Chase Blackburn Signs with Panthers
acstorfer replied to Kangaroo Craig's topic in Akron Zips Football
I grew up in north Jersey and I've been a Giants fan all my life. That being said I'm glad Chase is no longer with the Giants. They have always treated him poorly. Chase went from being a team captain in 2009 to not being signed in 2010. When the Giants finally picked him up in 2010, he was an integral part of their winning a championship. Not many people can say they picked off a ball from Tom Brady in a Super Bowl. Then after that, they treated him like trash again. I remember all the critics calling him the worst starting linebacker in the nfl. I would ask them what they can call the worst starting linebacker in the nfl. I would answer he's a starting linebacker in the nfl with two Super Bowl rings. -
Will we win more than one game?

Here's hoping you're right! I'm thinking I'm just a bit spoiled being from north Jersey. I grew up a Giants and Yankees fan. Well, I also grew up a Knicks and Rangers fan so please pardon the pessimism. Quite honestly if there are some competitive games I'll be happy (and a proud alumni) with one or two wins. Well I'm a proud alumni anyway. -
Will we win more than one game?

I just really wish I had any reason (in my mind) to think Akron Football will win more than two games this year. I am actually just hoping we have two wins. -
Wow, espn is completely looking past Akron for VCU.
-
According to the ncaa site, that's it.
-
12 sits extremely comfortable with me.
-
I'm saying they have a much more realistic shot at getting deep without playing a number one on their second game.
-
They might be legitimate, but I'm really enjoying the success right now. I'm just gonna stay optimistic. Hell, if Akron doesn't get an 8 or 9 seed, I really believe they'll get deep into the tourney.

In previous years I'd fear the trap that is this game. This team though, I'm honestly not worried. I think this team is the real deal and Buffalo on their best night couldn't keep up with this season's Zips. I think they are focused, motivated and really well prepared. If they do lose, it would be on the sucky side that they would lose their ranking, but sometimes getting a loss before the playoffs can be helpful. Still though, it's best for a team that gets full of themselves. With the possible exception of Abrea (sorry if I spelled that wrong), these guys all seem very hard working and humble.

If he didn't I wouldn't think it's because he didn't think his team was worthy. If he didn't, I could only imagine it's because he would think it's unethical because he has a vote. Again, personally I don't think it's in the least unethical. I just think it's a funny concept that he won't say.

I read recently that Coach Dambrot would not say if he voted for the Zips on the Coach's poll. I don't have near the experience with Akron basketball as the majority of Zipsnation. I would love to hear from you all regarding your thought about Coach Dambrot giving his Zips a nod in this poll. Just saying, I don't think it wrong for him to vote for his team. In fact, he should think his team is the best. I'm just curious about what you all think about if he voted for his own team or not. Seems to be a fun topic.

Thankfully I wasn't drinking milk when I read this! The milk would have sprayed six feet out of my nose!!

Okay, now that it's really official, WOO HOO!
-
My God that's just cruel! ESPN and the MAC app both already called this game. Thank God I'm not watching, I'd of had a heart attack by now.
-
Am I missing something? Espn is saying we won 72-70.
-
Woo hoo!!!!!
-
Thanks guys! I still can't get the game to stream, but the espn site is the best for updated information!
-
If it is, I can't figure it out. Thanks though.

It's amazing how awful it is for me that the game isn't televised in Florida!

Good teams win ugly games. It's really not a bad thing watching a bad game, but the team still wins. Ugly wins build character and it gives teams who have to grind some confidence. -
I've known Zeke my senior and his freshman year. In all honesty, I didn't even know he was a baller. We used to study together for an Africans studies class we had. I really thought he was a great player and having men like him was great for the University of Akron. I got to gauge his intelligence in cram sessions. Also, he would tell me about his girlfriend that he lived back in Pittsburgh. I really like knowing the guy. Then I found out he was a baller and his stock just rose. Watching home for a time I felt he tripped over his own feet and got pissed off too often. He laughed a few times this game. After seeing that I KNEW Akron was going to win. He bulked up, has confidence and bulked up. If he can stay strong for the season, and hopefully post season, he can actually get his name called in the NBA lottery? Luckily I've always been a New York Giants fan so having Blackburn and Hixon involved in my team always cheers me up. As of now, Chase Blackburn is my favorite New York Giants. Trick question, what does someone call the worst starting lineman in the NFL? You call him a starting NFL linebacker who has two Super Bowl Championships for arguably the most consistent team in the NFL. He'll get his C back soon! So, yes it's minuscule, but if Zeke, Treadwell or Abrieu ever made it to the Knicks, I would be ecstatic! Here's the only thing I care about. We aren't again getting an at-large bid for the tournament and the NIT is just kinda sad, so we will win the championships this year and we will make it to the Sweet 16. Want a new stadium, that's how it will happen. Also, we can lesson the use of CJ Thomas Hall. It might have some uses, but a 7,000 seat stadium in addition to our football stadium can bring in major entertainment packages. We can be a venue that's a destination and not just one that if someone is just in the area they'll stop by. Tell me Chrissie Hyndes, LeBron James, Jason Taylor don't have some contact to help us with that. As far as football, between Bowden and Tressell (once the NCAA clear him), there has to be a future in our program. We have two alums who can show off a couple rings and Jason Taylor to say, we should be able to recruit a respectable level. Of course soccer will be a question without Coach Porter, but we'll still be respectable. Now the big question, we want out of the MAC, so where do we want to go? The Big East is a shell of what it once was. The Big 10 would be an impossible dream come true. The PAC and WAC stuff will never happen, the sec would be masochastic! I think our best shot would stay MAC and boot out the low RPI guys. With our horrible one loss game to Ohio last year, who went on to the Sweet Sixteen, we should easily be able to get an at large team in the show if we heighten our RPI. Of course our Creighten loss was a kick in the ass with that!

Got to love when Akron takes two from the Big 10 in one day!

Lowe's Senior Class Award

Thanks for the link. Very proud to vote for Scott. -
Yeah, it wasn't so much the reason as to why they won't go to games that disgusted me. I was put off on the attitude of the statement. That is, the let's bet on it attitude based on a discussion predicated with child molestation.
