Didn't know if anyone missed this article from Ives yesterday Soccer By Ives - Ampaipitakwong ready for any role

Nice, looking forward to April 2nd
-
I just read an update from Sporting KC "Good news on Teal Bunbury's injury today. No broken bones, no nerve damage. Teal is expected to return from dislocated elbow in 2-4 weeks"
-
Nice, I was wondering if Caleb was assisting with the US youth squads this year. Yeah, its a tough injury, he'll miss a few weeks of live scrimmaging if its for sure a dislocated elbow. Good thing the season doesn't kick off for another month. Most people will say you don't need your arms in soccer, but as soccer players know you need your arms almost as much as your legs.

Nice, I didn't see that one and he played with Kasey Keller at Borussia M'gladbach. Michael Bradley's former team. Thanks, I guess who'll be the second player? Unless there is another player I don't know of who played in Europe. I gotta think Zakuani will be next, since he has London ties and has expressed a move to Europe someday. If not, maybe Mattocks depending how this season turns out. If he's a First Round pick in the MLS, I can see him staying in the US, if not, he's heading to Europe. Although I think Bunbury has the best chance to excel in Europe and he'll know when the time is right.
-
So I was thinking this morning while watching some EPL action. Who do you think would be the first former Akron player to play somewhere in Europe? Would it be Bunbury or Zakuani? Or someone from the 2010 Championship squad? And I'm excluding Kyle Veris who attended Akron then transferred to OSU. He had a one year stint with Hodd in Norway.

Greater Cleveland Sports Awards
Crew8 replied to jem101's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I didn't take it as being cocky, but rather as a coach who is darn proud (rightfully so) of his players and their determination following the 2009 College Cup, and was ensuring that everyone present knew why the team won and deserved that award. That's what I took from it too. Caleb Porter is one stand-up guy. -
Opportunities to see our Pro SoccerRoos

I'm looking forward to another Crew season! If you love soccer, Akron and Cleveland Outlaws are putting together a few trips again this season to car pool down and back. If you're ever interested let me know. I know a few of us are going down for the CONCACAF Champions League match vs. RSL Feb. 22nd, it might be still winter, but the boys will still be on the pitch. We're probably looking at a match in mid April vs Sporting KC or early May vs Seattle if you want to see former Zips players live. We usually head down a few hours early, so we can stop in the local HSH soccer pub or if we have to many people, we might just tailgate an hour or two before the match. We always stand in the supporter section, tickets are cheaper, and the atmosphere is fantastic. -
The info I received two weeks ago for the spring schedule. I'm not sure which games were home or away though. And looks like Xavier has been confirmed. Maryland April 2nd 2pm Xavier April 16th 2pm Valpo April 27th 730pm

Read up above. NPSL in 2012 So it's a new NPSL, not the NPSL that was formed from the AISA survivors and the ashes of the MISL, which later changed it's name to MISL. But a new NPSL. An outdoor NPSL. But not the original NPSL, which merged with the USA to frm the NASL. The original NASL, not the now NASL. Which is a bunch of teams that broke away from the USL. Awwww to hell with it. I'll just stick to college... Lol NPSL- National Premier Soccer League NPSL Website

Thank you to those who joined us in uniting and strengthening soccer here in Akron and the US, we're now OFFICIAL! Take a look for yourself, we hope to get Akron's website up and running soon. List of US AO Chapters
-
Its not Villa, it's a League 2 team, supposedly the team is located in Lancashire. I think it might be Bury, but I could be wrong.

Read up above. NPSL in 2012

Congrats Crew8. If I read this correctly, the Akron chapter has enough members to be an official chapter. I'm glad that I could help. http://twitter.com/AmericanOutlaws "Congrats to Brooklyn for becoming Official AO Chapter. Waiting on Minneapolis & Akron for their App but have enough, & Buffalo almost there!" Thank You Zip_ME87!! this summer during the Gold Cup is going to be great. We have lots of big plans now that we're an Official Chapter of the American Outlaws. Now I just need to finish up our application and send it in tonight. haha Lets keep the passion for soccer growing here in Akron!

I assume everyone knows the Egypt match was canceled, but in case not I thought I'd post it. To bad, I was looking forward to seeing the A squad against a good team like Egypt. 2 months until the next match is a long wait. March 26th vs. Argentina in New Jersey March 29th vs. Paraguay in Nashville

I don't believe the reserve teams practice with the First Team. In most leagues, the reserve teams only practice with the first squad leading up to the beginning of the season. La Liga is set up differently, unlike the English Premier League. Real Madrid has reserve teams playing in the lower divisions and they can move up and down the table just like in any other league in Europe. But the reserve team cannot move up into a division where it already occupies a spot. Real Madrid's Reserve teams. One of them is in the third tier Segundo B Division with 80 teams set up in 4 different groups and the other is in the fourth tier Tercara Division with 360 teams divided into 18 different regional groups.

There is something on Bigsoccer's Cleveland thread (what was the name of that USL team again, City Slickers or something?) -- they're supposed to re-start in 2012), saying the team would be playing at "Lebron's high school field" How many goals did HE score in HS? BTW -- How does the sale effect George Nanchoff -- was the whole club sold? Supposedly from the information I received from Akron Metro FC, it was some of Nanchoff's idea. So I'm sure he's very much involved
-
It will be a great experience for the players as a team. Although its the reserves, its great for Akron recruiting. When you hear the name Real Madrid, you think of all the Championships, but all they do is buy players like the Yankees, so do they really have much of a reserve team. lol Its really great news for Zips Soccer! Reserves or not, lets hope the players learn some skills and tactics from the Spanish.
-
Yes, Akron Metro FC purchased the Cleveland Internationals and will be playing matches at Lee Jackson Field and St. V St. Mary's Soccer Field under the name of Summit Assault. And Cleveland will be getting an NPSL Team in 2012. But I guess the League might be reconstructed for 2012. They should be announcing something in the next few weeks. They'll be playing somewhere on the west side of Cleveland. I guess AFC means "A Fan's Club" AFC Cleveland AFC Cleveland - Facebook Lots of good things for soccer in the NE Ohio area

Creation of a Supporters' Group
Crew8 replied to RootforRoo44's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I have a new one to throw in, what about Zipper Mob? Use the original nickname before it was shortened to Zips in the 50's and referring to a group of Kangaroos. We can march over to the Pouch in our Zipper rubber boots after a few drinks at the local bar. haha Or maybe use the word mob for some of the other previous names like Wally B mentioned
