and see his girlfriend without a license.
-
Well yeah, but the CAA is much more competitive whereas the MAC isn't too competitive, especially the west. If a team can't win the MAC tourney, they will not do squat in the NCAA tourney. Just getting to go isn't good enough anymore. I want them to win a couple.
-
An at large spot with a ranking would be nice, but really, Akron made it to the tournament two out of the last three years. Even with winning the MAC title, they still couldn't get past the first round. If they can't win the MAC, they have no shot in the tourney. Screw the at large bid.

I challenge you all to watch this video all the way through

Well, for those that are like me and way out of the Akron, OH area, we are in for a treat. This Saturday afternoon the Zips will be playing on a nationally broadcasted game on ESPN 2. Their opponent is Oral Roberts and the game is in their house. The last televised Zip game that I caught was week 1 of football against the Buckeyes and that was miserable. Here's knowing that our Zips basketball team will demolish OR on national television and hopefully all Zips nation around the country will be watching and we'll have something to celebrate.
